This is real car crash stuff. There's no need to sit about pontificating for an hour, al the guy needs to do is play the game. People in the scene will know within 10 minutes if he is capable of the scores he claimed. We've all lied about scores or beating certain games when we were kids, this entire player base got caught in it's own lies. Bullshitting each other in the name of one-upmanship, it's pathetic.
This man did not go to the lengths he went to to hide the fact he was playing on MAME without going any further. He cheated. Save states or whatever, he cheated. Plain and simple.

I can remember one he did in the last few months, though it was for a complete kiss-ass.

I went to Southern Fried Gaming expo earlier this month. Too much pinball to bother with Billy's panel. I did meet him and Walter Day at the booth though just outside the main arcade area. Weird guy, I was polite and said hello to both of them, shook Day's hand and then Billy comes up to me does that grab your hand and pull you in close and he murmurs in my ear "I helped make all of this you know".
I don't know if he was referring to the expo or the charity gaming thing that was right next to him. At any rate creeped me out.

There is a moment after Billy is told the panel is ending (59 min in) where he, without any bit of irony, says "if I could say something nice about myself" and then proceeds to say how he beat a bunch of folks scores in other game but because he didn't do it in a public venue so he didn't tell anyone.
Yeah he can beat loads of peoples scores with his MAME emulator
Dude had space at the Midwest Gaming Classic just days after shit hit the fan and was trying to grab anyone he could to take a photo with him. Super weird.
Yeah. We need people like this in gaming.
I don't know if he's playing a character or not. But he's certainly more entertaining than all those "Hit the Like button, guys" Youtubers that are currently the face of gaming.

Going to arcade expos and droning on and on for hours about how innocent he is and how he has proof is not sufficient. He also cannot explain how his tapes look like MAME captures based on what Twin Galaxies did. Other than it's...duh...MAME captures. Saying "they don't know where the tapes are" is not sufficient for him to be innocent; they just don't believe at this point for him to be providing undoctored footage.
Going on a paranoid rant about how colleges aren't taking his son while sad is not proof of a conspiracy either.

To be fair to Todd Rogers he at least mostly shut up and moved on despite denying the allegations. Billy is making a complete ass of himself. Todd Rogers probably lied so much he forgot it was even a lie in the first place, lol.
This has been his life, his personality and his livelihood for the last 35 or 40 years
It's so intrinsically part of who he is that to see that all thrown away in disgrace is going to be one hell of a shock to the system, I can see why he's doing and saying anything to try and claw it back

Ooh, will have to watch this later. Don't think I've ever been disappointed by a Mitchell video, that persona is just amazing. The fact that he's not a total fraud but a solid player too only makes it better.
I don't know if he can do it anymore, but he does have a near 1M scores on DK, played in public on a real arcade machine. And he was also the first to reach perfect game of pacman (even though he was supposed to fight for that first spot with other people on a competition, and then screwed them over by playing alone first). It's really only his 1M+ DK scores that were sent on a tape recorded from an emulator.
I couldn't make it trough the entire video... did he say anything about all these piles of evidence about ruining him? is he planning to release them? if this was his big redemption moment...why not present them prominently right there?

I absolutely want to turn this into a sequel to King of Kong. Nothing could make me happier than watching this insanity professionally documented.
A truly... unique... individual. He's one of those guys who has zero lag between what he thinks and what he says and at times it's pretty amazing to watch.
