It's perfectly fine for conservatives to "both sides" this. We told you this was what could happen when you argued for denying services to LGBT. Liberals asked, "Would it be okay for a Muslim to refuse service to a Christian? Can a business post a 'No Republicans' sign?" Don't complain about the slippery slope when you greased the skids.

It is also perfectly fine for liberals to 'hah, see how it feels' this, graciously disregarding any false equivalency between discrimination based on sexual orientation/religion or discrimination based on being a harmful bigot shitheel by choice.

Both-siders really piss me off. Y'know, you people that try so desperately point out both sides, even white knighting for the like of Sarah Dumbfuckabee Sanders, just step off. You know, deep inside, you don't give a damn about marginalized people. You don't give a damn about PoC. Save us your presence and just go where you know you really wanna be, on the Right. Because, for all hardships we've been through, at the hands of racism and a system against us, people that try to say WE are just as bad as those putting and keeping us down, you are WORTHLESS to our cause and our being. We could stand to lose you, because you were never with us to begin with. Do us all a favor, and go where you belong, because it surely ain't among us as friends.

Just had to get that off my chest. People trying to white knight for Sarah, what the fuck are you THINKING?!

I've taken the belief that "both sides" people are either A) Embarrassed Conservatives who don't want to openly support their policies but don't want their team to lose ground either or B) Stupid people trying to sound woke by saying "both are wrong, I'm right". Either way, they're worthless.

Here let me spoon feed you the context required to understand why this is a shit argument that has been shot down like six times already

And she knew — she believed — that Sarah Huckabee Sanders worked in the service of an "inhumane and unethical" administration. That she publicly defended the president's cruelest policies, and that that could not stand.

"I'm not a huge fan of confrontation," Wilkinson said. "I have a business, and I want the business to thrive. This feels like the moment in our democracy when people have to make uncomfortable actions and decisions to uphold their morals."

The owner did not instate a blanket 'no republicans' policy.
She knew exactly who she was refusing service to and explained in two brief sentences why SHS personally wasn't welcome at her restaurant.

I'm curious if that owner does that same "comfort" check with their staff for every diner? I mean sure, Sanders' job is to lie through her teeth day after day, but she's still a person, still a person with a family. She's just as entitled to her beliefs as the rest of us, right?

Don't get me wrong, Trump is a lying sack of shit as far as I can tell and most of the people who work for him are smart enough to know that or are dumb enough to not give a shit. But how they behave doesn't give excuses for how we behave. Golden rule, people.

adamsappel's post is directed against conservatives (from the POV of liberals), just to make it clear. I did have to read it a few times, it could be taken the other way around.

Some of the people in this thread's moral standing would put Christ himself to shame. Are you all hoping to be the next Dalai Llama?

It may seem that way, but I would like to contend that some people's moral standing in this thread are just so low in, that even normal moral standing seems to look even greater than usual.

Right? People truly want to act like this is the biggest injustice right now. The only way I can process this is that these people defending Sanders value decorum and peace more than fighting for a righteous cause. We've got to "behave" in the face of dead kids, split families, government criminality, & public gaslighting or else...something bad.

Well yeah that's exactly it. Negative peace is easier and more appealing to many. Especially the white moderate

Maybe already posted, but Rob Delaney, star of Deadpool 2 and co-star/co-creator (with Sharon Horgan) of the very good series Catastrophe has produced an advertisement for the restaurant:

I disagree.

Please refer to the past 31 pages to find out why.
Yea I understand how you feel but as someone who has been asked to leave an establishment because I mad another table uncomfortable( the sever was pissed as I was her regularand told me the truth) I think it's messed up. I read she was heckled out of there...that's my issue but if the manager denied her a service then it's within her rights as a business owner to do so.

Nielsen was heckled out of a different restaurant in DC. The owner at this restaurant in VA asked Sanders to leave politely. I think you're conflating the two.

Also I'm sure whatever you did to make the other table feel uncomfortable it wasn't knowingly lying to the American people about the immoral and inhumane policies of a would-be despot in the highest elected office in the land.

This thread's probably got more pages than any of the threads about kid's in cages that have no fucking idea where their deported mom went. Just a goddamn clusterfuck of dumbshits smart enough to know how to use the post button making sure everyone knows hate should be tolerated as long as you can fake being nice for an hour. Good job.

I feel you need to read more about this story, read the article posted a few pages back about what the owner's reasoning was to ask her to leave, and in general, read most of the comments in this thread.

You have some misinformation you're going off on in this post, and I feel you need to get more info and not start providing perspectives based on incomplete information.

Not trying to be rude, but please get caught up on the topic if you plan to contribute to the discussion in a meaningful manner, that, or I'd strongly recommend just not making uninformed opinions if you don't want to go through all the background to this story.

Did you serve as a mouthpiece for an immigration policy that was dictated by an actual nazi, which potentially forever separated babies from their parents and placed them in cages?

Cause if not then this isn't the same.

I hope this incident leads to many more administration officials being forced out of restaurants.

I also hope the right wing business owners do some dumb shit like ask Hispanic customers to leave, thinking they're doing the same thing and get their asses sued out of business.

She deserves to be held accountable for the destruction she is causing & supporting as well as her flagrant dishonesty. Nothing more and nothing less.

I've heard several people remark that she appears visibly uncomfortable when she's defending the president, like it's the worst thing she has to endure. Yet she does it anyway. So as long as she does that, she needs to face consequences.

If she has a consciense then it makes her so much worse. If she knows better then she should do the right thing, not be excused for 'choking down' doing the wrong thing.

Good. Fuck this demon. Anyone trying to compare this to gay or black people being denied service is a fucking moron. The left needs to get over itself with this politeness obsession. Y'all would let Hitler sleep on your couch if he came knocking. Fuck the administration, fuck the hateful spokesperson and fuck anyone defending her.

And she knows what the fuck she's doing tweeting his from her GOVERNMENT PRESS SECRETARY account instead of her personal one. This is a spineless, pathetic hit job on a private citizen coming straight from the administration. Sarah Huckabee Sanders can rot in hell.

Right? This administration could be throwing these kids in ovens and we'd still have jackasses arguing "Well, they still have the right to eat in peace!"

No wonder the left can't get out of its own way.

The person that invented the oven sure is a monster... enabling Trump to do that. Golly.

She "deserves" to be tried in an International Court of Law and sentenced to life in prison for her role in kidnapping children and committing crimes against humanity.
