Well, like 20 months after hitting Champ I for the first time (in duos I think), I finally just hit Champ II (in standard)... looking forward to Champ III in 2021 and maybe GC rewards by age 50.

Rocket Pass Detailed

Blog Post

rocket-pass_on-white.png
As part of our Summer Roadmap blog that we posted last month, we talked about our new 'Rocket Pass' system that's coming later this year. If you've been looking for more details since then, then today's your day!

WHAT IS ROCKET PASS?
Rocket Pass is a brand new, time-limited progression system that will give you several ways to earn new content in Rocket League. Our goal is to offer several Rocket Passes every year, with an emphasis on new, unique content for each Pass. This will not replace the current XP-based progression system and we'll have more news on those XP plans and changes later this week.

FREE AND PREMIUM
Starting later this summer, we're going to offer you two versions of Rocket Pass right off the bat -- Free and Premium. The Free Rocket Pass will have Rewards that unlock automatically, giving everyone the opportunity to earn FREE new Customization Items, Player Banners, in-game Titles and Decryptors.

If you're looking for additional content to unlock, you can choose to purchase the Premium Rocket Pass upgrade for ten Keys (USD $9.99 or regional equivalent). This comes with even more content, including new Customization Items, new Car Bodies, Keys, Premium Player Banners and Premium Titles. You'll also unlock 'XP Boosts' that multiply your earned XP throughout the duration of your Rocket Pass, as well as 'XP Awards' that can help you advance through Rocket Pass more quickly.

Rocket Pass and its Premium upgrade will be available to every Rocket League player, no matter which platform you play on, and every item will be tradable (excluding typical non-tradable items like Titles). You'll also be able to upgrade to Premium at any time while a Rocket Pass is active without losing any progress - you'll immediately receive Premium rewards up to your current Pass Tier and you'll continue to receive all of the items from the Free Pass alongside Premium content until the earning period is over.

Finally, if you're interested in purchasing the Premium upgrade, you'll be able to view every piece of its content before upgrading, so you'll know exactly what items are coming your way before you buy.

TIERS, PRO TIERS AND TIERING UP
Each time you level up while Rocket Pass is active, you'll earn one Pass Tier. The more Tiers you earn, the more rewards you unlock. If you want those Premium rewards sooner than later, you can also 'Tier Up' by purchasing Tiers outright with Keys. We're still finalizing the total number of Tiers that will be available in the first Rocket Pass, so we'll have more to share on that aspect fairly soon.

Once you've unlocked all of the available Tiers in your Pass, you can begin earning 'Pro Tiers' if you've purchased the Premium upgrade. Each Pro Tier rewards you with a random Painted and/or Certified version of a Premium Rocket Pass item you've already unlocked. Even better, you won't see any duplicate rewards from Pro Tiers until you've completed the full set of each Paint Color and Certification for the current Pass.

We can't wait for you to experience Rocket Pass later this year along with all of the awesome new content that's coming with it. Have questions or want to share your thoughts on Rocket Pass? Be sure to join the conversation on on Reddit and Twitter and our Forums.

FAQ
Will Rocket Pass feature Quests or Challenges as part of its leveling system?

There won't be any gameplay challenges in the first Rocket Pass. We intend to add a "Weekly Win Bonus" as part of Progression updates that allows you to level-up faster by winning enough games each week. We are being careful about introducing "challenges" as we don't want to disrupt the competitive balance of Rocket League by encouraging users to hunt down specific stats like Saves or Assists. That said, we are considering safe ways to give players specific goals for future Passes, like playing matches in specific game modes, or achieving shared team objectives.

Will high-level players earn Pass Tiers more slowly because their levels take longer?

Nope! As part of the Progression updates we've mentioned, all levels beyond a certain threshold require the same amount of experience. Level 30 will take just as long as Level 300. So you won't be at any disadvantage if you've played more than someone else.

Can I unlock Crates in Rocket Pass?

Crates are not available as Pass Tier unlocks, but you can unlock Decryptors in Rocket Pass and Keys in the Premium upgrade.

Will every Rocket Pass item drop as Painted or Certified Pro Tier rewards?

No. Only a select list of items will be eligible to drop from Pro Tiers, which will be focused primarily on the best Premium rewards from the Pass.

So, are there any other moderately scrubby players here in the mid-Plats? I need to escape the miasma of randos in Standard.

I'm diamond 3 in standard right now I think, I'd be interested in joining... not really sure how it works, I play on my own like 99.9% of the time. Also on PC.

Booted up the game last night after taking a few months off.

Holy. Crap. That new music at the menu. Sooooooo. Gooooood.

I still can't believe they haven't added a way to play music during competitive matches.

Yeah, when the update trailer was released, it was mentioned in the synthwave thread that we hoped that music was a full track. Lo and behold it's the perfect summer menu music.

Blog

Yesterday, we pulled back the curtain on Rocket Pass and how it will give you new ways to unlock Customization Items and additional content in Rocket League. Today, however, we wanted to give you an additional update regarding changes to XP and level progression that are coming later this summer.

XP, LEVELS AND ONLINE MATCHES
Our current progression system tops out at level 75 with the coveted 'Rocketeer' Title attached, with each level requiring significantly more XP (and time) to earn than the last. Our new progression system removes the level cap and flattens the amount of XP you need to progress between levels.

