I have a feeling we're starting to go down a certain path there is no escape from.

Hopefully. After this administration, scum like Sanders should be thankful if the worst that happens to them is that they aren't welcome at certain businesses anymore. They deserve much, much worse.

I think people are petty. Republicans that own restaurants may start denying service to people from left even more, which can lead to the left doing it more. I think it's a potential rabbit hole.

It's not illegal to deny people because of their shitty and actively harmful political beliefs.

This country is politically divided, it's just usually going on behind the scenes. Maybe we need things to be a bit more open and up front. Make people pick a side, there is clearly a wrong side right now with the Trump administration.

Not that I agree with you mind you, because even if places started banning libs, I'd consider it good public service notices about where I need to avoid like the plague.

And the Republicans will be in the wrong. Not serving people for taking a stance politically, is wrong. And the left will still be in the right. Refusing service to disgusting people that actively dehumanize and harm families for a fucking misdemeanor, that openly support a foreign powered puppet president known for racism, sexism, and being a trashy person? Fuck yeah. Now that's morally correct and acceptable. Cause you know what? GOP isn't conservative anymore. They are all about Trumpism.

There is no slippery slope here.

Lol not even the same. First of all, what they doing to find that out? Did I run for office and nobody told me?

Second, I would love that. Please, please tell me all the places run by these kind of deplorables. Please make a declaration.

Why is it a "PR stunt" and not someone simply following their morals?

I think many people believe we're now at that stage of human psychological development where people only take action for its worth as perceived by others, and not because they have any genuine convictions. Basically, there's no point in cutting down a tree in the forest, unless there's someone to see it, post it, and start collecting "Likes" on Facebook.

Being pissed off at the lies a racist woman who works for a racist administration is not petty. Stop defending a racist, Tater. It looks bad on you.

That sounds terrible to me. I don't want some signs hanging up telling me I can't enter because I lean more to the left. I feel like this country(U.S.)is regressing more than progressing and I'm fully aware that is because of Trump. Tbh, I just feel defeated at this point.

Let's assume for a moment that you're straight. Would you enter a shop with a sign reading 'No Gays Allowed'? Regardless of your sexuality would you even want anything to do with a place like that?

We're regressing, but it has nothing to do with what happened here. This was progress. It feels like the tides are changing to me. The people have had enough.

Man, I wish stores that didn't want money from my black ass would put big signs up so I'd know who to avoid.

This also goes for my UberEats driver. Trump fan? Fuck you, put a MAGA sticker on your car so I know not to tip you, and feel free to refuse bringing me food based on my blackness. Fuck it.

I'm not trying to defend the kind of person she is. I probably shouldn't have posted in this thread. I just want it all to end.

I guess I'm not as optimistic as you anymore. I'm glad you truly feel like this was a good move if it brings you any sort of solace.

You gotta make a stand eventually, dude. The world's not going to improve if we just hunker down and wait for bigots to pass over us.
I would argue that's why we have Trump in the first place. Racism flourished because it's not the kind you can see, it's the kind behind closed doors. It's the kind that most people deny because they don't say the N word or have Black friends. Racism rose under the surface and now here we are.

I hope republicans start self identifying so I can refuse to do business with them. I don't want my money benefitting people that want children to suffer in dog kennels.

The difference is that Sanders is a publicly known figure and "people from the left" are just random unknown people who are walking into a store/restaurant/etc.

Right, the only real people you could ban from a place would be people of certain races, there's no real way to tell if somebody is gay, a Republican, a Christian, or whatever else. Well mostly, unless there are religious clothing items.

This only works because the person in this case is literally infamous. If you're a horrible human being and people know that about you, be prepared to be treated like a horrible human being.

GOP being hypocrites?

Damn I never thought I'd see the day.
You do realize that anyone who criticised that baker at the time but is now rejoicing is also just as much of a hypocrite, right?

It's abundantly clear that for most people, their judgement on whether or not something is acceptable is solely dependent on the political affiliation of the person doing it.

The Trump party inflicts pain and enjoys it, gays are gays.

Easy to mix up when you confuse moral bankruptcy with being neutral.

Yes, refusing to serve Sanders because she's a terrible person who actively participates in the destruction of the country is exactly the same as refusing to make a cake for gay people because they're gay

Whatta genius

I mean, if you ignore the left's argument having enough merit to reach the Supreme Court... sure. I guess.

People criticized the bakers because they were discriminating against gays, one in a long list of persecutions levied against gays for the perceived insult of existing publicly.

People are applauding this move now because SHS is the mouthpiece of a corrupt, incompetent, malicious government and the restaurant made a statement from their moral convictions opposing her and the horror show she's part of.

Had Jeb won the election, and if he hired SHS, no one would've had any problem with her eating at Red Hen.

It's abundantly clear that for most people on the left, their judgment on whether or not something is acceptable is dependent on a system of ethics and morals the right has abandoned.

Discriminating against a gay person isn't remotely similar to refusing service to a hated liar actively pushing propaganda for a racist xenophobic administration

Yes. I absolutely would have criticized because the two people are not comparable. This is both sides bullshit.

No I would not have questioned the morality or whatever else others are pulling in here. I would have said I would never do business with them and laugh and that's about it. I think you're talking about the Biden guy, unless you can tell me he had a good reason to boycott Biden. I know about a million good reasons to refuse Sanders service.

You go from telling people "you ain't slick" to this? Why am I not surprised. These are completely different scenarios. Like, totally different.

I dunno that baker was denying innocent people not hurting anyone, a simple pleasure.

Sarah Sanders isn't some gay couple trying to get a cake. She's the mouthpiece of a den of evil.
