This and Celeste prove that indie companies have been releasing some of the highest quality games in recent years

I've been holding off on buying it since I wanted the Switch version. It'll probably be my next game after Octopath.

And every article like this makes me hopefully for our own chances with our Switch port in August. :)
I'm definitely picking up CSH on Switch, it seems like the perfect fit!

Double dipped on the Switch version, haven't played much of it but got pretty far on the PC. Great game, well deserved.

I started playing it last week and a few hours later I'm getting the hang of things, learning you could pogo jump off enemies was a big revelation.

Yep! One more free DLC which is said to be bigger than the previous two and then a Paid DLC which is speculated as a Paid Hornet DLC (For those that have not played Hornet is a character in the game but not playable, at least currently)
That's not speculation, that's what Team Cherry themselves have said is the plan.

It's a incredibly well made/designed game and a great fit for the Switch.

In my original post, I was also saying that the console was still new, widely successful, and that the game itself was fantastic, but it seems you haven't fully read it.
I did read it but not sure what difference this brings to my original point? I'm calling you out on the part of your post that's wrong, not because you're being negative or positive about it, but because you're wrong.

It's an amazing game, the best in the Switch 2018 line up by a very wide margin.

That's good to hear, I played through it on PC and it is an incredible game, one of the best I've played.

The art and animation is amazing throughout the entire game.

Being a first-time console release has got to be working in their favor. I'm not much of a PC guy, so I had never bought/played it before. It's a fantastic title.

A colleague of mine suggested this game recently and I absolutely adored it. I highly recommend it to everyone!

I recently bought the game after people saying how awesome it was. I am enjoying it but does anyone have serious slowdown before getting hit by an enemy or before hitting an enemy?

You mean the slight pause that happens? that's intentional to add impact, happens on PC as well, you'll be thankful for it in some of the faster paced boss fights lol.

I bought it last night. Have barely delved into it, but it feels right up my alley (loved Steamworld Dig 1/2 and Guacamelee).

Also echoing the Celeste love. Fantastic game.

Good, I certainly was one of the people who waited for this release to get my hands on it, and it paid off. Perfect timing with a good release window and just so polished. It's my GOTY and I don't think anything will touch it.

My Indie GOTY 2017. Deserved.

I'm still waiting for the final DLC before I jump back in and taste all of the free dlcs I haven't tasted.

edit:

Looks like Gods and Glory isn't a final DLC. Guess the wait'll be longer.

This game is perfect for switch and Nintendo fans, so it's hardly surprising.

the last DLC is probably a separate thing going by the subject matter.

Tbh I didn't know it was as beloved as it is.
Looks amazing though, really glad it has found an audience on Switch

Well deserved. I bought Hollow Knight because of the effusive praise it was getting on these boards, and a couple hours into the game, I'm understanding why. The game is excellent, and way more than worth $15.

An opinion based on information you can verify, that being the time you spent with a game that has released. RDR2 hasn't released . Interesting choice of words .

I mean, I could understand if you say "Air Mail on Nintendo Switch will have a hard time beating HK" but RDR2 can just as easily compete for that same spot. There are far worse games than RDR2 releasing this year.

Maybe they don't care about RDR as much as you do? Why are you having such a hard time understanding that your perception of how good a game is, has no bearing on someone else's PERSONAL GOTY?

I'm still hoping (praying) for a physical release. If there's no chance, I'm definitely buying it digital.

Your game will definitely sell very well on Switch. I'm buying it for sure. I've got nearly 35 hours of flights and travel at the end of the month and looking forward to dig into CSH. :-)

Hmm maybe I should get back into this game. Really like the atmosphere and it has some solid mechanics... and I was really into it for the first 5 hours, then as the game opened up I started getting lost more and more, aimlessly backtracking through the same corridors etc. Perhaps I'm getting too old for this genre. lol

It's kind of funny that the Switch is basically the indie powerhouse device that Ouya wanted to be (ironically the original platform of Celeste dev's previous game TowerFall). It'll be interesting to see if the momentum carries on.

I don't have a hard time understanding and you are lost. I do not care about RDR and agree with what you said; but I wasn't arguing otherwise in the first place.

This is a thread about Hollow Knight's success and there was zero reason to interject RDR2 into the conversation to shit on it, not when anyone can make a personal opinion about a game that hasn't release one way or another. If he doesn't care about RDR as much as I do , maybe he would not have even brought it up.

Deserves the overwhelming success, most impressive game I've played since The Witness. Best metroidvania is not hyperbole, but truth. I put 50 hours into the Switch version and I'm even replaying it now on pc (Steam version was on sale too). I was just going to check out if the pc version looked better, but this turned into another run through the game. Just a fantastic game in every way, even the soundtrack is incredible.

Robert, how do you feel about the Switch as a system now that you've been using it for a while?

Due to its size, I view it more as a better Wii U (able to play anywhere in the house without worrying about losing the signal) than a better Vita/3DS (kind of clunky to take it with me on errands), however I did just travel to Korea last week and it was super nice to be able to take it with me (I used it to play the Octopath Traveler demo some more; would have played other games too but I'm participating in the Grandia RPG Club). Love how nice games look in portable mode. The lack of a proper D-Pad is a weakness, but livable. The kids really like Mario Kart, Splatoon, and Labo.

My main problem with the system is I wish I had more of a reason to use it. I did not like Zelda much at all (dislike the combat, dislike how it feels like it takes forever to go anywhere or do anything, my favorite part of Zelda has always been the dungeons, and well, I think I just don't think I like open-world games unless they have cool superhero-style movement like Gravity Rush or infamous) & Xenoblade Chronicles 2 was a big disappointment (I hear it gets better later, so I'll give it another shot sometime). My favorite Switch game for the longest time was Has-Been Heroes (really cool lane-based roguelike) & I've enjoyed some other indie games on the system like N++, "Totally not Castlevania 3," and VOEZ. I enjoyed Mario Odyssey for a couple weeks & Splatoon 2 is a fun game to play periodically when I'm in the mood, but mostly I've been neglecting the system in favor of other systems. This looks like it'll change soon though - I loved the Octopath Traveler demo & there's Hollow Knight and other indie games I'm excited to play on Switch. After Octopath Traveler, there's not much of anything big I'm looking forward to for the rest of the year (already imported DQ11) so I plan to use the downtime to catch up on a bunch of indie games I missed ideally on the Switch.

Uhm... I just checked what place it came in on Era GOTY awards 2017. Then I wasn't sure if it originally released on PC in 2016... but nope, Feb 2017 :(

Not in the top 20? Are you kidding me?!

My guess would've been top 5!

Nobody played it because it came out around the same time as Horizon, Nioh, and For Honor. But I put it as my number 1. I did my part :(
