I have this on PS4 pro but only played like 10 minutes of it. Is it worth it to get it for the xbox one x?

If you have a 4K HDR TV it's worth it - PS4 Pro runs at 1080p and - more importantely imo - doesn't support HDR. At least it didn't at launch and I don't think there was a patch? Playing it with HDR definitely made a big difference for me.

It's a highly hyped and critically acclaimed new release for Xbox. I'd say it's fairly disappointing that it's being outsold at release by the likes of Killing Floor 2 and the critically panned Jurassic World Evolution.

To be fair, Killing Floor 2 swept Nier in sales on PC as well by a huge margin.

I really need to get around to playing this on PS4. Just waiting for a good sale for it and I'll give it a shot.

Nier Automata is the best, literally bought it 2 extra times to give as gifts for my friends to basically force them to play it as well. Nier on the ps3 was a good game, but the jump in quality to Automata is insane and makes me excited to see Yoko Taro's next work.

It's not really disappointing that the critically panned Jurassic World Evolution that is selling gangbusters is outselling Nier :P

Jurassic World already sold more than 500k copies on PC. It's doing great.

Won't buy it because of the exploding skirt.
You can play through the whole game and all the side content and see all 26 endings without the skirt thing ever drawing attention to itself.

I didn't even realize there was a potentially prurient element to it until I was well into the game and started reading what fans were saying online.

Like... 2B and 9S both have destructible clothing. It's straight up extreme to avoid such a powerful and unique game, which happens to feature numerous strong women, for one element that isn't even presented in a salacious manner at any point during gameplay.

Literally the only problematic thing in the whole game is the upskirt achievement, which you can purchase with in-game currency if you're dead set against any hint of exploitation.

Glad to the game doing well, more Japanese games to Xbox, please (Persona).
I bought mine from the Argentinian store because of the lower price (in which the game is in the ninth spot, btw). I only wish I hadn't started New Vegas before Autómata, currently NV hooked me badly.

Why did this game not get a physical port on Xbox again? They clearly were expecting a big-ish splash if Square and MS opted to show it at both their E3 conferences so what gives???

Really? Bigger than Bayonetta? And you can tell Automata was done with a lick of the budget!

Bayonetta, the previous most successful Platinum Game, sold a million copies back in the day before the PC port (was at 1.1 million 6 months after release according to Sega). Nier Automata was at 3 million without ever getting too heavily discounted and before the X1 port. It's not even close, it's far and away the most successful thing Platinum ever developed. Even for Square this is a huge success considering the limited budget.

I don't think anyone has explicitly said why but we know that MS has higher minimum print runs for games than Sony (which is one reason limited run games has given for not doing Xbox versions of their releases). When you consider this is a high priced late port of a niche game on a console with a smaller potential audience they probably just didn't believe they could sell enough physical copies to justify the minimum print run and the audience for a game like nier automata is probably more likely to purchase digital games anyways (compared to games with a broader audience).

People who watch E3 are also probably a significant portion of the target audience which is why they showed it off, plus Microsoft focused on it to try and prove a new commitment to Japanese games.

I think I might pick this up in the next couple of days. I kinda want to play through Nier on 360 first before I do, though.

Metal Gear Rising is probably close to 3 million by now. It was by far Platinums best selling game until Automata.

For the love of christ please add BC to the first game. It's the single reason my 360 is still around.

Anyone get reminded of Recore while playing Nier? Surprised I had flashbacks when some of the enemies look similar. The energy balls all look the same too.

Too bad Recore was mediocre as hell in combat.
