People mad that Japan didn't kick themselves out, lol.

This.

It'd have been nice to see all those teams go all out for the win, but given what could have happened, it's no surprise at all that they all played in a certain way at various times during the match. Japan were just the most blatant and it paid off for them.

This will be Senegal's legacy in the 2018 World Cup:

Lmao
Honestly, at this rate, if the #5 defenseman stretched his arm out and handballed the ball away from the goal, got the red card and the penalty would've been a lot more admirable than him chilling at the post.

I really don't understand the logic of the Japanese coach. Senegal were still in the game and he didn't give a damn. Just accepted defeat today.

Nah. I think people can handle three games with asian and african teams, it's not like there weren't competitive games with them.
I hate stanning for the Americans because they are jerks, but the United States has been consistently competitive in the past few World Cups. If we cared about competition I am sure they would have shown up a better performance than the African teams.

This in a nutshell. The best talent is snapped up in their teens to safeguard the European nations & the structure of most African FA's isn't good enough.
Shouldn't those players choose to play for African teams if they really feel they are Africans? If the European countries aren't obligating them, it's the player's choice.

Japan completely stop playing the damn game. That was ridiculous. And people defend this crap.

All we wanted was Japan to try to do anything, to attack, to at least make an attempt, but those last minutes we saw a team that decided not to play futebol anymore. Completely ridiculous, and I hope Japan gets destroyed by England or Belgium.

People are so salty here. Now bashing the other continents.

Meanwhile, the great champion from Europe got kicked out in the last place by some Asian team.

Because 0-1 defeat qualified them while 0-2 defeat was sending them home. This was after a period in which Poland was threatening and almost scored the second goal. He risked and the risk paid.

Well, here it is folks, the stats you have all been waiting for.

Who was the best continent during the group stage?

CONMEBOL: 4/5 = 80%

UEFA: 10/14 = 71%

CONCACAF: 1/3 = 33%

AFC: 1/5 = 20%

CAF: 0/5 = 0%

Once again, domination by South America. CONCACAF the best of the 2nd tier like usual.

Can we just start banning people who try to start this bullshit Continent vs. Continent bullshit please?

It's not banter. It's not funny. It's just fucking nonsensical spam at this point.

This is a way for them to improve. Some of you really get mad that these teams manage to get 3 matches every 4 years... Let's not ignore Senegal had pretty good chances to advance over Colombia. Also, just yesterday Korea beat Germany. lol
Unfortunately, the number of spots Africa and Asia get has little to do with developing football.

CAF has 55 members, AFC has 47. That's almost half of the votes for FIFA president. João Havelange began pandering to them as a way to keep getting reelected, and Blatter followed suit. Now, I think that they deserve to have their spots, I think UEFA's 14 spots are worse in terms of representation. But like all things in FIFA, even good deeds have an awful reason to happen.

Glad to see CONMEBOL doing better than UEFA.

UEFA should have 6 fix spots only (Italy, Germany, Portugal, Spain , France and Netherlands) and the other spots just be distributed among the other regions.

Japan's number one priority was to get through group. They did what they had to do. Like the arguments against them doing that are absurd. Blame Poland for deciding a 1-0 victory was good enough for them.

Senegal was the best team of the group. Totally their own fault they got eliminated.
They started passing it in the back soon as Poland scored.

Give those spots to CONCACAF if you care about developing football in third tier nations then. Not only did we actually get someone to the next round, we got a quarterfinalist in 2014.

Joking right? CONCACAF have 3.5 spots already (of 41) to CAF's 5 for 56 teams. Most of CAF would beat most of CONCACAF.

what region is ofc?
oceania? so it's only australia against new zealand? the fuck?
unless it includes the whole of south east asia, but it would be strange for sea to not be part of afc

OFC is without Australia. Just New Zealand and other pacific nations.

And no south east asia. -That's Asia.

Man that was a WILD two games. Was awesome watching both at once. I feel like Japan should have gone for it, considering that one Senegal goal would have sent them home, but whatever they did worked.
