Yup. My main issue with Eververse.
Give me a goddamn shader market. I have plenty of dust from shit. Let me buy what I want.

So I caught a video on YouTube about the Braytech Winter Wolf and how rare it is...is it that rare?
I got mine like the first day of Warmind and I think it's easily one of the best kinetic ARs in general, I use it nonstop.. But I was surprised to see that it was considered pretty rare. Who else here has one?

I got that Braytech Winter Wolf AR very early in Warmind, anyway who cares? Ordinary 450 AR, an archetype who's time has passed. Heard some idiot in my last raid carrying on about this gun (he wants it so bad, best AR in the game, blah blah) and I'm just thinking, why?
I mean I guess it's cool model/sight and whatever.
I say that but I think in eater of worlds I'm just gonna start running two 450 AR's. Currently run Nameless+void PO for the Minotaur's, but today I realized I just wanna use my PO on adds all the time because it's so much better since ranges are short. But you can run out of ammo. Two AR's solves that!
Anyways my EOW run produced two 285 cloaks. Finally 285!
I didn't realize that once you're 285 instead of normal drops at 275 Like I thought, they drop anywhere up to 280. Even 280 blues. Somehow that was a nice surprise. Will be easy to max all my essential gear now.
I see quite a few Jade Rabbits in crucible and I know they are just doing the masterwork LOL. After they actually get the masterwork, nobody will use it, heh.
Since I'm 285 only thing left to do is double valor prestige or whatever you'd call it. I'm pretty close. 200 some points away.
People who sneak around with swords in crucible get on my nerves so bad. Then the other thing, people just leave crests on the ground in Supremacy. But somehow they other team Is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT ALWAYS HELL BENT on picking up theirs. I can see a red crest on the ground and set my watch by their team madly sprinting for it. Blue crests just stay on the ground for a half hour till the other team picks them up. It's like they want to win so bad and my side is losing on purpose half the time.

If it generates hits, its rare to youtubers, dont put much thought into it
^I've got a winter wolf, got it basically day 1 as well, used it for a little bit and hated it. :x
My team finally cleared Spire for the first time today, even helped a guy who had never cleared off LFG since one of our regulars bailed out. Happy to have my entire hunter set. I was on team "It's just reskinned Eater armor" but seeing the whole set shadered and put together, I actually think the subtle differences add up into a solid looking armor set. I'm still convinced that it's what the Eater set with ornaments was originally gonna be, but whatever. As long as you aren't wearing an exotic since any other piece of armor shatters the uniform bulk, the set looks imposing. I like it. Coming of course from the only guy who liked the Eater of Worlds Hunter Set.
Haven't encountered so many weird glitches in a Raid since maybe Vanilla VoG though. Ships exploding but not really (mainly just set us back 15 seconds to fly up and hit it again, but it did cause a few wipes), the boss's shield dropping and then instantly popping back up, getting slammed into the ceiling and dying instead of going to space when empowered, all pads being on but doors/lifts not activating, that kind of stuff. I think most of it was weird lag side effects, one guy did have his internet crap out completely right when we knocked the boss to final stand (because of course), and one of our regulars was having teleporting enemies here and there.
All in all though, a fun encounter. Spire is probably the most well realized Raid level content since Wrath of the Machine. Every stage of the raid is enjoyable and rewarding. The final boss requires everyone to be on point and not just able to stay alive and kill adds while a few people do the leg work. I think there's maybe one too many steps before reaching the DPS phase, so it does get a bit tedious, but it's right on that edge ya know? I wouldn't cut anything out, but I still feel like it should be sped up a touch. All the timers are super generous as long as you know what triggers what. I think the biggest reason this feels better than Eater and especially Leviathan is that you get to keep moving and mowing down enemies and feeling like a Destiny 1 Guardian again. Eater was this tedious ass follow the leader stuff for the majority of the raid run time, followed by just being assigned an area and staying there. Half of Levi is a drip feed of basic adds and standing on plates. Eater and Levi just end up being very lethargic as a result, feeling longer than they actually are. Spire corrects that, and makes me excited for The Dreaming City.

