Gender gap is completely understandable. On average mothers will have more empathy for the kids being split up with families, and the Supreme Court likely to be pro life is going to super energize women voters. November is going to be a red wedding for the GOP. Vote.

No no Trump was just so amazing he was going to buck trends and there wasn't going to be a swing year after the opposite party won the election.

Trump is so awful it's actually going to be amazing. I think we get the House and Senate, but vote vote vote.

This is actually going the other direction because more slightly male babies are born naturally, and women have pulled ahead historically because they've out-Darwin'd men. But with less wars/accidents/violence men are now living past their 20s more often and it's started a slight trend in the other direction.

Quinnipiac, the same poll that gave Clinton a huge lead the week leading up to the 2016 election. I don't put much stock in their polls

How many slightly male babies are there?

This is good news, but don't let this kind of thing lull you into a sense of complacency.

We keep saying this (and we probably should), but at this point it's clear the government isn't going to let the general public become complacent with how dedicated they are to constantly finding a new low.

They also had Northam with a huge lead before the the elections last year and most didn't believe it but it turns out he won by 9 points and they were the closest one to the final result.

Right.

That very factor will likely make this year the midterm with the highest turnout in decades. You can't ignore this government, no matter how you try.

People are so comfortable in believing that Trump is gonna win no matter what. That Democrats will always be in disarray. I guess they say those things because it makes them feel better about being apathetic.

That's clearly not old white women. Young women and women of color at all ages, are on fire. The heroes we need. Saving America from itself.

At +9, the chances of the senate flipping seem far more likely (2-4 seat gain, none lost).

Of course the usual suspects are nowhere to be found unless it's a "Dems in disarray!" thread

Do I even want to know this?

That's Autodidact's name for the phenomenon that the media has for only wanting approval from conservatives. Democrats can't even get interviews during a bunch of huge national stories; the media only wants to be patted by conservatives (Strong White Daddies)

If you're decent, cast a vote. We'll know very quickly who's showing up, the red-hatted jokers or everyone else.

Yep. Republicans, whose base largely comprises white men, have an unearned reputation for competence. White men run everything, so they must be strong. Republicans could never be in disarray or be behind in the polls.

Democrats' base, meanwhile, comprises women and minorities, groups who've been denigrated, stereotyped, and dismissed. Those negative perceptions shape people's views of the party: they must be in disarray because how could a bunch of weak (women), whiny (gays), irresponsible (black) people ever hope to beat the strong white daddies?

When you see that political journalism is largely populated by straight white men, you understand why media portray the parties in the way they do.
