No it's not. Also, you were the one to start this discussion with your authoritative statement of "Not until the sticks are symetrical." As if to say what I said was wrong.

Learn to accept opinions there bud.
NO You started it with your statement of what controllers are best. I replied to that.
Don't make things up.

"Xbox One controller is the best controller, 360 second, Switch Pro third despite its lack of analogue triggers." - authoritative statement

I hate it, its too wide and the touchpad just sucks, gimmicks out the ass with this thing. Some games are hard to play because my thumbs touch the touchpad when using the analog stick and it messes my character up depending on the game.

No, my statement was my opinion, nothing authoritative about it, nor should I have needed to put imo. But your statement was a direct response to my statement. It's clear as day that you got defensive. Stop with your alternative facts.

I never really think about the differences between controllers. Maybe my hands are just very average :) I don't really care whether I'm using the DualShock 4 on my PS4 or a an Xbone controller on my PC. The difference seems negligible to me.

The ds4 is the most comfortable controllers I've ever used, far more than the xbox one/one x controllers.
Last gen the xbox 360 controller was my favorite by far, and can't believe microsoft created such an uncomfortable controller as a follow-up.
The controller is one of the reasons I've sold my xbox one and one x.

Yes, Sony hardware all around needs work. Seriously need to get an adapter so I can use my elite on my PS4. It would make GoW more enjoyable.

I got long fingers. My wrists end up pulling back at an awkward position with the DS4 and the left stick placement is not natural for the thumb. Still, I've gotten used to it. Xbox Duke was the greatest of all time. So round and comfortable, fit my hands perfectly.

I thought the Xbox 360 controller was as good as it got. Then I got an Xbox One controller, oh my!
The DualShock 4 is an obsolete design. Some people like it but I do not.

Nacon recommendation looks like something I have to look into.

OP, the brook adapter is great and probably the cheapest solution.

Ds4 - Love
  • Not having to buy batteries
  • InBuilt speaker is used for some cool stuff
  • Touchpad and its usage in games
  • Can throw it at someone and not kill them

Ds4 Hate
  • Shitting build quality (rubber peeling...buttons and triggers sticking)
  • The giant fucking flashlight on the top
  • The trigger buttons feel cheap..particularly the lack of haptic feedback and range of the button press
  • Its a controller made for girls or little boys..or people with small hands
Xbox Controller - Love
  • Stick placement is more suited for shooters and driving games
  • Haptic feedback on triggers is great and the range of motion means for more of a precision press
  • Controller is large and feels solid
Xbox Controller - Hate
  • Can chew through batteries fast if you pug in headphones and added crap to it
  • Cant throw it at someones head or plasterwall as the controller will go straight through wall into the wall cavity splitting its sticks...the battery cover...the dpad into the deeper recess of the wall which requires you having to make another hole in the wall to retrieve the other parts of the controller
  • Giving up on trying to find all the pieces of your control and realising how much the elite controls cost

Yeah, overall, I'd have to say I'd pick the XB1 controller over any official console controller. The only caveat is for fighting games, as I still prefer the dpad sitting straight to the left of the buttons.

I couldn't understand the hype for the DS4 when I first used it. It's fine, but maybe people just hated the DS3? I liked the DS2 though, weirdly enough!

I'm female and I have pretty little hands, especially compared to the average guy. I was initially really put off at the thought of the DS4 pad after coming from decades of Xbox controllers, in my head they were bad controllers. After using them, and getting used to the stick placement etc, I actually quite like it, I might even say it's a better fit for me than an Xbox pad. I can't get used to the buttons though, my brain is hardwired Y,B,X,A. The shapes still haven't sunk in at all, and I can just never remember which ones are which with L/R1,2,3, it seems much more sensible calling them stick, bumper, trigger! I like how the light bar changes colours for certain things, and I like that sound plays from it, it really adds to the immersion when it is implemented well.

I know they do an officially licenced controller here in the UK, Nacon Revolution Pro, a wired pad with style and stick layout matching an Xbox pad. It's expensive, I think about £90. I had intended on buying it, expecting to hate the DS4, but luckily I didn't end up needing it.

Working in video game retail and seeing the state of some controllers we receive as returns or tradeins, I don't believe for a second anyone who tells me that they know how to hold or use a controller properly.

I have fairly average-to-large sized hands and the DS4 was a Godsend for the PS4. The shape of it is just right, and the see-through Crystal design is just

I honestly think y'all is just complaining because it isn't perfect? I truly don't understand.

Just got a PS4 and the stick placement on the DS4 is a huge issue for me.

