Its a net positive though. You might look horrible but beards are magical.

I've had a beard for about 4 years now, and (while I was single) I found that not all girls like beards, with a good percentage of them disliking them.

However the girls who do like beards, really like beards.

It's been a huge positive for me, and obviously my girlfriend likes them (she's never seen me clean shaven)

I think they look corny as hell to be honest. Something about long beards gives me the impression of an unkempt person.

If we are asking for better we shouldn't be changing our standards IMO. Male body image issues are a very real issue too and objectification occurs both ways
Somehow I doubt a thread about hypothetical beards on video game characters is gonna give the men on this board body image issues. Appreciate the concern™ though.

User banned (3 days): concern trolling about sexism, false equivalences, strawman arguments + prior infractions for similar behaviour
There would uproar if the OP made a similar thread objectifying women. Loads of complaining, accusations of being sexist pigs, the usual nonsense.

But as we all know, only women can be harassed or objectified, obviously.

Like a Lion's mane, beards are not meant to attract females, they are meant to intimidate younger and weaker males, it's a display of power and maturity

Men feel better with beards

Regular beards are fine. Grow it past the neck, and it starts to get gross.

Juicy is not a word I would use.

Now read that back to yourself as if you said it about females
Instead of doing that i'll do this little thing called critical thinking and once again quote the following:

Because as we all know, male and female sexualization is totally treated with the same frequency and intent, and is absolutely on equal footing...

/s

It's not that hard a thought process. What you're doing would be like pearl clutching while reading the twitter reaction to Hiccup in HTTYD3.

Appreciate the dismissiveness though
There is a world of difference between beard/clean shaven for men and talking about women's breasts or butts. A closer analog would be a thread asking if you prefer female characters with long or short hair.

Neither is inherently sexual, nor explicitly tied to sexual objectification, thus probably wouldn't get locked. Some people would push back probably, but that would make sense given that women receive more societal pressure to look a certain way (i.e feminine or girly which implies longer hair). The comparison you are making is disingenuous, both because of the differences in the way men and women are treated by society and media, and because the comparison you are making is flawed from the beginning

My issue isn't talking about beards, it's about "juicy men". Just like I'd expect a thread about "adding short hair to female characters makes them more juicy" to get pushback

As a man with a beard who appreciates other men's well groomed facial hair, I was thinking today(weird coincidence) that I'm pretty sure we grow them more for appreciation from other men than to attract women. Maybe I haven't met the right woman or maybe I'm just not well groomed enough but I recall being told to shave a lot from women I've been in relationships with. Not well groomed enough is probably the case but it was an interesting thought.

I was at work and this older dude walked by with about a foot and a half long beard split at a 90 degree angle in the center so that he had two big spikes jutting out diagonally in either direction from his chin. That's what led to thinking about this.

Do you guys have any idea how much beard balm and oil cost. Don't even get me started on my Kalamazoo Beard Wash. A beard is a great responsibility, the power of which can't be ignored.

It's entirely up to individual preference. I'm into guys but personally I hate facial hair. It's an instant turn-off for me, so I'll say no thanks when it comes to beards for guys in video games too. =P

3 pages in and I've yet to comprehend the meaning of the adjective 'juicy' when used in this context. It's like...one of the last words I would use in a sentence like this. I just don't get it...

As a dude who is into dudes (bearded or otherwise) I still kind of find this thread gross? Yes, women have it far worse, but I don't see how that changes the creep factor of making a thread talking about how juicy certain men are.

What does juicy mean in this context?
Is it sexual or just stronger characterization?

People got banned, I guess be careful?

If there would be an exception to this rule I think it would be Adam Jensen, dude looks bad with his "futuristic", uneven beard.

I almost think he would look better clean-shaven or maybe grow it some more.

Edit: tbf, though, the designers butchered his model in Mankind Divided. He looked better last gen, in Human Revolution.

A big beard usually tells me the guy doesn't give a fuck and it probably has old food in it. Fucking gross.

If you say something like that to a female character it would be sexist

I'm not sure I agree. I think if you had a thread very narrowly about whether a certain hairstyle looks good on women it'd probably be okay, the problem is because of how little boys act on the internet it'd almost certainly go off the rails and become gross.

Not saying that can't happen here, too, but it's certainly less likely.
