got an evil soul, that's why!!!
if I had my way Rachel would've deleted Max instead to protect the earth
I just finished BtS including bonus episode after waiting on it for almost a year, and almost 2 years since I finished S1..
I'm sad Era :(that stinger at the end....WHY? and the don't get me started on the bonus episode..what a gut punch.
Just to be completely honest about how I'm feeling, I think all the leaks make the game sound like trash and I highly doubt it'll be gay. Hopefully I'm wrong.

i was a bit more generous and reserved in how i put it in my post in the captain spirit OT but i'm with you tbh
Basically. I've been saying this since they announced the game but I strongly feel the decision to make LIS an anthology series (with the only connecting theme being "kids with superpowers set to indie music") is a grave mistake. Square Enix presumably thinks so too, which is why they went behind Dontnod's back to authorize another Arcadia Bay game because they know that's what people want.
I finished Episode 5 a few days ago.
I don't think there's a "correct" answer. It's a knife to the heart either way.
I didn't really like the nightmare sequence either. I get that it's supposed to show you everything Max has been through and all but it just took me out of the game as well.
To me the game is about consequences. Throughout the game Max rewinds time with impunity, the storm is the consequences of messing around with time.
If you choose to go back in time and let Chloe die it just rings hollow to me. None of the events in the game actually happen and Max is the only one who will remember all the events and possibilities with Chloe.
To me the game is about their friendship. Max is willing to do anything to save Chloe in the game. That ending choice to me is the acceptance of the consequences.
As for what happens to them? There's an upcoming comic book that will cover that. I guess it's left up to the player's imagination.
BTS shines a new light on Chloe as well. I should replay Life is Strange again after experiencing the prequel.
Are all these posts about non gay characters in LiS2 and everything just speculation or based on actual leaks? If it's the latter then that should definitely be in spoiler tags.
Just speculation, as far as i know. Nothing in the leaks mentions anything about it
Yup, its just fan theory! I think people are assuming Cassidy, which appears in the files as an AI buddy/"Chloe" alongside the younger brother and a dog, might be a possible love interest
I feel like if they do a direct sequel to Life is Strange, it'd have to take Max out of the equation and focus more on Chloe. Max's arc feels pretty well closed, but Chloe's feels like there's still room for another story. The only problem is that it'd make half of the ending non-canon.
But Life is Strange is not an IP about gays characters.
Again:
"Life is Strange is an entire universe of storytelling founded upon relatable characters facing real world issues, but always with "a twist of the strange" and we have many more stories we want to tell."
Ultimately it's whatever resonates with fans the most.
Developers and publishers like S-E have sales expectations and targets.
but utilmately you do not create a story for the fans. You create what you want.
It's the same with music.
I mean, going from the name, I would've thought Beaver Creek was infinitely gayer. They moved the series to Beaver Creek because everyone's gay in Arcadia Bay (there should be music emojis here but I can't copy it over)

You can always oversimplify something to its base elements like this, but it doesn't fully or accurately represent the themes LiS1 dealt with. The game also delved into things like bullying, mental health, suicide, drug use, euthanasia, past traumas, predatory behavior, etc., and on a more positive note: friendship, love, reconnecting after having grown apart, and a person doing ones part to help those around them. It's a game about "gay girls doing gay stuff" about as much as it's a game about Pompidou. Max and Chloe's relationship is a strong and complex character bond, so if they can convey that once more (regardless of orientation or relationship, it could be about two siblings if they wanna go that way), I will be there once more. I think the heart of LiS is strong characters and powerful themes, so when some of the more hardcore LiS fans are worried or thinking of skipping the game because it isn't gay, that's disconcerting to hear.I'm not even against it being an anthology series - I am 100% down with them leaving Arcadia Bay. Between BtS and the comic, I think we'll have gotten all the story we need from those characters. I just think what made the first LiS (and Before the Storm, for that matter) special is not "indie folk music and dead parents and supernatural stuff and murder mysteries" (although, tbf, I am 100% down with the soundtrack choices), and I worry those are what's going to be the connecting tissue, when the actual thing I'm here for is "crying about the gay girls"
Max's arc feels pretty well closed, but Chloe's feels like there's still room for another story.
Chloe's arc is well closed in the ending much of the fandom opts to reject. All Bae fans did is subtract from her agency and not let her make her own decision in the end, and artificially prolong her life. I don't think there's much of a story to be told beyond there, outside of fanservice.
Hence the comic?I strongly disagree. In the end Chloe left the decision up to Max because she trusted her and the Bae ending is the most thematically interesting.
There's some good fanfiction that explores the implications and aftermath of the Bae ending and shows there is still plenty of thematic depth to be explored.
Here's something interesting. Someone is doing some research using Life is Strange to study peoples perceptions of gender/queer representation in the media. A thread got made about it with details and a link to follow to sign up to be interviewed about it:

Some of the more interesting LiS 2 leak info. Some of this might have been posted in here already but I just wanted to compile it all:

First of all, yes the neighbor boys at the end are definitely the main protagonists of LiS 2.Their names are Sean and Daniel, Sean being the older one.

We likely play as Sean.

It looks to involve the two of them running away and being on the road together.

Save importing from LiS and Captain Spirit is a thing. Can also take a questionnaire to fill in your choices if you don't have a save on the same platform.

Looks like the power is to manipulate objects, basically telekinesis (pull, push, destroy).

It looks like we'll be going back to Arcadia Bay.

My thoughts on the leaks above:
Some of this I'm interested in, some of it I don't think sounds that interesting. I'll wait to see how Dontnod presents it when they are ready to show it off, but it seems to be very different from the first game.
Also no, I'm not just disinterested because of the lack of LGBTQ themes in the leaks, I've seen people insinuating this in the thread and that is not why I'm not currently interested in it. I just think it sounds extremely different from the first game, like a totally new direction considering it's going to be a game about having telekinesis and being on the road with your little brother, and that's just not something that immediately interests me the way "high school student with time-rewind powers" did. I was much more into the chill small-town vibes of the first game, even when things started to get darker in the later episodes. This is going to presumably be out in the woods and visiting different locations and that's a totally different vibe than chilling in a small hometown. The power being telekinesis is not really that exciting to me because I don't see how that can be used as well as time-travel was narratively in the first game, but I'm no writer and we don't have a lot of context about the power yet so I'll wait to judge that fully until we learn more.
Honestly, if it weren't for the idea of them going to Arcadia Bay in a post-ending of our choice from the first game (which I just saw today), I really wouldn't be that in to the story setup from everything I've read in these leaks. I'm totally going to play the game still, I just am currently not very excited and have very low expectations for it compared to how I feel about the first game and how I thought I was going to feel about an LiS 2, even knowing that it was going to have new characters and a new setting.
So yeah, maybe I was a bit harsh when I said it "sounds like trash" last night, but it helped to get the point across about how I've been feeling about the leaks after reading them.
I strongly disagree. In the end Chloe left the decision up to Max because she trusted her and the Bae ending is the most thematically interesting. Letting Chloe die is just cynical.
There's some good fanfiction that explores the implications and aftermath of the Bae ending and shows there is still plenty of thematic depth to be explored.
If I had to guess:
Max and Chloe/Warren appear briefly in some sort of cameo as a final send-off from Dontnod -- remember that BTS was developed by Deck Nine, and Dontnod may want their own opportunity to say goodbye to their characters. It's probably something like Sean and Daniel are at a bus station buying a ticket and Max and Chloe are nearby buying a ticket to California or something. I'd be (very pleasantly) surprised if Max and Chloe actually play a major role in the game.
