May is the month, we're coming up on it.

It's ironic that Infinity Ward began the generation with the worst Call of Duty that would be released during it and now they're going to finish the generation with a game that's poised to be one of the best in the franchise.
Sorry COD, first time since COD4 I'm telling you no more.
Looking forward to seeing you on launch night!

Good news for those who are looking forward to it. I hadn't bought a call of duty since call of duty 2 on Xbox 360. I grabbed blops 4 in October and just never really liked it enough to put in the hours. The BR was okay, but I fell off once Apex launched. I really wish I liked it but I think I'm just done with the series.

Maybe I would enjoy the campaigns?

Kingdom Hearts 2 came out in 2005.
Kingdom Hearts 3 came out in 2019.

Thank you, next!
I love how you're so proud of your "takedown" that you think you just shot down any argument I could have.

When it comes to batshit insane game titles no series is worse than KH. They practically revel in them with subtitles within subtitles, Roman numerals combined with Arabic decimals, fucking fractions in their titles, it's a goddamn mess.

Kingdom Hearts is an exception when it comes to naming conventions. Not the rule.

Okay, how about this then.

RAGE came out in 2011.
RAGE 2 is coming out this year, 2019.

Modern Warfare 3 came out in 2011.
Modern Warfare 4 (if it exists) will be coming out this year, 2019.

And why is everyone assuming it's a MW sequel? Did it leak? There's no way they'll call this Modern Warfare 4. Maybe Modern Warfare but no "4". Not when Part 3 released almost a decade ago.

I don't think there's hard and fast rules, but they may choose to call it Modern Warfare (no number) if it's a soft-reboot rather than a direct story continuation. Considering how fucking bonkers MW2/3 got in their plots I wouldn't expect a sequel to those characters and plotlines directly.

Not sure why people get excited for the yearly cod that gets abandoned after 12 months in favor of the new one. And so it continues.

I understand why Actvision do it though since it always sells.

Same, in addition those same people all criticize Activision with how it treats it's employees and business practices but as usual they continue to support those behaviors.

What are the chances of a MWR 2 and MWR 3 being packed in with MW 4 as an Ultimate Edition? Would love this.

Haven't bought a call of duty since whatever game came with CoD4 remake. Modern Warfare are my favorite series of CoD. Will jump in.

I think IW are gonna knock it out of the park, especially with all those Respawn devs that came back

Isn't Sony's deal up too? For the first time we might actually all get DLC the same day
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Nobody knows as the relevant parties never comment on the length of those deals, anything people say is just pure speculation.
But if I had to guess the deal is still ongoing. With Black Ops 3, Infinite Warfare and WWII we had 30 days exclusivity for new maps, but for Black Ops 4 that suddenly changed to 7 days exclusivity for all new content. To me the fact that the exclusivity deal changed indicates that Activision and Sony signed a new deal last year, and I doubt it was just a 1 year deal. Also note how these athletes are playing on PS4, if there was no longer a deal Activision would probably let them play the best looking version of the game (XB1X or PC).

Black Ops 4 was mechanically excellent with tons of great content, but missing features at launch, no campaign, horrible post-launch support and even worse MTXs than usual made me fall off it quicker than Black Ops 3, which unlike many here I adored. Activision and Infinity Ward's got plenty of convincing to do, because their handling of the franchise after the day of launch is far from ideal nowadays.

If it's MW4 and there's no MW2R multiplayer, they'd better step MW4's multiplayer the hell up. I want every gun to be powerful. Don't give me poop shotguns as secondaries, or a burst pistol that can't even cave a guy in without dumping half your magazine into them. And don't shortchange the weapon count at launch, either. Black Ops 4's gun selection is paltry, especially when 3/4ths of it are just guns we've been using since BO2/3.

Say what you will about Infinite Warfare, but it was actually pretty good in that regard. I just hope InfinityWard doesn't take the wrong lessons from the pissy ignorance surrounding it.

Black ops 4 is the only cod since 2007 that I haven't played, and probably never will since it doesn't even have campaign. Looking forward to this one ofc.

Good one to skip, tbh. I somehow managed to get it half off less than two months after release, and I regret it greatly. It's one of the more content deficient Call of Duty titles when it comes to the multiplayer. Feels like Black Ops III but less so (except for annoying specialist abilities. Very much more so in that regard).

Anyone who has played Black Ops 4 in the past month knows how much money you need to dump into bullshit systems just for a minor change at a half decent skin knows how much Activision are going to milk Modern Warfare 4. It's going to be BO4 monetisation but with characters that hold a ton of nostalgia.

I just find it impossible to get hyped. This is going to be one hell of a messy game.

Not necessarily. Treyarch games have historically had the worst monetization/post-launch support models. Both Infinite Warfare and WWII were much fairer than Black Ops III. Either the studios themselves have a lot of autonomy in that regard and the people in charge at Treyarch are just really shitty about it, or Activision thinks they can get away with more because Black Ops has become the flagship subseries of the franchise.