I just can't get comfortable and it's frustrating enough to have stopped me from using my PS4 much at all :/

Going to give it some more time before giving up but man is it ever harsh.

Hand cramped like a MOTHERFUCKER going from a few weeks of Xbox One pad back to the DS4 for Gow.

Never been a fan of sony controllers. The general feel of the plastic used/analogue stick rubber/shape etc.

Love the DS4 controller. Imho the most comfortable one. The PS3 controller on the other side was way too small.

I used to love the dual shock controllers, but lately my hands cramp with a couple of hours of play with DS4.

I actually like the DS4 because I feel it's wide enough for bigger hands. The Xbox One Controller feels a bit cramped in comparison.

DS4 is hot garbage, ergonomically speaking. If they keep using the 90's dualshock as a base, they will remain with their outdated, uncomfortable design.

DS4 is a *huge* 100% improvement over DS3.

I still prefer the layout and design of the 360 pad for shooter style games but DS4 is damn good.

I agree OP! Every time I go back to my PS4 to play something, I find myself reminded of just how bad the DS4 feels. For me, it's a matter of the handle length and stick placement. It just doesn't sit naturally in my hands and I feel like I'm stretching my left thumb unnaturally to use the left analog.

I must have, like, the perfect-sized hands. I can't recall there ever being a controller that was uncomfortable in my hands, and I've been gaming since the Atari 2600 days.

It's the best controller Sony's ever produced. LOL Only things I would change are (a) more substantial thumbsticks and (b) making the share/options button have a more raised feel to them. I don't like how flush/vague they are. They're like the select/start buttons on the first Vita.

Being an Xbox user since day one, I've never really had the opportunity to try a DS4 (or DS3 for that matter). Does the offset sticks really make a difference? I know ppl don't like using batteries in the X1 controller, so I always use the regular old rechargeable battery packs in my controllers and they seem to last a good couple of days, especially in my Elite, for some reason.

I like the DS4 just wish it had the sticks from the X One controller (which I hate using and find uncomfortable.)

The Dualshock 4 is the most comfortable controller that I've ever used for a variety of games.

I'd probably even use it to play Smash Bros. lol.

Best controller this gen for comfort and functionality across the most genres.

Second only to the Xbox 360 controller

I have fairly large hands and I feel like both controllers nailed it this gen. If i had to choose one I'd prob go with Xbox because of the offset sticks and no touch pad, but if I only had DS4 I wouldnt be complaining.

Dying to get a Switch and try that pro controller.

I hit the triggers inadvertantly often. Hands cramp over long periods. Needs more girth. Trackpad can go fuck itself.

i can play for 10h+ (some overwatch session go that long lol) and my hands dont even hurt. i play without vibrations aswell..those tire your hands out and make your aim worse. on the pc i have the wireless xbox 360 pad which i thought was great last gen but man does it feel weird to play it with again sometimes. When im not too lazy i just go with Ds4windows on pc..but thats not wireless but it feels alot better.

edit// i have normal hand size..not big at all..

I don't really understand the "too small" comments. Compared to a Dreamcast, OG Xbox or Xbone controller sure, but how large do your hands have to be before something is considered "too small" in general? I'm 6''4 and have pretty big (long/slender fingers) hands compared to most and I've never had an issue with the PSX type controller. I actively dislike the "blimpy" kind.

I still prefer the layout and design of the 360 pad for shooter style games but DS4 is damn good.

The is the only time I switch. Third-person shooters just feel better using any version of the Xbox controller from the 360 and beyond.

Not America
I have medium sized hands and aside from that stupid "always on" light bar, I have zero complaints. Unlike last gen, I find the DS4 just as comfy to use over long periods of time as X360 and X1 controllers.

Also, I use rubber grips over the thumb sticks on DS4.

Finally, as much as I love the rechargeable battery in DS4, I wish we had the ability to replace it after it notably loses efficiency.

I've often thought about getting the brook adapter and elite controller to use with PS4. I've actually only held the Xbox one controller for a hot minute and man, that thing just melts into the hand.

I love the DS4 as well though, so I can wait for the new elite revision.

One thing I would wanna do is replace the ABXY buttons with PlayStation symbols on the elite, but i've Never seen them for sale

Calling the DS4 uncomfortable might be pushing it a bit too far.

However, I do agree that the GCN and 360 controller are superior in terms of ergonomy.

It mainly comes down to what you are used to imho.

it may not be a 360 controller (what is?), but i certainly prefer it to the xbone pad (what even are those shitty bumpers?). they're not exactly small controllers though compared to the xbone, so the only thing i can think of is the way you're holding it?

there are third party pads out there that you might find more comfortable. some $200 one was announced recently. sounds perfect for you!
