I'd say treat it as a practice run right now, don't do the challenge rift yet, and then do the challenge rift as a seasonal character once the season starts for a good early boost. Being able to craft the level 70 reduced level requirement items early (mentioned in the guides) due to getting the 10 death's breaths early makes a huge difference.

I just completed my first set on my DH... and wow my impale damage went through the roof. When I saw 50,000% impale damage increase... I just had to have that. This is probably nothing for ya'll who have been playing and doing rifts way above my power level right now, but for me it's been a great amount of entertainment getting the set and then reaping the rewards.

My build has reduced resource cost when not taking damage, shields to help ensure that happens, and heavy focus on attack speed.

Also while I was gathering that set, which took forever btw and I still only got 5 pieces (using the power to reduce set item requirements by 1)... I gathered 2 other sets and then some.

Oh, yeah, it's tons of fun when your character goes from "Nephalem-Tier" to "God-Tier." Especially when an item drops that you've been hungering for.

I've been playing my Necromancer, trying to get her geared up, but I am not having a whole lot of luck getting what I need. I'm using the Inarius set I got from S13, which doesn't make for the most fun build ever, in my opinion. I've always been a Witch Doctor player since release, so the Necro's pets speak to me... yet here I am whacking away with my scythe like I'm trying to cut down chaff. :-|

After reading about the armor S14 is giving, I think I'm going Crusader. I leveled up a Crusader to 70 while trying to get Trophies (PS4 player here) and had fun with him on the journey, but never focused on endgame content. Everything I've been reading about Akkhan set builds sounds like it's going to be a ton of fun.

You playing Softcore or Hardcore? I'm gonna level up a character tonight, most likely.

Need to check if there is still an active discord while I'm at it.

Not into hardcore type experiences. Death makes the character unplayable right? Maybe if it only turned it into a standard character.

I probably wouldn't last long either way lol, I tend to turn up the difficulty a bit and will watch netflix etc.. so not paying full attention gets me killed sometimes.

Tempted to pick up for my X to play season 14 couch co-op with my daughter. Is the only way to get digitally really the $60 pack? Guess I could run out and get for $30 physically (+$15 for Necromancer eventually). Does it ever go on sale digitally?

It's been on sale, for sure. I wouldn't pay the digital price, though, considering the price it can be had for at retail.

I'll probably do a softcore and hardcore character, so I'll ping you when I'm on.

Main issue is I have no idea what to play. I missed out on the last patch so I haven't experience all the changes they made. It seems like any character can do fairly well in greater rifts.

This crusader build looks to be the most interesting: https://www.reddit.com/r/diablo3/comments/8ra3j2/s14_condemn_akkhan_gr120_t13_speed_gr_farming/

I stopped playing vanilla for a while until RoS came out, and ended up playing a Crusader like most. At the time it was rather boring though, so I went back to Wizard and then eventually stopped until the Necromancer was released. Stopped once it came down to "Mage Spamming" or "Don't hit anything at all until LotD is up", so that got boring. Haven't played since October, and am going to start again tonight for a while. Actually going back to the Crusader, because not only does it have one of the strongest builds in the game, it also has one that I had been wanting to try forever, but at the time it wasn't that good: Captain America. It's not the best build or anything right now, but it's certainly strong enough to go very high with, and it's also easier to gear for.

I didn't think I'd like necro so I started a wizard for the season. First time doing a seasonal btw. Then I wasn't feeling it. So I went ahead and bought necro. I really like the class so far. I'm 3 jewel crafting recipes away from finishing the set. It's quite insane already. I got the legendary that has your golem drop a corpse every second quite early on in 60s. Now with revive I fire off up to 10 corpse lances at random targets... that's just insane. When the revived minions die they leave their corpses to be revived again. Endless corpse lance volleys. I don't die either due to spawning a ridiculous amount of healing globes and the damage reduction from the 4 piece set bonus.

Okay so, on my demon hunter... clearing 70+ greater rifts. A few questions...

Is it worth reforging legendaries to try to get ancient/primal ancient?
What is left past lvl 70 rift? Why is there only lvl 13 torment?
What exactly is the end game of the end game now? Just chasing down ancients/primals?
Is there a secret to getting a ton of forgotten souls?

Reforge for ancient weps and offhands that roll +damage. If you have a bunch of mats unused you can do other parts but often Kadala, drops, and Hope of Cain will provide most of what you need.

