A little offtopic, but with how bad you guys want Ninja Gaiden II, did you enjoy Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge? Does it play like the prior games?

I played a ton of Ninja Gaiden 3 when it came out. It plays really differently then the other 2. They really changed up the combat and it feels worse in 3 for sure. It would still be nice to have all 3 games but 3 is the worst for sure. I really want 2 though, I loved the weapon challenges and I want to do some of them again.

I sometimes question the announcements. While I am glad we are getting new games, did anyone here wish for Cars to work on Xbox one? Or even Jewel Quest?

Dont they have a list of Top Xbox request games by fans?

I am not an engineer, but I believe some of these choices are simply for the fact that they are easy to emulate and little work had to be done with them.
You're more or less right, yes.

Here's the thing: MS is constantly testing tons of games. While they are likely devoting most of the development efforts towards the most anticipated games, any work they put into making the emulator more accurate is going to affect every game. So across development many games will just wind up being fully or almost fully compatible as a happy side effect. So if testers run into a game that suddenly works, or will take limited effort to finish off, of course it's going to be released, rather than strictly waiting for the next most anticipated game.

Still not as good as 1 or 2, but I'd say it's worth playing for some mindless fun. They actually managed to rework a lot of the ideas and mechanics in vanilla Ninja Gaiden 3 (which is a game I fucking loathed) into something that actually makes sense for a technical action game. The boss and enemy design is still very mediocre, but if you're only looking for some pure cathartic carnage then I say go for it.

My BC wishlist:
  • Enslaved
  • Splinter Cell: Blacklist
  • Binary Domain
  • X-Men Origins: Wolverine
  • Ninja Gaiden 2 & 3

Enslaved is one that would benefit the greatest from arriving on the program. On consoles it performed incredibly rough with several problems from screen tearing, late pop in of textures in some cutscenes, and most of all frame rate. MY GOD the frame rate, most of all on the PS3 which I mistakenly first played it on. Combat with multiple bots and outdoor areas with a lot of effects suffered massively on PS3 and really diminished the experience there. It was undoubtedly better on the 360 but those problems were also there but to a lesser degree.

I can only imagine the leap this one would take through the X's enhancements particularly. It would assist in elevating this game to something stunning where before the console versions sometimes obscured a game that, with its terrific art direction, was undoubtedly great visually underneath.

I completely agree with you. The game was riddled with frame-drops and screen tearing.

I'm hoping they make Butcher Bay and Dark Athena BC at some point.

Razor's Edge is an improvement over the vanilla version, but it's still a very poor game. It's a dumbed-down, more linear, cinematic Ninja Gaiden and it's not very good at all.

some opinions were already mentioned, but i would like to add that ryu as a character lost the mystic ninja tone. difficult to describe without some mild spoilers. the overall tone and characterization changed a lot to the worse.

action was not bad, but some bosses and enemies were just laughable. i really really like ng1/2 but could not force myself to ever finish 3 razor edge... imo stay away.

I just started Banjo nuts and Bolts yesterday thanks to game pass. I remember liking the game overall despite lacking the creativity to build anything fancy but I also remembered the game looking a lot better than it apparently does lol. Some last gen games just haven't aged that gracefully I guess, it makes me appreciate the leap in graphics we've had when a few years ago there was endless debate about diminishing returns and all that.

I wish than xseed/snk could reléase samurái shodown sen

The game is dogshit, but it was an exclusive for the 360, an overall a very obscure game, so for historical purposes I wish that they could emulate it on the one

My top three pics for backwards compatibility, I got really into the rare titles on the OG Xbox after I saw a speedrun of Metal Wolf Chaos and fell in love with the destruction and that FromSoftware made it. I was immediately intrigued by the funny story and depiction of the USA. Easily one of my most treasured imports.

The middle one being a sequel to Wreckless that only Japan also only got surprisingly. It's one of the most unknown and incredibly fun chase/sandbox driving game with a focus on traffic chaos with a great replay mode and plenty of challenges to do. It's almost like a cross between Midtown Madness and Burnout and that's a combination I like very much. Also the game runs natively at 720p on an OG Xbox and results are pretty stunning for the time, easily might be the best looking Xbox game ever, trust me check it out. Imagine what the X could do for the game.

The third game there is self explanatory :)

Also Otogi 1 & 2, Outrun 2, Burnout 3: Takedown and others would be fantastic too, Spring 2018 is somewhat far away for new titles but I'm excited to see how far OG Xbox support goes.

Has Microsoft said anything about supporting OG Xbox Japanese titles? I know it's still very early and in a sense I know it's kind of a long shot but Microsoft and Xbox could really benefit from bringing titles to a new market, and bringing new life into games that are in my eye some of the best games on the system.

Kinda stupid that Mass Effect 2 and 3 are only available digitally, if you are an EA Access subscriber. The games should be available digitally for everyone...

Have a question regarding XBox One (X) and Ninja Gaiden Black. Does anybody know if it will work if I put an NTSC Disc of Ninja Gaiden Black into my XBox One X bought in Europe, played on a german account/profile? I am basically asking how the X1 works when it comes to original xbox bc games that where region locked (and still are if you are playing on original hardware without any mods).

Is there always a wave of backwards compatible games every week? Just wanted to know if I could look forward to a new wave every week.

Bummer, really would love to see Anarchy Reigns and Ninja Gaiden II support.

You get to join in the fun of tuning in each week, and then being consistently disappointed with anything that's not your chosen 1 or 2 titles!

There's something of a "where the hell is Ninja Gaiden II?" club here, so you'll be in good company.

I do think its a shame there isnt more transparency regarding the BC programme. I totally understand why they don't, but it would be great if they had a running list of publisher approved titles that are being worked on. How many times have people been tempted to jump the gun and buy 360 games in the sale, in the hope that they will become BC? If we knew it was a case of when, not if then they may see more sales.

I was talking with the wife last night and I'm thinking of picking up a Xbox One S to replace both my Xbox 360 and Blu-Ray Player.

I'll need to see how many of my games are backwards compatible. I figure once I reach a certain threshold on compatible games (And the XBOS drops to $99) I'll make the switch. I figure if I can eliminate one box below the TV that'd be awesome.

It's a shame Microsoft didn't release a SKU of the Xbox 360 with a BR player built in. That would easily solve my problem.

You can kind of feel out what titles will come to BC. Arcade titles are the most common as they are all digital already, smaller and quicker to get through testing. Then ts a case of looking at which publishers give the most continued support for the program Microsoft 1st party, EA, Take 2, Sega, Konami, Ubisoft, Disney and THQ Nordic. However some of those publishers only seem interested in adding their arcade titles and not the disc based games. Having a license for music or a movie or a next gen remaster lowers the chances of a game being made backwards compatible.

Right now my personal assumptions of titles likely to be released soon are the remaining XBLA games from Konami, Sega and Square Enix and disc titles from Disney based on recent release patterns.

My top tip a strong feeling that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax will come out soon and that's on sale this week for gold members.
