I vehemently HATE pvp. The moment I see someone invading my game when I'm in my own single player mental zone listening to a podcast I disconnect that shit instantly. I equally hate it's apologists who love to let you know that you're the scurge of humanity for having the audacity to quit out of an invasion with their "stay offline or stay hollow if you don't want to be invaded, stop ruining it for everyone else" rhetoric, fuck off out of here with that shit. I'm not handicapping myself just so that I can avoid some twat trolling me after defeating me with his pvp build and whatever equivalent they have for teabagging in this game. Maybe if people weren't assholes online I'd tolerate losing my progress to pvp. But I'm sure as hell ain't going to make concessions and sacrifice the other enjoyable online aspects of these games and play offline just to appease a bunch of pvp puritans.

That's my rant and I'm sticking to it.

Tell us how you really feel!

How are you handicapping yourself by being hollow, because you want to summon? You can still summon NPCs offline, but online pvp is the risk/reward side of being able to summon. It sucks that people can't play fair or feel the need to cheat/hack no doubt. The fact of the matter is no good player needs to hack, no good player needs to race to Dukes to grab the Avelyn and then invade the Parish. They do that because they suck at the game, take a little solace in that at least.

I don't summon. The only time I've ever (grudgingly) summoned was to beat sister friede. No, I meant handicapping in terms of cutting my max hp down by, what? 25%? I dislike being invaded because it puts me into a vastly different frame of mind then when I'm playing single player. I can't speak for anyone else but for me there's a massive line/divide between solo play and multiplayer. I absolutely do NOT play at my best when I'm in an online environment (social anxiety issues) so when I'm invaded (or anxiously awaiting an invasion) I'm not enjoying myself. The alternative is to play in offline mode and play a neutered mode where I can't interact with bloodstains, write/read messages, or see any ghosts running around. It feels like a no win situation.

Being Hollow doesn't reduce your health in this game, you're thinking of Demon's Souls and Dark II.

Anyone on PS4 play Dark Souls 3 with Dark Souls 3 ring trophy? I could use some help getting the rest of the rings. I need like maybe a dozen, that's it.

About the weapon trophy, do you just need to have held the weapon to get the trophy or do you need to have all of them in your inventory at the same time?

...OK.

It's weird that you write this rant after writing how you were summoned as a Blue Sentinel, which is a deliberate, consensual PvP covenant. But, OK.

I'll stick to invading and keep laughing at people who pull the plug, regardless. That's my non-rant and I'm sticking to it. :) I don't have twink builds and I don't target beginner players, but if I'm still a "twat" because I enjoy a core mechanic of the franchise that has been there since day 1, so be it.

As the Official° worst PvP'er in Soulsborne history, I agree. I never get mad when I get invaded. It's just another death added to the pile, and it makes the experience much more tense. Which is very welcome in these games.

I loved Nightmare of Mensis for instance even though PvP is not my thing at all.

You said it yourself chuckles, consensual PvP. There's a big difference between me opting into a mode that let's me help players versus a more antagonistic mode that crushes my progress and souls. Blue Sentinels works for dipping my toes in a comfort zone I enjoy.

And no, you're not a twat for enjoying a core mechanic, you're a twat if you demonize someone who doesn't.

If it works for you, great! it doesn't work for me.

Sure. But you were complaining about that, too. Then you posted how much you vehemently hate PvP. It just struck me as odd.

You were pretty much demonizing people who do enjoy it, though. Pretty aggressively, even. Just sayin'.

What part is odd, and which part do you need help with? The one where I hate invasions or the one where I'm comfortable playing in the Blue Sentinels? Which part do I need to justify to you?

You were pretty much demonizing people who do enjoy it, though. Pretty aggressively, even. Just sayin'.

No I wasn't. I'll talk shit about the mode, but I don't have a problem with the people who enjoy it. If you're an asshole in PvP then you can bet I'll call you out on it though.

Maybe if people weren't assholes online I'd tolerate losing my progress to pvp..

