Reginald Fields, 12, is the owner of Mr. Reggie's Lawn Cutting Service. With several helping hands from his cousins, brothers and sisters, they are up with the sun every day working the neighborhood.

His customer, Lucille Holt, said she was confused when she saw police, but quickly learned the neighbors called to complain that the group cut a section of their property (about a foot where the two properties butt together) and were in their yard.

On the positive side, Reginald is now getting a huge influx of new business due to the story. I also empathize with him- I used to live next some neighbors that were hyper passive aggressive about their yards. These same neighbors would casually throw sticks and leaves into our yard while I was standing right in front of them like it was no big deal. I always half expected them to call the cops on me for some minor perceived injustice. Anyways, I'm pretty impressed at how good a job it looks like these kids are doing. I would definitely hire them.

Obviously there's a racism angle here too, but my first thought is that lawns in general are a fucking terrible invention.

My mother got the cops called on her by their crazy ass old, white neighbor for having someone come out to remove a tree from my mom's backyard. She complained because the guy had to step onto her property in order to remove it.

I'm sure if it were little white boys and girls, they wouldn't have said a damn thing, or at least I'm sure they wouldn't have called the cops.

I'm pretty sure they were invented so rich aristocrats could say, "look at me, I'm rich enough to waste money and resources on grass and duck shaped shrubs instead of using it for crops or some shit". That's a direct quote from Louis Xvi btw.

But remember, we have to reach out to people who uses the police as their own racist mercenary group.

You gotta be the biggest piece of shit to call 911 on a kid because he accidentally cut 12 inches of your lawn.

Man, when I was that age, cutting grass was the hustle. It's how I got so many games. I'd cut grass all summer long. Props to this kid for being entrepreneurial. Fuck this woman. A hard working kid can make legit money mowing lawns. It sucks, it's hot, it fucks with your allergies... but damn if it doesn't pay.

Ugh..."yard people." Shit will grow back in like a week. Our yard is mostly trees and moss. What is there gets mowed like every 3 weeks. Luckily, that's what the majority of yards in my neighborhood look like.

And also racism.

Yup. Huge waste of water. At least do a garden to use up compost/old food and shit and get something out of it.
We just started installing fake grass in my yard recently. Fuck the real stuff.

Honestly for stupid calls like that the police should issue tickets. It's just fucking stupid. Ugh.

These cop-callers, superdiallers or whatever you want to call them, all seem to share two traits, racist and stratospherically anal.

Mr. Reggie's Lawn Cutting Service.

Great name kid.

I couldn't make out what the officer told her at the end. Anyone catch it?

Yeah, not that my dad's completely innocent in this regard, but his neighbor's a hell of a lot worse. My favorite example was when my dad's neighbor didn't want my dad being able to see over into his yard, but local law prohibited any fences over six feet tall. My dad's neighbor got around this by forming an enormous hump the entire length of his yard and building the fence on top of it to get around the height limit. It looks super-dumb. XD

When I was a kid we played baseball in our neighborhood. One time one of us hit a line drive with a tennis ball into one of our neighbors trees. Two leaves fell out. 30 seconds later you see their garage door go up. The woman there stomped out, picked up the two leaves, and walked back inside with them. Garage door goes down. I don't think I stopped laughing for an hour.

Fucking ridiculous. Someone cutting a strip of your lawn deserves a "Thank you," not a police call.

I get the sense the neighbor was watching him every second waiting for him to get just one toe on his/her property.
I had a neighbor of a customer try doing that shit when I was fertilizing. He would meticulously look in between blades of his lawn on the border looking for pellets and even called to police on me. When the police arrived the expected to se my tire marks all over his lawn. Instead the wrote him a ticket for wasting their time. The guy would drive by me slowly and flip me off every time he saw me in the neighborhood or in town. Salty little fella.

This kid is going places... if I lived near by I'd hire him and tip very well so he can upgrade his equipment.

Holt said the neighbors call police on her at least once a month, including once for her children throwing snowballs.

Holt has also set up a GoFundMe page for Reggie and his business because they desperately need a shed to store all the equipment that has been donated to them, including a brand new blower from a local landscaper.

I've legitimately never come across people that hate the concept of a lawn. Growing up in England, in the countryside, that opinion is so bizarre to me. They're great in the summer and autumn.
