Jesus fucking Christ.

I'll do the proper and fair thing and wait to see how she acts when governing/trying to accomplish shit, but I won't get my hopes up if she's associated with those clowns.
That's a good thing. Money out of politics and universal healthcare. What do you have against progressive politics?

If Glenn Greenwald is on her side and she is associated with this group as others have said:

Justice Democrats
Justice Democrats is a progressive political action committee founded on January 23, 2017 by Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks, Kyle Kulinski of Secular Talk and former leadership from the 2016 Bernie Sanders presidential campaign. Wikipedia

democrats won't stay in power long. they need the likes of Pelosi and Gillibrand both sides of center and left . not JD democrats

For one, she is exclusively a Justice Democrat. So get rubbed wrong, I guess.

Two, well, Funny how Gillibrand was soooooo for Women running for positions. Whoops

Also, this attitude is Petty AF. And she's right.

Anyone who is involved in NY/NJ machine politics is toxic.

As for the new winner, I find it interesting that apparently there was no talk about her candidacy before today on this forum (according to search), not even in Poliera.

There was a good amount of talk about her campaign on reddit, but only on subforums dedicated to Bernie and Our Revolution. Sort of interesting how an apparent distaste for Bernie on this forum resulted in a massive blind spot. I wonder who else is being missed.

Sheesh.

She already rubs me the wrong way.

Reminding me of JD types.

Lmao get these uppity young WoC out of Shadow Fox's politics!!!

Awesome news! Between this/Oklahoma weed and all the fuckery from this morning today has been a damn rollercoaster. Glad to end it on a positive note.

I'm a big supporter of progressive politics.

I also think Greenwald and Stoller are both pricks. Same for Nina Turner, Shaun King, most of TYT and Chapo, among others.

Doesn't stop me from being SO HAPPY tonight though.

you dont put a manchin in a new york, tho

they are necessary to win a west virginia
I don't want to turn this thread into another Manchin quagmire , but I said if they talked like him, even if I was in blood red WV, I wouldn't vote for him. That's all I will say... in this thread.

This thread is about her:

While i agree, a jobs program is probably a far easier sell than UBI, given how reticent this country is with expanding its welfare programs....

The "[candidate] WANTS TO GIVE PEOPLE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY BY DOING NOTHING" ads literally write themselves (hell I just did write one)

If you aint a republican, they'll run ads saying that regardless of your actual positions. Not really something to concern oneself about.

A jobs guarantee seems like actually an extremely conservative policy. Like, pre-"free markets" conservatism.

There was no external polling. Cant watch a race with no data. Internals were obviously done by Crowley, hence his crazy spending.

It's not like either of them are really risked by the JD group anyway. I'm hoping the rhetoric shifts to Cortez focusing on moving the Dem platform where it needs to go on behalf of New York and her people which includes me.

I LOVE Cortez and everything she represents and it's going to be awesome seeing her in the House next January.

But suddenly thinking that guys like Greenwald (who defends Putin and denies election interference) and Cenk (who still denies the Armenian Genocide) are some beacons of progressive thought that we should excitedly follow is not automatically a good thing.

So a group of people who support Our Revolution candidates covered and followed a candidate running under that platform?

We're about to have a solid week of horrible hot takes and massive overreactions from this win, aren't we.

there is a point in that but right now I dont believe you could get a majority of moderate liberals behind "free money". this country would rather force people to work till they die than give them money.

Nah I agree, those people are shit. But, if their work in grassroots is getting people like Cortez elected so be it. It doesn't make me think more of them or less of Cortez honestly. We need more of this.

I mean, I get the hate for Greenwald, though it's hyperbolic as hell. But King and Turner? That's just nuts.

She will have one House seat and will probably get into a committee dealing with taxes or commerce. You don't just walk into congress on your first day and sit on the Nuclear Weapons & Foreign Policy Round Table of Doom.
Obviously . . . but electing someone who has no real life experience is just insane.

No one has experience until they do. No matter your past, Big government positions are always on the job training.

whats wrong with Nina Turner and Shaun King?

Nina Turner is a person who can't stop sniffing her own farts and has done a horrible job running Our Revolution for starters.

She is a nobody who has been riding off of the coat tales of being Bernies twitter troll during the Primary and has rightfully faded from the public image.

This is great and hopefully a sign of wider change of constitute attitudes/motivation to vote for the forthcoming national elections.

This is a really good overview, written a couple days before the primary, of how the New York Democratic machine is set up in so many ways to discourage primary challengers from running in the first place, and starving them of any base of support if they do. It's nigh-miraculous that AOC overcame them

https://medium.com/@ericwimer/97-7f8186faf35f

Yup, as I mentioned earlier, NY dems use many of the same tactics southern Republican use to win.

Voter suppression and disenfranchising.

But WTF is this

Holy shit.
