3 months after taking delivery of our model 3, my wife and are sick of trading off driving days.

Well, I just took my 3 in for service about a year sooner than I was planning. The wife managed to drive through some standing fast enough to tear the rear under aero shield off. No bueno.

On the plus side, the part is only $27 to replace, which is pretty incredible since I was expecting to be out a lot more than that. Tesla also charges for labor in 1/10 hour increments, so this mishap will fortunately only cost us about $60. That may not be enough of a deterrent against future hooning by the wife!

Compared to other luxury brands, Tesla is definitely leaving money on the table when it comes to replacement part costs it seems. For those that don't know, the RFID "key" for the car only cost $5 to replace.

Can you clarify this bit please

At the rear of the car there's a flat sheet of plastic between the rear suspension arms that covers the motor. It's there to keep the undercarriage of the car flat and smooth between the battery pack and rear bumper cover. Apparently my wife entered a puddle deep enough to be touching that piece at a speed sufficient enough for the piece to get dragged hard enough through water to partially tear off.

I guess she thought she was driving her Subaru at the time!

For Model 3 owners how is the sound system? I probably won't get one anytime soon but I just wanted to hear from current owners how the sound is.

The sound system is really good IMHO. The one in all the cars to date is the "premium" sound system so no one really knows what the sound system in the base model cars will be like.

Indeed. I'm expecting that announcement any day now. Fucking sucks, as I have to wait for standard range, but even that's doubtful once the rebate is gone. :(

The general consensus is that it is quite good. I agree with the general consensus.

BTW hopefully getting tint installed today, pending the wider roll being delivered to the shop that I will use. Doing 35% xpel ceramic. Don't want to go below legal limit, cuz I'm lame.

I was thinking about getting a model 3 as a daily driver and a performance car for the summer. Worth it ?

The performance of even the standard RWD 3 available now is, uh
https://nm.reddit.com/r/teslamotors...l_3_places_impressively_at_cscs_racing_racer/

I can't imagine what the actual Performance AWD 3 is going to be like. I will seriously wonder if I can find a way to trade my S 90D for a Performance 3 if that thing is completely ridiculous.

Dude! You've had horrible luck since getting the 3!
Sadly this is true. :(

Whenever I see this feature in modern cars I laugh at the ones that actually use it. It's so much faster to just drive out yourself. So much more convenient.
Tight parking spots can be helpful. At one of my office building parking lots the parking spaces are super tight. I'm hoping that by using summon I can exit then park my car making it easier to get in and out. So it's not completely useless but I get what you are saying.

Looks like AWD and Performance options are now available for everyone with a current invite...

And with price drop over what was originally announced. They seem to really want people to buy the AWD and P versions.

Not gonna lie here, I'm looking at this price drop and really thinking I should look into trying to trade my S 90D for the Performance 3. The S is a big goddamn car and driving it on city streets and trying to park it sometimes feels like I'm driving a tank through downtown because I can barely fit. Also this is largely meaningless but going from the S 90D to the Performance 3 would upgrade my 0-60 from 4.2 seconds to 3.5 seconds lol.

Dual Motor AWD seems like a great upgrade now given the price @ $53,000, don't care about Performance that much.

Pre-ordered this May, hopefully I can get it by the end of the year.

Thanks so much for letting me know! Ordered the Model 3 with AWD. Fulfilled all of the requirements (taking pics of driver's licence, insurance, etc). Just need to do an application for a loan which they will process closer to the delivery date (might pay with cash instead depending on the rate). Estimated delivery of Sept. - Nov. 2018. Canadian here located in Calgary.

No problem. I've been checking daily since my father wants an AWD 3. I thought it would show up on my account first since they started enabling AWD orders on reservations based purely by order time (I ordered in store on the first day while my father ordered only a few months ago, he got his initial invite before I did because he drives an S now) but yeah, it looks like everyone with an invite is able to order now. He got the same delivery estimate that you got, for what that's worth...

Is it known when the standard interior will be an option? Or can people already opt out of getting the premium interior?

I recently went to my closest Tesla Store in Northeast Ohio as they just received a Model 3 display model

It was my first time in a Tesla Store and it was an interesting experience. I've certainly read a lot about Tesla stores and seen a lot of videos but it was interesting seeing it all in person. Here's their display Model 3 (sorry for the poor quality):

(See my SXT 2013 Challenger in the top right. lol)

I wanted to take more pictures but they started showing the car to someone else right as I started taking pictures so I felt weird about it. Their display model is exactly the color I was thinking of getting so it was great seeing that in person. The Tesla store employee I was talking to seemed to think that with premium features there will never be a time with the Model 3 where you'll be able to pick and choose which specific premium features you do and do not want. So basically it will only be an all or nothing sort of thing or that's at least what he said. I didn't pry further to see if he was basing that on some knowledge he had or if he was just making an assumption but I would be kind of bummed if what he said was true as I'm really only interested in a couple premium features.

Either way, not that big of a deal and it was really cool to see the car in person. I'm 6'4 300lbs and can confirm that with the driver seat moved all the way back, the driver side door closed and the seatbelt on not only do I fit fine but it's downright comfortable for me to sit in. It was slightly awkward to get into but I had no problems getting out of the car. I will say that it'll probably be a rough ride as far as leg room goes for anyone sitting directly behind me unless they're a child but overall I would say it passed my test. lol

Hmm, I might have to head over to the east side in the near future.

I saw a Model X in Avon the other day. Teslas are still super rare around here.

Same. Though a little bit before this store got the display Model 3 I actually saw a red Model S on the road near where I live (Mentor). It stood out in a good way.

Where's the closest place I could check out a showroom model 3? I'm in Harrisburg PA

That's a good question. I happened to come across an article (which I'm having trouble finding now) two weeks ago that listed the Tesla Store nearest me as one of the Tesla Stores that was receiving a Model 3 by the end of the week. You could just call up the closest Tesla Store and ask. I think the store near me is supposed to get some to test drive soon-ish (within the next month I believe is what the employee told me? I think? lol)

Good deal. I'll have to ask about.