--What is left past lvl 70 rift? Why is there only lvl 13 torment?

Endgame is grifts. Normal rifts if you need grift keys or want to take things easy. Bounties if you hate yourself. Grind for gear and that sweet, sweet paragon.

--Is there a secret to getting a ton of forgotten souls?
Not really. Higher diff better drop rate. Salvage, salvage, and salvage some more.

It seems odd that greater rifts are the only end game once torment 13 becomes trivial. Greater rifts are fun but they do lack some of the interesting random elements like the goblins and events. The infernal machine bosses were interesting as well, made trivial at this point though.

I still find playing demon hunter quite fun though. Impale build is super fun. My seasonal necro has come along quite well too.

Hey Friends,

Used to be in the group when we were at the other site. Left towards the end of last season and trying to join you all again.

Last request expired so trying again since I figure more people will be on with a new season.

Haven't played this since a few patches ago, but the 2x goblin season drew me back in. Going Crusader since I haven't really done much with the class before other than throw hammers everywhere.

Thanks for accepting the clan request the other day, whoever did that. Hope to do some rifts with yall someday once my seasonal paragon is decent. :P

Icy veins builds are fine. I've used them for years

Max GR is 100+ varying by class

High is 70+

Mid is 30-70

Low under 30

This is all imo of course

So for the Inna's set, did they change it so it no longer is overridden if you have a Mystic Ally selected? All the Inna's builds I see on Dfans seem to imply it's now better to have one selected in addition to the set bonus. I was under the impression it got screwed up if you selected one of the runed ones (a hold over from like early RoS era when that was the case, not sure it changed).

I prefer playing Sunwuko Wave of Light build, less stressful and so easy to do.

I'm running a kinda Hybrid of the two right now. 2 piece SWK and 6 Piece Inna's. I as just curious because I don't really have a skill to fill in a 4th slot, I've had Cyclone Strike but it has minimal use in my current build since I just plow through everything. Wondering if setting an actual Mystic Ally would be better.

You really need to try Sunwuko, it is OP and fun to play the last time they reworked it they did it for the better.

I haven't had enough luck/time to farm the required items for a good SWK build. Only had 3 pieces of the set, and got lucky with my Haedrig's Gift and got a near perfect Glove (Crit Chance/Crit Damage/AS/Near perfect Dex Roll) for Inna's, so I'm kind of inbetween. Gotta get better rings and Amulet for starters, and have gotten really unlucky with a lot of my drops and such. I usually try and farm all sets and have a build ready for each one every season--I play Monk every season to start out--but it takes time.

Play with someone on ERA, i don't know if you are in america or EU but if a monk can play a long you will get items faster.

For the question about running allies with Inna's - the bugs were fixed. Now it just comes down to whether you need the active effect or not (mainly for the spirit from the air allies).

SWK fire bell really is absurdly good once you get the gear. You drop fullscreen nukes from a screen away with good mobility and no micromanaging rotations.

For the awkward transition, lashing tail kick works well with Inna's.

Chalk up another Icy-Veins fan.

Console versions not getting the expanded stash is hurting more for me than it ever has before. Once my Season Crusader flips over to normal I'm not going to have any space left for her gear, between my Witch Doctor, Wizard, and Necromancer's loot. I hate to get rid of random items, because who knows if it will become viable in a future patch.

Other console players, how do you deal with this problem?

Well I've pretty much decided just to play only on seasons. It is really dumb I hate it, its a game about collecting loot where you have no room to collect loot. All they'd even have to do was separate the stash and have one small stash to swap between the characters.

I'm in the same boat. Did a clear out prior to s14 starting and still I've only got 20-30 stash space.

I guess you could do mule characters but that's a bit of a pain keeping on top of (as well as running out of character slots really fast)

I'm going to have to, but, like you said, it's going to be a chore.

I'm really enjoying my Season 14 Crusader. I've been using the Blessed Shield Akkhan build (though with Shield Glare instead of Steed Charge) and love going all Captain America on enemies. I've been progressing really fast, too, much faster than I ever remember on my main (Witch Doctor). I'm at Greater Rift 80 and just dinged Paragon 527. And I've not even explored any of the other builds yet, either! I certainly have the gear, but I'm having way too much fun with this build, even though the Condemn Akkhan build is supposed to be top-tier everywhere I read.

I'm picking a new class each season, to go through the full 7.

