There is no way in hell that baby rabbit would have been able to "find its mother".
That family should have kept the rabbit as a pet, or passed it off to an animal rehabilitation center with the proper resources to help it survive in the wild.
I mean you've got to draw the line somewhere, even if you're a dog.

Yeah, at this rate, I'm actually surprised someone didn't post that recent video of someone's pet dog (in Australia, I think) being eaten by a crocodile that was on the front page of Yahoo! News a couple weeks back.
Nah. I clicked on that story only curious to the circumstance of what lead to that, figuring there was going to be a video, but I wouldn't press play and just read the article. I didn't know that as soon as the page loaded, the video played itself. People blamed the owners because of their lax treatment of the situation (never kept their dog on a leash) and would let their dog run after crocs (which for the most part annoyed the crocs). Dogs sometimes act like kids (some say they are mentally like that of a child), When you are, like, out among things like Crocs (or, well, everything else deadly in Australia), letting a little dog run ahead free to go crazy isn't the brightest decision an owner could make.
Dog eat butterfly, that shit's fine. Don't wanna see this thread turn into Animal Kingdom's Faces of Death.
I wouldn't count that as soon after it's born, they have been a caterpillar for a few weeks already, and it's not like they really get any smarter after turning into butterflies.
Ok i'm going to be real here. I did think this was funny at first. Saw it on twitter earlier today. Mostly the sheer dark comedy of it, combined with the lack of violent signals like gore or screaming that made it easier to not consider the actual reality of what was happening.
Because i do think that this is very sad. The sudden death, the shock to the kids, and i'm very sympathetic for animals and insects in specific, i really like insects and butterflies are definitely the kind of insect that represents absolute zero danger to humans or biodiversity in general.
So yeah. I can find it funny but i know i should not feel that way, so i must chose not to.

Man cats are jerks, seriously. I had to relocate my dog because of the neighbor's cat kept coming in my yard and teaching my dog how to leave, even digging under my fence. Til this day I still have to try to keep that fat cat, that no longer jumps over my tall wooden fence, from digging holes under barriers around my yard. People need to put leashes on their cats.

I actually stop my car and give them the proper burial that they deserve. Caused a 16 mile back up one time but god damnit that dragon fly deserved a burial. Do you guys not? Where the fuck your morals at people....
It being newborn or an adult is mostly irrelevant, the point is that it being killed isn't anything I call funny, regardless of the circumstances. I get why someone would think it's funny, if say, it happened in something like a movie, but when something real dies it changes it to me. Stuff like this happens, its a fact of life and you accept it but still something I don't see humor in.
I think it's the fact that its a bug that probably makes people feel like it's ok to find funny. I guess at the end of the day, I can't anyone what they should or shouldnt find funny, but it's still offputting to me non the less that people think stuff like this is 'hilarous'.
Well, that's the point of dark humor. It's a coping mechanism for feelings like yours.

You know, I think theres a difference between a little butterfly being eaten by dog and something getting mauled. Not gonna touch the video with the cat and dog.
While I don't care either way would you still find this funny if it was a kitten being eaten? It's just nature doesn't automatically make something amusing.
