Whole album is amazing. His first ever track is still my favorite from him.

i spoke to the devil...., fuck love, SAD!, and gospel are my fav x tracks. don't really care for him outside of those few tracks (and absolutely hated him as a human being with all the fucked up shit he did), but i understand why people dig his music, and respect that they feel mournful in the aftermath of his death

BIg Pun pistol whip the shit out of his wife on video and made his kids fight each other for fun. X turned a new leaf(Just like Pun). He realize his importance to the people or as he puts it, his family(Thats what he called his fans)If he was ever found guilty by law and not the internet. Because the internet has the worst mindset than the LAPD. It would have helped him. Because he needed time alone. He needed a break from everything. He was going to get help for his depression this summer as well. The conversation he had with Rob Stone shows how different he was already mentally.

i won't editorialize on the guys life but x's music was legit terrible. it's like a concentrate of all of the worst raider klan tendencies but mixed 10db in the red every time for some dumb reason. ugh

Everything I've listened to gave me the sense he didn't quite have a musical identity yet, kinda reminds me of early Childish Gambino. I failed on Gambino pretty hard at the time but artist development just kind of happens in the public sphere and on SoundCloud now, so maybe X might've gone somewhere.

I pretty much permanently have a bias against him since the whole Drake stole my generic flow shit. So pathetic and his fan base are it up.

i've given ? and the other one before it a couple spins and i think there is an identity there, it just comes across as incredibly contrived, like he managed to figure out how to make icp palatable to teenagers. i'll cop to some degree of old guy 'kids these days' ness here but for most part i can usually appreciate the appeal of things i don't actually like. i think death grips sucks, but i can admit that stuff is in it's own lane for the most part and i get why it scratches a certain itch for people. x is completely lost on me though. his material covers thoroughly tread ground that's been executed much better elsewhere

Vice City and Jocelyn Flores are his best songs. Even disregarding his death, they got me feeling all kinds of things. And the dude could spit, which is a shame that he didn't more often. Vice City, Riot, Infinity(888) and some others prove he could rap seriously. It's a bit of a meme to say he was a versatile artist but it was true, and although his albums didn't venture very successfully into the genres they did IMO, his emo stuff in 2016 is really good, and his hype songs are great too. He was a fascinating artist, sucks he was bogged down by his actions.

Underrated track:

Yeah. I've been sad this week because even though he did horrible, inexcusable shit, he talked about wanting to change. His last song on his last album is basically wondering if it's too late for his soul and if he can be accepted by God. He's an atheist so him saying that is pretty heavy. It's a tragic death to someone who seemed to be heading in a better direction.

Nasir, particularly songs like Everything, are like all the best parts of Life Is Good, without all the bad parts.

I don't think 7 is the magic number for a full LP, and I don't think G.O.O.D. ever justified it that way either, but these projects are some of the best arguments for quality control, particularly Nasir and Daytona.

Explains why that /r/hhh thread has its highest comments all talking about how similar it is, and how damning that is for Gambino.

Low-key think this is just guerrilla marketing for Jase.

It sounds a bit similar but hardly seems like a blatant rip-off

It's also better than This is America so if this is some media stunt it's working on me

KTSE is actually really good. I'm enjoying it a lot.

Ranking - Kids See Ghosts > KTSE >> Daytona > Ye >>> Nasir

Now I raise a question - if you were to make a tracklist for a Cruel summer style album from these, which tracks would you pick?

Easy mode - 14 tracks

Hard mode - 7 tracks.

But triplet is a musical term.
No one in the rap world was uses that term. We just say "ill flow" or "migos flow" You think the Migos sat in their room one day and said "let's rap in triplets?" Fuck no. Not saying is not a musical term. Just saying the majority of people using it to downplay hip-hop at times never knew about it until that Vox video. They use it to act like they know music. But they clearly do not.

This is the corniest backpacker shit I could say, but if Ka replaced Vinnie Paz on this new Jedi Mind Tricks album it would be too nice. Vinnie Paz is still rapping about the same shit he did when I was in High School, but the production is always so good.

also lmaoooo apparently gambino jacked this song for THIS IS AMERICA:

Pretty similar, but this happens a lot in music/rap. The most damning part is the harmony in the beginning leading up to the verse that says "I'm young and black in America" in the same exact flow as "this is America".

Wouldn't be surprised if it was an "influence".

But if you know anything about how music and how it's made a triplet it's like one of the most common things in the world music. Like the first time I ever heard the Migos I knew they were rapping in triplets. I'm pretty sure that's plenty of people in the rap industry that knows what a triple is.

my maaaan. The Games We Play got the nastiest beat of the year, and Reborn one of the most powerful tracks of the year.

should be referred to as an "interpolation"

He has so much of his mental state, and what he's been through broadcast through his music, I honestly don't know how some people don't at least feel a shred of empathy. Was he an abuser? Most likely. Pretentious? Maybe. But the portrayal of his demons through his music was remarkably compelling.
