Play on the second highest difficulty as the game isn't especially challenging. Try to upgrade your inventory capacity as early as possible.

It's a very "easy going" game, it's my first platinum on ps4 and I got it by playing the game and maybe 1-2 hours of "cleanup" after.
Play it as you feel :)

There's a character that will show up outside of bandit camps at a certain point (and I think even as soon as the first one?). Talk to him. Talk to him every time before you go in to a camp. Talk to that man every single time you ever see him.

Tearblast arrows are your friend, especially when harvesting parts. Not to mention I absolutely love the sound they make

This:
Get the concentration and multi arrow skills asap.

Also pay attention and study the info you get for each enemy type. Where it's weak points are and what it is weak too. Also, if those are shielded/fortified in any way (more of a later thing).

Try to get even low-grade bows/arrows that have elemental damage and tear damage as early as possible so you have the equipment to take advantage of the above.

Also, ropecaster everything.

I really recommend not going to the DLC too soon. I got there as soon as I reached level 30 and maxed there. The main game was way too easy afterwards...

Customize your HUD as soon as you're able. Makes it much more immersive.

I also found it a lot more immersive to not use fast travel.

Get rid of the majority of the UI through customization and play on the hardest or second to hardest difficulty.

Maximize tearblasting, aim at different parts of the bigger robots to break off all the plates. Helps a lot. If the hunter challenges are too hard, I believe you can lower the difficulty to the easiest setting without affecting any trophies. I did that in the dlc. You'd have to check if there are difficulty trophies. Inventory space can be an issue, so upgrade that whenever you can. And I would say put skill points into crafting stuff first too. Don't be afraid to disassemble or sell crafting material. You gather it rather quickly.

Some of the recommended quest levels can be deceiving, I remember a few I did at level and was like "I'll try in a few more levels"

That said it's easy get carried away and be over-leveled just by hunting stuff cause it's just fun

Ignore melee completely, it sucks. Get triple arrow skill and deadeye/headshot everything.

Likr many have said, the game is not complicated. It will tell you what to do, so just play the game and enjoy this amazing game. Learn the weakspots of the machines and experiment with the different weapons at your disposal, its superfun

Come on now it's Horizon. It's a very straight forward game you shouldn't need spoon feeding.

Kill and loot every animal you see.
You cannot buy their parts and you need them for essential upgrades.

Sell those grey ancient items like watches whenever you can. It will also clear out the inventory.

Don't create potions from Fatty Meat right away, but make the infinite fast travel item first. Don't invest in Melee. As for perks, go for Tinkerer, triple nock, slow mo.

Ropecaster is great, especially when buffed with handling mods.

Disable quests to avoid the stupid questmarker bouncing left and right in the screen. It's to intrusive. Also try to experiment with HUD options. Wandering around with no HUD is quite an expirience.
Fantastic game. Enjoy.

When using the tripcaster, you can walk right over tripwires you've laid without setting them off. This makes them much easier to use, and I didn't realize until quite late in the game.
