Yeah I'm pretty much expecting there won't be any other tracks as good as Nice for What in it, and we'll get lots of memes a la "Why we got to fight at Cheesecake"
I mean to be honest I feel the same, but unlike Hotline Bling, Drake didn't really get in the way of me just enjoying the beat in this, so I feel confident in saying I enjoy it.
I think there's a lot of lines in there that regular working people probably relate to. That's really what it's about for most of the pop audience. They just want to feel like they are part of the song instead of being the regular ass office employees that they actually are. Maybe that's why the Beyonce lines about her grandkids grandkids being rich is rubbing people the wrong way.
I think Drake came through with a ton of energy and enthusiasm on the track, really worked for me. Murda's beat is the star, but Drake is solid too. and as you said - drake doesn't actively ruin the track or anything. Like LiveLoveASAP era Rocky or (hot take) Playboi Carti, he punctuates the production
Yeah this is definitely Beyonce's Magna Carta Holy Grail moment and Jay-Z's second - where the arrogance and wealth take precedent over quality writing or personality. And given Lemonade and 4:44 gained a BIG uptick in quality by embracing personal narratives and more ambitious and varied production, this is a big letdown.
Early Drill was so freaking basic and awesome. Track goes. RIP Jojo. Miss the early days from that scene.