it only drops from the sleeper node schematics. the schematics themselves are supposedly once every 10-20 nodes or so, and then there are 4 different weapons you can get from the schematic itself. so yeah, if you don't get lucky early, it could be a big grind to get it, since opening sleeper nodes is just not very fun.
as for the weapon itself, the 450 rpm autos still are decent, there aren't many kinetic ones, and the braytech winter wolf has better base stats than the others in pretty much all categories.
so it's probably the best option if you want to use that archetype, but ultimately it's still just a boring auto rifle that we've been suing for several years
Well the thing is I haven't seen many actually mention it much either although when people do it's a positive mention.
Either way I do think for a kinetic AR it's one of the best in the game, Its become my go to when not using Crimson, and other solid kinetic weapons
I'll say this tho, I got a second one from Cayde the other day so it can come from him as well. So some might be able to get one via Cayde if they can't get it from nodes.
I don't think it's that boring tho tbh, has just all awesome feeling AR with some nice perks.
Ah got ya, wasn't sure if those node weapons worked kind ep weapons in that regard
I got one from Cayde doing a flashpoint today. Although I've had one since the beginning of Warmind since I got lucky. It is pretty damn good. Over 2000 kills with it. Good impact and stability, and a whole lot of critical hits on your target. A simple and solid AR.
the PVP scene has gotten terribly worse.
since the general population has been going down, all that remians are ready made clans.
both Quick Play and Iron Banner is infested by Stack teams while some of us solo queue.

I only got it once. Never again afterwards and I farmed enough to get all 40 Nodes. So yea, it's pretty rare compared to the other weapons.

Yea I think that sentiment is about right. I'm actually surprised I landed a 2nd one.
Like the CoO Prophecy weapons, once you have found one it goes into the planetary vendor loot table so can also drop from Flashpoint milestones on the planet.
Pretty sure those chances at drops only go up to 360 PL (without mods) unless something changed recently. So they wouldn't be considered "Powerful" rewards once hitting 365 PL.
I dont think my friend is going to get the DFA. We farmed for 4 hours last night and 4 hours again tonight. Did at least 25 strikes or more in that time and nothing. We did speed runs, we did high score 80+ runs and nothing. If there is a super trick to them I have no idea what it is.
I've gotten two from the schematic caches or whatever that you take to Ana Bray. Really wanted to like it but I prefer my trusty Guiding Star kinetic AR.
Still hoping to get the Braytech Sniper even though I have the EP one to go along with D.A.R.C.I.
Day 2 with Redrix for PvP. Random data points:
2x Kinetic Counterbalance = near perfect vertical recoil every trigger pull. Actually dreamy.
1x Kinetic Counterbalance = maybe 75% perfect vertical, 25% pulls slightly to the left. Not bad at all.
0 Kinetic Counterbalance = 50/50 which can result in a wider spread horizontally, but generally the same height range vertically.
So 0 is not bad and fairly typical of pulses, but the difference compared to max mods (I believe 2x is the max) is pretty amaze. 2x is the easiest crits of your life and very much competitive with VW though I believe VW outranges it a bit. 1x is fine too but I need to spend more time with it. 2x KCB + foetracer is probably optimal kill securing setup for a Claymore in this meta but I can't take the regen helm off for long enough to really give it a go. Also Desperado doesn't matter if you're being team shot or if you're low HP, so it's def not an auto win fight by proc'ing it.

That primarily drops from nightfalls, and is pretty rare from heroic strikes. Also if you did all prophecies for that week, the materials will stop dropping.
I don't think Ophidian Aspect increase stability at all. It increases weapon reload and handling, which affects draw time and ADS time.

I play solo mostly, and I am shit out of options for NF and Trials which happen to be the only other way to get it to drop

Get into dera man, it's the easiest way to get nightfalls done... I mean it literally can't get any easier to find people for NF runs
Just join the Discord for era, and keep an eye for when they form. It's truly your best option, although it's slowed a bit because everyone got the gear mostly already. Although there are still groups that form up, talk to ruthless as he is always helpful in setting groups up most weeks.
You keep going back and worth between areas. Seriously. Thats how its done. Eventually the game will sync you up with other people.
But like you said, its always about 3 or 4.
What everyone does is message that one guy who's there by himself(you) to team up with them and to allow their friends into your team. That way you have the group of guys that were already there and 3 other guys(that includes you). And now you have 6. Sometimes you'll go one or two moree on top of that.

The amount of times I have to play Distant Shores makes me wish it were truly a distant shore.

make sure you're on the correct LFG. there are multiple, but one of them has like 6,000 members. I've found people on LFG to do things at literally every time of day or night.
Only on D2 do I see people complaining about D1 maps REST IN PEACE
