Point out the drive-by posts. To a fanboy, anything remotely negative is a drive-by. The thing about Destiny is that there are a ton of us who are fans of the series who haven't been happy with how D2 launched or how slowly it's been changed. Are our posts drive-bys too? If I point out how stupid Escalation Protocol was handled, is that a drive-by? How about if I talk about how completely stupid faction rallies were when D2 launched and how Bungie managed to make them even worse in their "fix" for the problem? I liked a lot of what I saw in the Forsaken vidoc, but recent history tells me I shouldn't be too excited for things to change for the better. They've taught many of us to hope for the best but expect the mediocre.

I mean, that gif of a slow zoom on Benedict Cumberbatch's face really isn't adding anything to the discussion.

Looking forward to more info about the expansion. I think the game is really good already, and some of the changes they've talked about could make it truly great.

(Bring back machine guns Bungie!)

Yes, I would gladly trade the slot machines we have now for machine guns. Also looking forward to random rolls and collections and this giant raid they talked about that's full of boss fights.

Did you find TTK mediocre as well? I expect the same change. Which was huge, only difference is they will actually have additional content post launch.

They haven't announced one thing yet for Forsaken that sounds mediocre.

TTK brought with it some really good quality of life changes, but I wasn't one of the people who had a major problem with the gameplay prior to TTK. The biggest issue I had with TTK was that it forever ruined the importance of Xur.

I personally think Xur needs to stop selling exotics. Special legendaries unique to him sure. But I want those oh shit moments with Exotics.

Then don't buy them or ask Bungie to make thoughtful progression mechanics ( not RNG). They not only had to keep Xur, but also add fated engrams because of people putting in thousands of hours and still not seeing certain weapons.

Not excited for Gambit, but looking forward to more details about the raid and the raid space (sounds like it's going to be a full on patrol zone too maybe?)...

Bungie really needs to hit it out of the park. A lot of the stuff they've added has been nice, but feels like it all has fallen short in some small way or another.

I find it weird there is no up roar on what activision and bungie are doing with this expansion witch is basically the outrage towards Black Ops 4 is right now that you need to buy the whole package as a mandatory without DLC being separated and yet they do the same damn thing here and you do not here a fart in the wind of people being mad about it.

GI has had a ton of great cover stories this year, but this is probably the first one that I don't have much interest in. At least the E3 coverage will be a good read.

Both games have been doing that for a while now so I'm not sure why there would be "new" outrage? The BO4 outrage seems to be more around the fact that there isn't a SP campaign and the Battle Royale stuff has zero real details and thats a game mode that requires constant tweaking so people are a bit nervous about how it'll play out. COD has always split its player base with season pass and while people thought it might change with BO4, obviously not. Also WW2 is pretty good so its kind of hard to get a good sense of why you would transition to BO4.

Destiny as well has stuck with its model for 4 years now, game + 2 DLCs + $40 xpac a year later. Taken King and Rise of Iron were both $40 xpacs. I think the problem this time is just a lot, lot, lot fewer people just care about Destiny anymore. Whereas with D1 people liked the base game just got bored and went away, a lot of people in d2 don't like the base game and have a very small desire to come back, period.

This is the first destiny thing I haven't pre ordered and probably won't pickup, just don't see why. I got my "MMOlite" fix with Destiny 1, now I want something much, much better and D2 wasn't even close. May as well just wait to see what they do with Anthem, Division 2, and/or Destiny 3.

Outrage usually comes when people care enough to get upset. The hardcore Destiny players, like me, already own all of Destiny 2, so this doesn't affect us. People who quit D2 before Osiris or never bothered with D2 probably aren't going to make up a huge part of the Forsaken audience, which should concern Bungie.

Yeah this is a notable change from TTK, where buying Taken king gave you the first year DLCs for free.

Then there's a $30 annual pass separate from Forsaken that you'll have to get to stay current in Year 2.

I like Destiny (and play Destiny 2, even though I'm meh on it) but man is it getting expensive.

They will probably announce something for people that don't have the other expansions before release like they did for taken king.

Yeah, that is definitely ridiculous. Bungie and doing the right thing don't usually go together. Just hold out for a steep discount.

Wasn't really expecting a cover on an expansion but, okay. Hopefully they make some big improvements!

Anthem and then Destiny make the best couple of GI covers in a long time. Their video output on YouTube also beats the crap out of the competition by far in my opinion.

They have said they're going to offer additional SKUs closer to Forsaken's launch. I imagine there's going to be some kind of collection where you can buy the base game plus Osiris, Warmind, and Forsaken at a lower price than buying them all separately.

People like RNG, shit I like RNG, fuck a quest to get mida. That was one of the biggest mistakes they made. Handing out exotics like canfyy, they should be rare.

I'm one of the salty fucks that "hates" Destiny 2, even tho I've been playing it pretty consistently since I got it (around Black Friday last year). I enjoy actually playing the game, but there is just an innumerable quantity of irritants that comes with playing it and being a part of that community that makes it so frustrating and toxic to be around. My time with the game has given me the impression that Bungie is a wholly incompetent developer that would have no clue what to do with their game if they weren't incessantly hounded by their community about what to fix. Like some of the shit that makes it to release in that game blows my mind that any team of humans could see it in action and think it could be fun for someone to experience.

So I'm mixed on how to approach this new expansion + coming year of content. If I get it I KNOW I will play it and I KNOW I will get my money's worth out of it. Also I KNOW this expansion is fixing a lot of the things that annoy me the most about the game as it is now (collections/inventory management and lack of loot variety being the 2 major ones). But Bungie has basically conditioned me to expect the worst every god damned time over the last 7 months, so I can't go into Forsaken with any amount of enthusiasm. Especially when there are other, newer games on the horizon that will be vying for my time.

To the haters: this isn't about Activision paying for a cover this is about Destiny, despite all the hate, still being a major driver of traffic and sales. It's the same reason that all the major news website still cover major destiny announcements and the reason this post will probably have tons of pages

Bungie making exotics more accessible is probably only somewhere around #75 on the list of Destiny franchise mistakes. RNG is fine with other systems supporting it. Using it as a solution to everything, as Bungie does too often, doesn't improve the game.
