Mantar has just released a new song, and it is freaking amazing. These 2 guys put out enough sound and aggression for 3 whole bands, and are great live. So without further ado

Song of the Day:

Folk Metal from Turkey. This shit is golden, really beautiful stuff.

Unmissable if you get into any kind of ethnic metal. Actually, from the description:

for fans of folk doom metal, atmospheric black metal, turkish metal, epic oriental metal, mongol metal, mongolian metal, chinese heavy metal, doom black metal, ethnic metal, uzbek music, central asian metal bands, central asia folk music, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, folk metal, xorazm turkic rock metal bands ...

And everyone else for that matter.

You didn't like Necrotic Manifesto? I thought it was a great nod to Goremageddon.
I think Global Flatline was a really strong release and one of my favorites

Necrotic Manifesto has its moments but is overall a little more on the dull side of the Aborted discography

Termination Redux EP was exactly what I wanted from Aborted and gave me a lot of hype for Retrogore

Retrogore was....maybe even more dull than Necrotic Manifesto? Even the rerecording of Termination Redux was worse than the EP version. Divine Impediment is an decent song but doesn't sound like what I want from Aborted (closer to something like Behemoth almost?)

The Bathos EP was straight up terrible (to me, I'm sure people like it) since with lineup shifts they seem to be leaning heavier towards......metalcoreish atmospherey tech stuff. No idea how else to describe it.

With bands like Aborted or Vader I sympathize with them, because they put out releases regularly and it has to be tiring to keep making albums in the same style over and over again.......that said, Vader sticks to their strengths and kills it every time while Aborted can be extremely hit or miss when they try to switch it up

Jungle Rot just released a song from their coming album, and it is another great death metal song, who should've known.

These guys are playing a show in my town with Havok. Never listened to them, what's a good starting point for them?
I wouldn't actually know. I've just listened to their 2013 album "Terror Regime" and some of their other songs here and there. But it is pretty much proper meat-and-potatoes death metal, so I guess any point would do. I sure as hell envy you being able to see them soon, It's been too long since my last mosh pit.

Going to Throw this AF Trooper YouTube channel out there. No clue who it is or really anything about it other than this channel doing nothing but top 10 metal band lists. The videos are well done, ie not too jarring in band changes. They seem to use mostly live stuff. What's cool is that they have top 10 from a variety of countries, then maybe top 10 death metal from xx country or top 10 thrash. I've watched quite a few of these now and it's been cool seeing a list of band's all from one country. Kind of puts things into perspective. Found some new band's too and some I forgot about. I'm curious how the lists are developed and from my 5 seconds of looking at one video description, they don't say. Some number ones are obvious, symphonic: Nightwish, Poland: Behemoth, Greek: Rotting Christ. Not sure if it's financial based or popularity.

Edit: oh yea, Definition from DRI is my crossover fave. I'm not terribly versed in crossover but I do like Power Trip, Municipal Waste and whatever Suicidal Tendencies falls under.

Today I did the collection shuffle on Discogs and listened to the album to find this tune. Were on Ghoul's Guitarmageddon today. What I love about this tube in particular is the use of the sound bites. This whole album is killer though.

Dudes... Look at the fucking size of Hodor next to Kiko:

Kiko's head is like half the size of Hodor's head. There's even a photo of him playing Kiko's guitar and it looks like one of those Ibanez miKro models in his huge hands.

Playing Holy Wars: https://www.instagram.com/p/BkcuNyAAk7C/?hl=en

Wow, I guess I just took for granted that he towered over the kids in the show. Guitar looks like a toy as he shreds.

So I tried searching but didn't see anything related to Immortal's new album/tracks. I knew Demonaz and Horgh were working on something, but within the last month stuff has really started to get interesting. And now we're getting the record on Friday. Any fans/thoughts on the two released tracks?

Yeah I am looking forward to it. People always said that there is no Immortal without Abbath but that's clearly not true, the released tracks are great, sounding better than All Shall Fall, and Demonaz's vocals are great even with all the doubt people had.

I was one of those who had my doubts about what Immortal would be like without Abbath. This was compounded by the fact that Abbath seemed to back up his story about the other members not being motivated to make new music. He released an album and started touring incredibly fast and recently we have had news about his second album. In the same time, we had heard almost nothing about what Demonaz and Horgh were doing.

But what they've released so far is really amazing imo. This is how black metal should sound, this is how Immortal should sound. It's so classically them in ways I didn't expect with Abbath gone. I think this is brilliant and the wait (and silence) has been super worth while.

Fucking loving Wormrot right now, got caught up on Voices. I kinda like the old drummer a bit more. I felt he was a little more raw and expressive.

I agree, old stuff was way more chaotic because of it

Still, I prefer the sound of Voices. Music is somewhere between Gridlink and Tragedy with the edge of their older stuff

Guitar playing on Voices is wild, he's still adding some different feeling stuff while still churning out solid riffs. Vox are on point. I was at their first US show so I have a soft spot for them.

I've been in a heavy grind phase recently...Wormrot, Discordance Axis, Insect Warfare, Cellgraft, Toxicology, Assuck...any recommendations?

Oh and a buddy of mine introduced me to goregrind recently. What a ridiculous genre, so extreme.

I let the internet and appearances keep me from listening to Avenged Sevenfold for over 15 years.

I was stupid in college. City of Evil is entertaining as hell, fuck the haters.

Man, these past fours weeks have been great for my metal journey. Never changing the avatar tho.

It's hard listening to Immortal in the summer. It's fucking 102 degrees.

Just kick on the AC (or sit in the freezing ass office in my case), close your eyes and imagine you're in Blashyrkh. It works pretty well.

I have to say, this album is really firing on all cylinders for me. Demonaz is killing it with vocals and the songs have all be classically Immortal so far. I get lots of At The Heart of Winter vibes from this album, which is perfect.
