Bought a Saturn

Need something to make it scale good but... I can't justify the price for just one system, while I can afford it the prospect of dropping that much without having more to plug into it seems... bad.

Easier question - is the OSSC worth it for just the Saturn?

No. I'd recommend getting the console modded directly to do what you want.

I thought about it for a while, but I didn't want to get out yet another device every time plugged in my old consoles. On my GameCube I have a GCVideoX and on my N64 I have an UltraHDMI. They just stay on the console and do what I want without having to double up how many cords I have and how much space things take up.

My HDMI switcher already looks like an octopus. I don't need another one.

I don't know if space is a premium at your place, but if not, also consider taking a drive on garbage night or perusing local garage sales. You probably won't have to wait too long before stumbling on a CRT. I found a 27" Sony Trinitron on the curb for free a couple months back.

I can get a Trinitron for free right now but I just don't have the setup for it. Like, I have the space, just not anything to put it on - it would be on my carpet.

Also, still no RGB so it's kind of a waste anyway.

Oh god I wish I could source an UltraHDMI for my Japanese N64! I'd (almost) kill for one.

I haven't watched the episode since it came out but you should watch MLiG's Saturn video. I completely forgot the Saturn switches between 480i and 240p on some games which causes sync drops and the FM takes a long time to switch between them.

Saturn's arguably a better case than a lot of other older consoles are. While Saturn emulation is arguably superior to that of the actual hardware from a performance standpoint, it can still be pretty ugly and prone to graphical glitches at times. That said, I've had horrible luck finding a Saturn that doesn't have issues, so I've given up on this pursuit.

Just bought one for $200 fully region and disc modded, NTSC J with extras in super good condition from overseas... I've wanted this thing for about 8 years.

If you only want one console and it is cheaper, buy an ossc. My best investment, although I have a lot of stuff hooked up.

Probably getting an OSSC - my logic is it will work amazing on the Saturn but also give me really nice options for a Wii running in 240p, that's been my emulation box for a long time really.

For the Saturn - high failure rate? My impression is lasers in the Saturn are really well made.

Amazing, just played some Tempest 2000 and it's... well fuck that's a bad video quality test.

Rayman looks gorgeous, I get 5x scale so 1080p Saturn is fucking amazing.