How does one act like an asshole in PVP? Only instance I can think of where one can legitimately be an asshole is if they're a hacker. Outside of that though, any means for which one bests you is fair game, bruv. Maybe you just need to accept your cruel fate at the hands of your invading foe. No need to get mad at these sort of things.

Also, when you mentioned you were farming as a blue sentinel, what were you farming?

For souls. I was just following the hosts lead :p

And the guy was playing with me, basically rolling circles around me without hitting me for what felt like ages, like I get it, you're better then me. After he was satisfied he easily destroyed me. I dunno, felt kinda assholy to me.

Haven't been posting because it's been smooth sailing after O&S.

Moonlight Butterfly was tragic as I was clearly over leveled. Sif was easy but not easy. I skipped one whole night because I didn't feel like fighting her(?). What can I say, I'm a dog person. Four kings were likewise easy after getting past the "this fight is not how you though it would be" phase.

Then went for Duke's and this is me experiencing it for the first time:

Oh, a boss room. Okay, this seems like an annoying boss run. Oh, there seems to be a gimmick to this fight. YOU DIED. Damn, not looking forward to that boss ru-oh. OH! This is like Hypogean Gaol! *tentacle monsters emerge* NICE!

Berserking-Guts - Well now you know there's no HP penalty to being hollow, you can stay hollow and never be invaded, but still receive all the other non-multiplayer attributes of playing online. Simple.

This is largely my experience too.

Been surprised by how smooth I've found the journey post Anor Londo. For me that level forms quite a distinct line in the sand between the first half of the game and the latter. I felled Sif & Moonlight Butterfly in 1 go. Nito and Seath took me no more than 2 or 3 attempts. Bed of Chaos was about 6 but that's very much a trial and error boss by design.

By contrast there are bosses in the first half of the game that I've literally never beaten without summoned assistance, across 4 separate attempts to play through the game.

Where I'm at now - on my way to New Londo for what I think is towards the end game - is the furthest I've ever gotten in this game, but also with the fastest and most pain free progress. To get here has taken me 35 hours. I last left the game on PS3 at the beginning of Anor Londo, at 40 hours, thinking I'd never complete it.

Sorting through my invasion clips (I just save the funnier/wonkier ones really) I remembered this one:

Does anyone know what killed me there? It looks like a multi-hit from Avelyn or Homing Soulmass, probably from a host perched up somewhere, but even with a Ring of Fog he couldn't have been fully invisible, yet he was nowhere near to be seen.

Just had a cool co-op experience last night. got summoned in Anor Londo into the dark version and helped a host kill a bunch of darkmoons and invaders. Then helped him kill Seath and Nito. Ended up gaining like 200K souls and he dropped me a few weapons.

Already making a second character. This time I want to focus on more of a co-op build using the Great Scythe. This is probably asked a lot but what bosses get the most co-op activity and what levels would be best for maximum coverage?

O&S for sure. I wouldn't worry too much about levels. I'm 75 with a +13 regular weapon and I get summoned no problem.

O&S as mentioned. I also got summoned a ton for Artorias, Kalameet, Manus and 4 Kings. I'd say the fastest summons were for 4 Kings if I placed my sign right outside the fog gate.

I got a good number of summons for Seath by putting my sign down in the hallway before the oysters. Nice to help people get the tail cut, and he's worth 30k each time

But I think it depends a lot on what level you happen to be, and it's not really clear what's best for each boss

You got hit several times most likely by a Avelyn since the Soul Mass leaves traces and need to be closer to aim unless you got hit by your own fire on the floor

Definately looked like you were on the receiving end of an Avelyn but I couldn't see a source, hacker?
Yeah I suspected Avelyn, but wouldn't I be seeing bolts? I also wonder where the guy was, I'm guessing either a hacker or he glitched himself from inside the wall or something.

(And no it's not the fire, that effect is just cosmetic, seen it many times.)

Yeah, I was curious about the fire because you were hit by Magic source or a crit source directly at your head but no souls traces, arrows leaves traces too and have a different sound and the guy hit you in front or above the libary where the archer undead was

Isn't Homing Soulmass invisible if you cast it before the invader spawns? That's why I suspected that in addition to Avelyn. Still don't know where he was though, I reviewed the video where the camera has a broader view of the area and paused to try and spot him, but nothing. Must have been glitched or hacked somehow. Oh well, was curious.

