Fuck our shit up, Cana-bros and broettes. Also, make sure you boycott Florida citrus and dairy too. Maybe if we drive those folks out of business we can get to protecting our Everglades
Orange juice is on the list, and we already have high tariffs on dairy.

A guide to understanding the dairy dispute between the U.S. and Canada
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/rep...ute-between-the-us-andcanada/article34802291/
Why are U.S. dairy farmers mad at Canada?

Canada has long maintained a high tariff wall on most dairy products. The duty on milk is 270 per cent. That keeps most imports from the United States and elsewhere out of Canada, while helping to prop up higher domestic prices. One notable exception is ultrafiltered milk and other protein-rich dairy ingredients used to make dairy products such as cheese and yogurt. North American free-trade rules do not cover these ingredients, so they enter Canada duty-free.

Fellow Canadians should join me in switching from Heinz to French's kethchup.
It tastes the exact same (I like it better) anyways
Unless you have been brainwashed into the "Only Heinz is real Ketchup" family

My family switched to French's kethchup when Heinz closed their operations in Leamington. I like it better too.

Going anti-Trump is probably his best chance for reelection

This is true but he seriously wasn't in danger to begin with even if this hadn't kicked off. The NDP are basically waring city states and the conservatives are stuck being an unpalatable dumpster fire with the added ting of being too similar to Trump, with elements within them outright adopting his style.

Out of curiosity, do folks in your company see this as unnecessary? Or do they view this as a necessary action against a foe that threatens your way of life?

Our company unionized and our steel workers are union guys in Manhattan, so we see it as not only Trump being a piece of shit and awful at his job, but fucking with our livelihoods. :)

Maclean's:A patriot's guide to shopping during a Canada-U.S. trade war

Upset about Trump's tariffs and Uncle Sam dragging its trusted allies into a trade war? Here's how you can hit back at the U.S. with your wallet

In light of the widening trade war between Canada and the United States—and Donald Trump's broadsides against this country's political leadership—we've compiled a list of products you can support at the expense of their American counterparts. In some cases, you'll be ramping up pressure in key U.S. political constituencies by foregoing products on Canada's tariff list. In others, you'll be boosting Canadian-based operations whose supply networks span the border, reminding Americans which country imports more of their goods and services than any other. After all, nothing fuels Canadian patriotism quite like consumerism and brands (just ask a certain chain of coffee shops). Besides which, once the tariffs kick in on Canada Day, you may be forced to pay more for American-made products you love.

Good. The entire world needs to unite against America right now.
It's pretty much the only way to get him to back down. America can win against any individual country (China might be a bit more complicated as they're more willing to take short term pain), but they're going to struggle pretty quickly if all of the countries affected by Trumps tariffs hit back (especially if they hit back in a politically savvy way).

How are Canadians viewing the retaliation tariffs? Are they glad with the government or is it hurting Justin?
I'm glad. I've got a friend who argued against it because it makes things more expensive for us. Technically true, I suppose, but I can't think of a country that got hit with tariffs that DIDN'T retaliate with tariffs of their own.

But the Canadian tariffs are going to recoup money to help prop up the businesses that have been hit by the American ones. What should Canada do, let lumber and mining get hit and accept the layoffs?

Might as well go all the way and buy President's Choice Ketchup. I'm not sure about the taste but as mentioned above French's is U.S. company unlike President's Choice.

"President's Choice has a stellar track record with supporting Canadian farmers and most of the President's Choice products are actually made in Canada." said Sylvain Charlebois, professor of food distribution and policy at the University of Guelph.

"The President's Choice ketchup ... most of it, is actually made from Ontario-grown tomatoes and processed here."

Good stuff. International community needs to stand strong against Trump and hold their ground.

Show this man toddler the world doesn't revolve around him and keep hitting red states when they can.

Yes, but when Heinz closed down their factory in Ontario and moved it to Ohio, French's said that they were going to use only Canadian tomatoes, which saved a ton of jobs. https://www.macleans.ca/economy/business/why-frenchs-ketchup-is-here-to-stay-sorry-heinz/

On Canada Day, Justin Trudeau will be vising Leamington, Ont., where that French's plant is located

But I think a wave of conservatism is beginning. Ontario just elected Ford who's a huge Trump fan and the insidious fake news is relentless on Facebook

I don't think Canada should consider the US much of an ally long term.

Even if Trump is out, the idiots who elected and support him will remain.

Yet to be seen. Ford is a beneficiary of a change election. It could have been a pigeon leading the party and would have won.

And dollars to donuts the NDP support will collapse come election time.

Singh has zero charisma and has made misstep after misstep ever since he won the NDP leadership. Last I heard, he was looking at a safe BC riding instead of an Ontario/Quebec riding, which will cement them as a regional party for years to come.

I really hoped Niki Ashton would have won the leadership. I'd still vote for him over the Liberals (in my deep blue riding).

Edit: I'm still pissed at the federal Liberals for breaking their electoral reform election promise, and the provincial Liberals for privatising hydro, throwing the NDP under the bus, and helping to elect Doug Ford.

Every country that is returning tariffs back at us are intentionally hitting Republican states. That is next level shit. Eventually, they will break, not all people but many will.
