Agreed. These people know that the people who disagree with them are far more decent than they are, and they constantly use that to their advantage. Just chiming in to say Picard would have totally fucked us over had he been in command of DS9 during the Dominion War. Hell, his values cost the Federation thousands of lives because of his personal internal conflict in deciding whether or not to destroy the whole Borg collective.

You have described the mechanism by which McCarthyism operated without understanding at all the framing of the use of the term. Well, I am a Republican if that is what you mean. I just personally feel the polarizing of politics is going too far in our country.
That's probably true, which is why I acknowledged that in the real world you are often faced with non-ideal choices. The argument that a poster made, one that didn't call me names no less, that the times are such that Trump's regime has to be fought by any means possible, was a strong one.