Anor Londo.....

When you first land, the statue giants don't immediately aggro. Is this new in the Remaster? I seem to remember having to fight them right away. But maybe I just panicked and aggro'd them.

You have to be pretty close to aggro them , their job is to defend the chest and dukes archives, the ones on the main building have bigger aggro radius

Hit a few more roadblocks with my Sorcerer run through of the game. Four Kings was giving me grief, couldn't get to the first one before another two would swarm me. How did I get past it ? Other than changing from my sorcerer outfit, to Havel's armor..... I didn't adjust my weapon load out (+4 Furysword), the very next attempt I cleared it easily without taking much damage!

It took forever to go through Tomb of the Giants. When I finally got the path down, I got overwhelmed against Nito. I was swarmed by Skeletons (8 of them!) when I only dropped down at the starting point. It took a few more attempts to get back there from the bonfire reset. And when I made it to the boss fight, I cleared it easily. Key reason - no pesky skeletons near Nito in this attempt.

Now I'm going to the Duke's Archives, I would have cleared that area sooner... but my weapons are too weak against the enemies there (argh 4 hits to take out the little enemies at the start lol).

Definately want to ideally do Dukes first on a sorcery build. I bet you would've had an easier time with 4 Kings with crystal magic and Logan's catalyst and/or Tin Crystalization catalyst. If you're doing NG+ they might be trouble again, for which I would suggest using Power Within as well. Assume you are using Dusk Crown and the Bellowing Ring - both are mandatory for sorcery builds.

By Dusk Crown, do you mean Dusk Crown Ring, or Crown of Dusk?

Crown of Dusk. Now if you use the ring too, that work as well, but not many want to take the HP hit! (I think I have a new run idea!)

I used the ring for Artorias, because I'm comfortable with dodging his stuff, but I needed more spells to cast. I was surviving hits when he wasn't buffed, and that was with 20-25 Vitality. At something like 40 vitality you could sail through the game lol.

Lesson learned haha. This is my third run through on Remastered already gone through NG/NG+ with a melee/pyro build. Thought I'd try Sorcerer as I struggled with it on the original.

Started off a bit shaky, improved a little (certainly have improved on parrying!). I've had to take a few breaks (a few days here and there) as the hue from the soul arrows does something to my eyes. I already had trouble at Anor Londo (skyline being too sharp in Orange - gave me bloodshot eyes!).

Successfully got through Duke's Archives. Will probably die a whole heap despite the end game being readonably close now.

I have the dusk crown and the dragoncrest ring (well I'm wearing both rings that increase sorcery damage and makes the effects last longer).

Undecided what to do after I finish it this time. Might go back to Dark Souls III or play something new.

Finally, beat O&S solo. After a few adjustments to my armor, I just plowed right through them. Should have ditched the lighter armor sooner. Also, it seems like that fight is specifically designed for you to coop or summon an NPC.

Going to go to Sif now. After I am thinking of Asylum Demon>Dukes>Catacombs>DLC>Painted World>New Londo>Izalith.

Dipped back into Tomb of Giant's so that I could get the Large Divine Ember before going to Anor Londo. Holy shit that skeleton room. Holy shit.

Any suggestions on what to do with this build from here on? I've already over-leveled and generalized too much, but I purposely wasn't going for a min/max run, just kind of flying by the seat of my pants with whatever felt good. I'm currently rocking a +7 Divine Great Scythe. I need 1 or 2 sunlight medals to get Great Lightning Spear.. I wish there was a way to figure out exactly how much I need.

I got a Titanite Catch Pole at the bottom of Sen's, I'm almost thinking of pumping two points into STR so I can use that, though all my white titanite chunks have been used up so I would probably turn it Raw instead of Divine.

Edit: Oh I guess you can't modify the Catch Pole. Anyway I breezed through Anor Londo with my divine great scythe. No trouble with the archers, I just ran as fast as I could and kicked the guy on the right side off the ledge. Did everything in one try!