How does your current XP and level translate over in the new progression system? Every player who has earned XP in Rocket League will have that XP automatically converted over to the new system once it's live later this summer (Note: We are still finalizing the conversion logic, so we don't have any additional details to offer there. However, post-conversion, you will still place "at or above" your current level at the time the conversion takes place).

As part of the new system, XP can only be earned while playing Online Matches as Offline Matches will no longer award XP. We're making this change to ensure that no player can "game the system" to earn levels, titles, and other unlocks without putting in the same time and effort that everyone else does.

LEVEL-UP REWARDS
Every time you level-up in the new system, you'll also earn a random item of "Uncommon" quality or better. This replaces the existing 'random drop' system that we're using currently, and it makes earning these items more consistent and predictable. Of course, you'll still be able to trade up these free rewards for rarer content like Painted Car Bodies and Boosts.

Level-based Titles will be unlocked at specific thresholds, and most of the old XP Titles will be converted to this new system. You won't lose access to existing titles like "Rocketeer" or "Legend" if you've already reached those milestones. And we're adding brand new Titles and Player Banners beyond Level 100 to recognize and reward players for their time investment.

ITEM SLOTS AND COMMON ITEMS
We're also changing up how Common items are unlocked on your account. In the current system, you earn one Common unlock for every match you play until you've unlocked everything. In the new system, you'll unlock all of the Common items for a particular slot instantly when you reach enough matches played. For example: you will unlock every Common Topper after 15 matches.

This change won't affect anyone who has already unlocked all of the Common items, and again, you won't lose access to anything you already have.

NEW EXPERIENCE MECHANICS
The new XP updates also bring new bonuses that help you level up faster, including but not limited to:

Match Completion - Earn bonus XP for finishing matches and not quitting early

Consecutive Matches - Earn bonus XP for staying in the same Casual lobby for multiple matches

Backfill - Earn bonus XP if you are matched into a game-in-progress in Casual and then complete it

Weekly Wins - For your first X wins per week (we're still finalizing the number), you'll earn extra XP

FAQ
Will crate drops be a part of the Level Up Rewards?

No, crates will continue to drop in the same way they currently do.

I've been capped at level 75 for quite some time now - do all those matches get factored in to my new level at the time of conversion?

Can't wait to see the new titles. I've been rocking "Rocketeer" for what feels like an eternity at this point.

Im gonna get the pass. I'm a sucker who already spends money on keys. But I'm not really excited for it. Feels schemey, just another way to get money and chase fortnite money.

But I'll always welcome new cosmetics and challenges and all that to keep me playing. I'm sure they'll do a good job.

I'm over 800 hours in and just level 66. It's been my goal to get rocketeer and I'm sad the XP is getting revamped before I ever attained it. Hopefully that title will still exist for level 75 and stuff beyond will be its own thing.

"Nope! It means that if you have the Title already, you won't lose it. IIRC the only Titles are may disappear are lower Titles like Pro and Semi-Pro.

Rocketeer is still a Title in the new system, but it won't be tied to Level 75 anymore."

I'm getting it, and I feel far more comfortable with putting in $10 to get a set of guaranteed cosmetics, than a few decals that i don't want/use. It's a far more consumer friendly model.

Went on a seven game win streak last night, five of them ended up in overtime.

In this game, I almost screwed it up, we were 2 minutes into overtime already.

Lmao.

Can I just say I am surprised they aren't doing anything special for the World Cup, this being football (soccer) on wheels? Even Fortnite has new skins and emotes for it and that has little to do with the sport. They could print money by simply offering an explosion with classic football balls, and 2.99 a piece for skins with a flag as the colour scheme, or as an antenna or something. Maybe throw in a lootbox with air horns, grassy trails, etc.. Legit surprised they didn't capitalize on this, be it because of the summer or the WC but I seem to encounter larger playerbases than usual.

So I grabbed Rocket League on Switch during a sale awhile ago, but only recently put some time into the game. I'm terrible. Just hitting the ball seems too difficult for me. However, I did enjoy my first hat trick thanks to back to back goals off kickoffs. Especially the second with the assist off the idle player...

Man, I uninstalled it on switch because i never got matches in ranked. I had crossplay off because there's a clear disadvantage with digital throttle and vsync and very short throw on the joycon sticks.

I've been getting regular matches this past week, but the week before that it was a barren wasteland. Had a ton of connection issues too. I know what you mean regarding the Joy Cons. Feels completely different every time I switch platforms.

ye but literally only pros and...idk, a couple dozen people in the world besides it? can do it
it'll be normalized within a few months. My tech is so far behind since I don't actively practice anything. I can't even wall to air dribble, but I can defend it pretty decently. That has become so common place that it's just a thing you're expected to know to defend even at low ranks now. Ceiling shots will common soon enough as well.

Pros 2 years ago couldn't do shit Joe Schmoe does every day now. The bar gets set, then it gets raised as more people learn the tech. It's like that in fighting games and works the same here. Most players won't NEED to learn it, so it will be slower to be adopted, but it will become more common, for sure.

It's legit useless in most situations unless your teammates are out of position- it's good in 2s or if your teammates are good at giving you space but that's it.

I really can't believe that I've been playing this game since release, like, I'm still playing on a daily basis, almost three years later.