Doing Necro in s14 and I still need to to Barb, WD and DH (did em on PlayStation but switched to XBox now) - I'll just check each seasons Haedrigs Gifts and pick the class with a build I like the look of

I want to pick up Diablo 3 on the Xbox, but I've sunk way way way too much time into the PS4 to justify the purchase, even at the 50% deal going on right now. Also, Remote Play has been perfect for me for running Nephalem Rifts and doing bounties. Handheld Diablo 3 is perfect; if the rumors are true the Nintendo Switch is going to get a real gem if this game gets ported to it.

On the official announcement page people were poo-poo-ing the double Treasure Goblins Event, but I'm loving it! Finding one goblin has always been a thrill, but seeing them in pairs is even better! I just got done with a Nephalem Rift where there were more than a handful of treasure goblins of all different kinds and it was so much fun running around trying to get them all before they teleported away. I spent a good 3-5 minutes running around picking up all their loot, when all was said and done.

This is the build I'm going for this season. My first Crusader. Actually got PL'd to 70 and some Paragon/items. It's nice to just get up to that point but I actually kinda like the build up to it, though I I know most don't dig this style anymore this late into the games life. I got so many items so fast I have not had a chance to really look at them lol.

But man... this game, I've really come around on it. Got it on release and was so-so on it. But after all the changes and actually taking time to understand it a few seasons ago it really got me. Sad it's not as big as it should be imo.

Might even grab Necromancer if it goes on sale again. 15 bones is a bit rich for my blood.

I've been running The Cavern of Frost for over 3 hours now trying to get Chiltara to drop the Gibbering Gemstone. This might be the thing that breaks my sanity. I don't know how I managed to punish myself like this many moons ago on the PC.

On that topic, I installed the PC version last night out of curiosity (after having not touched it in years). I have become super spoiled by the console controls; I think they're just that good. And am I imagining things, or is the console version's camera zoomed in closer than the PC's?

PC version is different than console, since the console version was made for controller in hand since you move your character with a joystick and here you move it with a mouse.

Oh, I know; I've put a lot of time into the PC version. Just over the past 2 years I've been running exclusively on the console and had completely forgotten what it was like to use the KB/M.

EDIT
Ah, I wasn't terribly clear in my above post. I've clarified it a bit further.

Top necros on PS4 are running the Lance build with Reilenas equipped and theyve replaced the teleport skill with Revive. I cant find any discussion on this build, so whats the idea behind it?

I tried the Singularity mage build and jesus its so squishy, everything 1 shots you. The fact you cant aim the mages on PS4 doesnt help either. There are people whove cleared 100+ with it so im sure im doing something wrong but even at 80s I feel like I need good mobs to survive.

I managed to get that build after some loot chasing right before the Season started, so I can't give you any advice about Greater Rifts. However, are you using the Mages as a "wall" between you and the mobs?

Been doing Chiltara runs for about 2 hours today now, still nothing. They've effectively turned into Treasure Goblin runs, as they seem to appear quite often. Chiltara totally trolled me about 20 minutes ago, too. She dropped a Legendary, but it was a ring. :-|

I'm being super efficient about it, too. I'm riding my Crusader pony and skipping all the mobs until I get to a Caverns of Frost and a Chiltara. Well, except for stopping for Treasure Goblins.

There is no best as such, most people will run 1 of each class to 70 at least once.

Probably the 2 most straightforward are Crusader and Wizard followed by Monk, Barbarian and Demon Hunter with the 2 pet classes, Witch Doctor and Necro being (only a touch) more challenging to get your head around. It's not a hard game to play

There really is no "best" class. Pick one that speaks to you and go from there. They all handle differently and are fun in their own right. If you don't like the class you started with after ~20 levels, then start a new one. Classes I didn't think would be fun when I first started playing many moons ago I would come back to later and have a blast with.

If I had to quickly sum up the general idea of each class, to help, I'd do so as follows. Though each class is very versatile, in spite of my generalization.

Barbarian: "Tank" class, up-close and personal approach.
Wizard: Glass cannon. Puts out major DPS, but is squishy.
Monk: Melee with style.
Demon Hunter: Ranged, with fun pets. Has dual-resource management, the only class to do so.
Witch Doctor: Pet summoner. Uses earthly supernatural abilities.
Crusader: Can be up-close or ranged.
Necromancer: Pet summoner. Uses the dark arts for their spells.
