You mean his actual physical appearance? I'm speaking specifically about his clothing/design.
Edit: Vergil was better by far.

We are now.Are we moving on from fanboy wars to ranking how attractive the DMC characters are? Because I'm onboard with that.
This post basically nails it. If you want to prepare for DMC5, 3 & 4 are your best bets. But DmC is a decent action game on its own merits. It's a solid character action game. Worth playing. Not very indicative of the Devil May Cry franchise as a whole, and it won't do a good job of getting you ready for DMC5 if that's your goal.
When your character no longer needs to worry about managing their height or dropping a combo, it gets very mindless very quickly. You may as well just stay on the ground if you're not going to have to work around about gravity and that entire Z axis.
After DMC3 and DMC4, the expectation I have when I buy a DMC game is that it's going to be a game I can put hundreds of hours into learning with all the combo/combat mechanics the game offers. It's a big part of why I hold the series in such high regards. I've got jump cancels, Exceed/Max-Act, Nero DT Summoned Sword juggles, Gilgamesh just-frames, style switching and weapon switching down, and I've still got flying guards, star raves, Lucifer and Vergil to look forward to working on next. It's a spectacle action game. You shouldn't have to spend 20 hours in bloody palace practicing style/jump cancels to do cool shit.
We are now.
1. DMC3 Dante (you have to imagine him remastered and in HD)
2. DmC Dante
3. DMC3 Vergil
4. DMC5 Nero
5. DMC4 Dante
6. DMC4 Nero
7. DMC1 Dante
8. DMC2 Dante
You should try and actually engage with the system, lots of players have found tons of depth and made pretty great combo videos.DmC:DMC meanwhile barely lasted 30 hours, and it only lasted that long because I was actually trying to find something exciting in its combat to hook me.
I mean, it's a list of most sexy, not most cringey.

Yes, it's the best DMC game out there.
Don't even try to @ me!

DmC is probably a good action game if you don't really want to be challenged by combat on any technical level whatsoever.
Sadly, not true. There are people who think the first game is the worst. Like Usyren.
You're assuming so much, and immediately judging people without thought. It was fun to play, some complain it wasn't a real DMC game but I see it as more of a reboot trying something different. Those that hate it likely also couldn't get into the new Prey or the newer Tomb Raider games thinking every game has to stick to its roots. If the game is enjoyable I like them, screw the haters.
Yup I agree, its a great game and stands above the others for me. I personally didn't like emo Dante, but understood why they went that route for his characters origin. I was lucky enough to play this on Game Pass.Yes, it's the best DMC game out there.

OK, I can kind of see that. Uncle Dante could use some more appealing costumes though.DMC3 Dante is too much of a twink and DMC1 Dante is kinda... meh.
Uncle Dante is where it's at, and I'm a sucker for brooding bad boys so Nero's got a high slot on my list too.
I'm sure there are other people out there who are curious if it's worth buying given the sale price. And the answer to those people is yes, if you enjoy these sorts of games. DmC had a different look and tone to the other games in the series, but it was still great and a lot of fun. It just wasn't the game that many fans were expecting, and so it copped (unfairly, IMHO) a level of backlash that the game itself didn't deserve.Furthermore, the OP who proposed the question of "should I buy/play DmC" has already said he purchased the damn game like 10 trillion posts ago. The point of this thread has been achieved quite some time ago.
This man speaks the truth.Yes, it's the best DMC game out there.

It's excellent. It's so good that they had to make a sequel to it with the upcoming DmC5.
Oh yeah constantly swapping styles in 4 using the dpad to style cancel is really fun.
Bruh, I lived through the annoucement of the game. There was a very strong "#notmydante" sentiment before anyone ever touched it.
And I can find a million more tasteful ways of killing an evil priest than jumping to the altar in the middle of a ceremony and shooting the dude in the head with a smile on the face while the people watch in horror before we have any indication of the old man's true nature
Both stories are fucking trash, but the attempts to make DmC some sort of anti woman work of fiction for that particular scene is RICH coming from someone trying to put four games also filled with sexism as more tasteful stories
The only female character in this franchise I've seen treated with a shred of respect is Nico, and there's plenty of time for that change
Avoid DMC4 unless you enjoy playing repeat levels because the developer ran out of ideas
