Anyone catch this short (movie-length) miniseries that just released on Prime?

97% on RT and the best thing I've seen this year, next to Paddington 2, which also starred these two hotties:

Ben-Whishaw-2.jpg

Reviews:

The Hollywood Reporter: 5/5

"Amazon's thoroughly winning, shocking and funny miniseries from the BBC, Stephen Frears and Russell T. Davies has to be seen to be believed... one of the tightest and brightest and most sublime miniseries — running at a meager three hours, one hour per episode — that you're likely to see on television in 2018"

New York Times: Pick of the Week

"A Very English Scandal" is a dazzling three hours and in pace and potency puts "The Crown" to shame."

NPR:

"As a playground for Whishaw and Grant, A Very English Scandal soars. The actors starred together in Paddington 2, of course, and over and above its manifold delights, it's fun to imagine this mini-series as a kind of alternate-universe sequel".

Directed by Stephen Frears and written by Russel T Davies (Dr Who, Torchwood).

Looked kinda dry and lame from the trailer, but it's from the same director as High Fidelity and really entertaining.

Hands down the most touching and funny/entertaining show on "TV" this year. I'm not sure how it manages to be both, but it is. Anyone check it out?

I didn't know anything about the original trial, but apparently it's the like OJ case in the UK except with a top politician.

It already screened in the UK a few weeks ago, so you might well get more responses from the Brits here. I myself haven't got around to seeing it yet, but I've been bowled over by the positive reviews, and apparently Hugh Grant in particular is phenomenal. Looking forward to finding some time to see it.

As someone who's roughly aware of the original event: It will sound like what you're watching is truly absurd... and it's one of those 'truth is stranger than fiction' things, 'cause it's pretty much accurate.

It's really good. If you listen to any clips of the real Norman Scott you'll realise how fantastic a job Ben Whishaw did with his performance.

Cloud Atlas cast reunion! Based on that this is my favorite movie of the year. Hope to watch it soon.

I gotta check this out just for Frears even though his recent films haven't wowed me.

I find it funny that Stephen Frears is known by the one American set film he did and not groundbreaking classics like My Beautiful Laundrette.

I've got to watch this next week over a few nights. Hugh used to annoy the hell out of me in the 90s and 2000s, but somehow now he's less irritating.

Ben is my bae (in my dreams).

Check him out in Lilting (if you want a cry) and in The Hollow Crown and in everything he's ever done actually because he's great.

Yeah, agreed. I quoted High Fidelity as this is similarly easy to digest, and users will more likely know it.

MBL and Philomena are both masterpieces. This ranks up there too.

Yo + Perfume, Cloud Atlas, and if you must, the modern Bond movies. Whishaw is insanely beautiful and talented.

If you've seen SImon Amstell's autobiographical sitcom Grandma's House, the actor Ben Theodore (played by Iwan Rheon) who Simon lusts after (as in real life) is based (transparently) on Ben Whishaw:
