What happened in this thread happens in nearly every ERA thread I've been in, sadly. Shitposting and cynicism is even more common around here than it was on GAF. Probably gonna take a couple years to get rid of these people and hopefully stop their future alts from popping up too. I've had your game preordered for a long time, can't wait.

to be fair though - we had an open world demo that showfloor people could spend 15+ minutes messing around with, and media had even longer to play with --- with little-to-no supervision or intervention

No worries, I won't. I've got this baby pre-ordered for a while now. Huuuuuge Spidey fan, this is literally my dream game.

I still am not sold on this game... it still just looks like transplanting a lot of the Arkham games systems onto a spider man game. Which in of itself is fine I guess its just... boy I'm tired of that combat engine. Maybe I'm wrong maybe its different but boy just by watching trailers the game looks kind of boring. =\

I think the fact that this has the ability to launch enemies in the air, do air combat, and also that you actually have to be closer to enemies than the Arkham games in order to get a hit in will go a long way in making this games combat feel different.

One of the video I saw, I forgot which one, either one of the developer interview or ps access one. They talk about the combat in depth and it seem like the combat is not that similar with Batman. There are more action you can do and require more complex button input. The combat might actually be pretty challenging.

I never said Spider-Man on PS4 was a bad game. I even posted my pre-order receipt. I was just pointing out that E3 awards are kinda dumb. Like most marketing.

I have no doubt of that. We havent seen spider drones gameplay yet. And they keep the weapon select panel from Ratchet and Clank to this game where you can select grenade types.

I think there are more surprises.

The concern trolling has been present in just about any and every Spider-Man PS4 thread tbh, its embarassing for these forums.

This is probably the only game I will buy at full price this gen. probably red dead 2being a close second.

Spider-Man's in it.

Well deserved. It was the first game I went hands-on with at E3 and it was such a delight to play. Fantastic controls, thrilling battles, and a gorgeous open world with so much to do and see. Plus the map was MASSIVE! I couldn't believe how long it took for me to zoom out and see the entire open world that will be available come September.

Insomniac has done a great job and I can't wait to play more in two months. Congratulations on all the wins!

It's a gorgeous, big budget open world Spider-Man game made by a fantastic dev. It's not going to appeal to everyone, but it should be easy to see why it's appealing to so many.

This game looks like it achieves a good balance of high degree of player control allowing for lots of freedom, and streamlined/scripted stuff to retain the fantasy of playing as Spider-Man, similar to the Batman: Arkham games.

I have high hopes for this. It will at least be the best Spider-Man game in a lot of ways by default.

One thing that surprises me about this generation is how few super hero games there have been. I thought we would be flooded with them after the success of Batman + the MCU.

Interesting. I browsed your post history and couldn't help but notice that you don't think Spider-Man, The Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima, or Death Stranding look good. You also didn't think much of God of War due to no jump button lol. So maybe it's that the PS4 just isn't for you.

It's typically exclusive games that get this kind of cynicism. It happens with a lot of Sony exclusives in particular, it happened with UC4, Horizon, GoW, Persona 5, it's now it's happening with Spidey, TLOU2, GoTsu, and it'll happen with DS as well. It gets quite annoying honestly, if you're not interested that's fine, but quit derailing threads just to spread your opinion about how the game looks dull or boring. If I'm not excited for a game I don't feel the need to express that in a thread specifically for that game. I've noticed Era is very toxic in this regard, I almost have to completely stay away from threads created for games I'm excited for, because it almost always gets bombarded with shitposters.

Spider-Man was hands down the best playable demo at E3. I can definitely accept their ratio of nominations to awards.

Supposedly they are nowhere near this game, and that makes me happy too, although I do like the symbiotes, I feel like the first game in a series shouldn't jump right into that.

This team has a proven record, and up against so many expectations for what a Spiderman game "should" be, it's a clear signal that so many people walked away from hands-on with positive impressions.The pitfalls that Evolve dealt with after launching in the "wild" are totally different from the sorts of issues a single-player game like Spiderman might have. If Spiderman ends up having problems at review, it won't be because it won a bunch of awards before launch. This news is fantastic.

Spider-Man is by far my favorite superhero, but as soon as we start talking about symbiotes or clones I'm out.

That said, Maximum Carnage is my favorite Spider-Man game to date (not including the Marvel vs. Capcom series).

It's a shame Caipirinha isn't here to explain to all of us how we wouldn't even give Insomniac's Spider-Man a second look if it was the same exact game that it is now, except called Zpider-Men, and published by Not-Sony.

Marvel, Spider-Man, PS4 exclusive, open world, Insomniac, some similarities to the traversal system that was praised in Sunset Overdrive, Arkham-like, looks really pretty, just looks awesome.

What? If you're trying to poke at the game for having Dan Slott as a writer, he's not one of the main people writing this game, Christos Gage and Jon Paquette are the main writers of the game. Dan Slott has said himself he was there in the beginning just to get the ball rolling.