I honesty don't know where else you can take the series. I assume China, but idk. MW2 and MW3 did American invasion. Black Ops 2 did near future with drones, 3 did sci fi near/far future with augments. AW did realistic near future. IW did Space Wars. 4 did Iraq. Bo did Vietnam. WW2 did WW2. What now?

Edit: Oh and Ghosts did fish. I legit forgot Ghosts.

Ditto :( here's hoping Infinity Ward's COD for 2019 Oct / Nov release has a kick ass single player campaign and an awesome boots on the ground multiplayer. Hopefully the game isn't set in World War period or future, present day/modern era please!

Not gonna happen but personally my wish is MW4 being pre-Call of Duty 4's time period(2011) MW2 being 2016 id take anything from
1996(Price Chernobyl flashback) to 2016(MW2).

That seems like a narrow window but aesthetically you get a lot of difference in that time

If those rumors are true and MW2 is just single player only I'm gonna feel so many mixed emotions. I want and need that MP back in my life. I haven't had fun with a COD since MW3.

Is it time again for the yearly CoD cycle?

1. I will never buy a CoD game again, always rinse and repeat every year.
2. (First reveal) Mweh looks the same.
2. (New trailer) This actually looks fun, did they change some mechanics?
3. Maybe i will try this one.
4. Nope i will not buy this, again with the micro-transactions and i don't like some of the changes they made to MP.
5. One day before release (shall i buy this, i want a fun arcade fps to play).
6. Buys the game.
7. Play it for one week and never play it again.

I didn't buy Black Ops 3 until like 6 months after release. I take pride in that.

There have been leaks of varying validity. I'm not a 'leaker' myself either but these are the supposed things to take with all the grains of salt.

  1. It is 'MW4' but it might not be called 'MW4' - it could be Modern Warfare 4, Modern Warf4re 4 or a different wacky subtitle alongside the Call of Duty name but still Modern Warfare 4.
  2. At the time of when this information surfaced (2017/2018) - MW2's Campaign was remastered but the MP was not and was ready to release in April 2018 without the MP.
  3. There are no Zombies but there is a Co-op Mode.
  4. There will be a change to the Sales Strategy, involving the Season Pass / Stores.
  5. Graphical Improvements over Infinite Warfare, a GTX 1060 will no longer be recommended on PC (more powerful card needed).
  6. Night-Vision is being brought back for both the Campaign and MP and the way to aim after wearing Night-Vision will change.
  7. It could be released in October again (like Black Ops 4) but there are conflicting reports on this.
  8. One leak suggests we will see more at E3 this year and there won't be a standalone Modern Warfare event like Destiny 2 and Black Ops 4 have had. PlayStation aren't at E3 (the current Marketing deal owners) and therefore a livestream or event could be held during E3 by Activision.

I am stupidly excited for whatever that Campaign is, this current Infinity Ward team are absolutely interstellar. ❤

Can't wait! COD is always fun for a few months.

I dropped BO4 earlier this time because Treyarch was focusing too much on Blackout and I'm more traditional MP guy. But I'm not buying the season pass again. I could't find games (objective-based) in the new maps, which was not a problem in previous games. Also, releasing 2 new maps instead of 4 at once was a let down.

We're only 6 months away from when it will probably launch so expect a reveal in the next 4 weeks.

MW4 with infinite warfare quality campaign, spec ops mode like MW2/3, traditional multiplayer like MW2, and a BR map made from MW1/2/3.

If it has all this I'll buy a cod again.

BONUS: Comes with MW2 remastered including the online.

Personally they'd be better off saving this for the 2020 COD that probably won't sell as well so it would be a nice sales booster.

It is short of weird to be fan of cod on here or main hubs for gaming media, even if I feel cod "hate" is pretty hypocritical with regards to innovation compared to other games. I have played cod multiplayer for over a decade now, I would like to broaden my multiplayer horizons but cod just delivers to me the best mechanics. I have tried many multiplayer games, like BF, Fortnite, Apex or UC4 multi, but they are a far cry to enjoyment I get from cod even though after decade you sure would think there would be "fatigue". Cod is the only game I play quite regularly unless I am playing some new game which takes for awhile.

I was pretty pumped for BO4 after being away from COD for some time. The boots on the ground gameplay plus Treyarch's awesome map design had me really excited. Unfortunately, I ended up putting very little time into the game with no desire to go back. It just didn't feel like COD. Maybe it's all the class nonsense (which i honestly have no interest in) but it didn't hook me like I expected.

Normally I wouldn't care for the next COD being that Infinity Ward was basically killed... But with a lot of returning members back I'm once again interested in seeing what they come up with. My assumption is it will also be a boots on the ground experience with no classes and potentially a more familiar multiplayer all around. Fingers crossed!

That'd be the holy trinity for me. The campaign will be quality, there's no doubt about it. But the last 2 are unknowns. I really hope spec ops comes back with either 3-4 player co op. It baffles me that it was never built upon in future CoDs.
Give me a BR map but it's just Favela x10000
Thanks, was trying to remember the name of that map. Loved it.

We finally have an e3 without cod

We know from the Investors Meeting that the next game (this year) will not have a BR mode.

It will have some form of large MP mode but not BR.
