I will say, while not flawless, I still stand that Forward Unto Dawn is still pretty fun. And put together as a 'movie', it's probably the best game movie we have. Even if that isn't that a huge bar.

Just an FYI in case anyone was wondering or asking if this is going to be an adaption. The Waypoint blog says it will be an original story. It obviously can include stuff from established material but isn't going to be adaption of specific moments.

Showtime puts out high quality shows like Homeland, Affair and Billions so obviously I'm really intrigued, normally I'd just write off any videogame adaptations. If it was on SyFy then I'd have zero interest, so that's something.

Really though what this series basically needs to be is Band of Brothers, but in Space and set in the Halo Universe.

So hyped for this, great way to get Halo out there prior to Halo Infinite and the next gen Xbox console launch.

Truth be told, I think something tonally close to the PJ Lord of the Rings trilogy would work

Fun, adventurous, some good levity, but also serious.

Find a way to do Halo TV like that and it'll be gold.

You can picture the opening episode.

Keynes and Halsey on a small frigate, surveying the subjects (John-117), the whole King of the Hill game, her handing him the coin...

You mean Keyes? Hmm, then fast forward to him commanding the ship that took on 4 Covenant ships singlehandinly by using mathematic algorithms lol

Went in for a suicide run to by some time and ended up creating the famous "Keyes Loop"

I hope they nail the James Cameron Aliens aesthetic that the Halo series was inspired by. Make the Elites agile and intimidating, the marines fun loving soldiers.

I think it should star Locke as a "new" spartan trying to hunt down the MC who would be a secondary character. Right guys?? Right?

nah...its been told enough. Do bigger better things

It's been told enough? lol. Not as live action, and definately not done properly.

Start with kids being recruted, experimented on. Build up the characters and slowly delve into the world and use ONI to its fullest potential. If they want a complex live action take on Halo, that's where they ought to start.

I would not want more Locke anytime soon. Halo5 was already heavily criticized because of that and locke got that halo movie too. Both were critically bashed. More of that clearly isnt the answer.

I want to play the marine that says "Tank beats EVERYTHING". Make it happen, Showtime. Talk to my agent.

If they take some of the ad campaigns the games have had as inspiration they'll be in good shape. Those Halo 3 ads are basically Band of Brothers down to the old boys reminiscing about their experiences.

Please be good. Halo went from being one of my all-time favorite series to something I don't even open a thread for.

With this series and Halo Infinite, they have a chance to turn this around.

Ever since I saw the Halo 3 "Believe" commercials, I've been dying for an actual series.

On the one hand it's a shame that this is coming long after the series peaked in terms of cultural relevance - this would have been a much bigger deal a decade ago. But on the other hand, this is probably the golden age of television and the delay will likely mean much higher production values than would have been possible before. TV wasn't taken as seriously as it now is.

Can't wait.

This has got to be a spaceship show because rendering infantry combat against masses of CGI Covenant is beyond the scope of even the most expensive TV shows.

Get Ron Perlman back as Lord Hood.

I mean not really. It really all just depends on what battles they show.

If anything them doing Spaceship battles consisting of hundreds of ships might be a tad bit harder.

I had coffee with Jeff Steitzer on
is steve spielberg, steven cousin or something?

It was either him or Senor Spelbergo, but tariffs got in the way.

Looking forward to this for sure. That meeting with Marty got anything to do with this?

There was no "meeting with Marty" that was three people who know each other and live in the same town having coffee and a selfie together.

There are those who said this day would never come and all that.

This has been a long time coming in all seriousness. I hope the script holds up.

Star Trek, BSG, Expanse, etc. have been doing decent spaceship combat for decades. Discovery in particular looks extraordinary. The one thing they all shy away from is large-scale infantry combat. Afaik GOT was the first to pull it off convincingly, and that was using humans (and computer humans).

For the record, I don't think there will be a lot of hundred-ship space battles either. But think about the budgetary requirements of a spaceship show (that's a technical term) versus a show focused on infantry combat. You're talking about a single set and a handful of reusable CGI spacecraft assets versus location shooting and dozens if not hundreds of meticulously rendered alien combatants.

CGI characters are costly as fuck. Rendering lots of them is even harder.

I wonder if it's an adaptation or an extension of the existing universe. Considering the fact that it's a TV series I think it'll be a side story of some sort.

I'm confident it will be a side story, but will probably though intersect with a lot of big moments in the lore during the Human-Covenant war. I wouldn't be surprised if the initial attack of Harvest appears at some point.

I can see the opening being the fall of Reach, because that was a significant turning point in the war that would have affected many civilian and military lives. It also means that it would intersect with 1-3.
