Ibis Island
Probably the most underappreciated Capcom published title from the 360 & PS3 Library. Developed by Cyberconnect2, it came out Feb 21, 2012 and fell through the cracks as bigger titles released throughout the year (Some being Capcom's own titles releasing around the same time). The game is an interactive anime, where a lot of the gameplay is played out through either full-on boss fights, levels, or QTE cutscenes (I know the disdain for QTE's but they're not bad here).

latest

The real star of it all is the story and characters however. If you're a fan of over the top anime (Or just over the top things in general), Asura's Wrath delivers in spades and will continually defy expectations of what you think will happen next. I'd equate it similarly to Jojo and it's absolutely crazy antics, so if you're a fan of that you'll likely be a fan of this too. Despite the titles small community, there's a reason why you'll see the name Asura pop up whenever a Vs. game is announced, since much like God Hand it's a unique that shouldn't be missed for any fans of the action genre.

The only caveat to the sale price is that you need an additional DLC to get the true ending. So the price for the entire story is actually $12 Dollars, but it's well worth the price (Especially when Physical Copies sans DLC run for that much if not more).

Since DLC is always brought up
- Episode Pack: Part IV is the only one that is NEEDED (As it's effectively the true ending to the game).

- You can skip Episode 11.5 and 15.5, they're just animated cut-scenes you can now watch on youtube.

- Lost Episode 1 and 2 are the Ryu & Akuma Bonus fights. They're neat, but don't offer much.

Without a working 360, XBOX one BC has been a godsend for me to go back and play games I missed last gen. I've been meaning to play this for far too long.

I hope it gets enhanced to 4k by the BC team after they finish Scarlet compatibility.

And episode pack iv is still not on sale. Not sure I'll ever buy it despite beating the base game since it's never on sale. Not hat $7 is much, but cmon man the game is on sale, discount the DLC too.

Asura's Warth is like cyber xianxia (super high Chinese fantasy) under testosterone. I'm still hoping for a pc port one day...

I watched a full playthrough in its time (dlc included) and it was awesome, basically Naruto with different mythos and characters.

The climax to this game is amazing. I honestly would love to see an anime adaptation of the story. However, the last boss fight is kinda designed with the idea that you are playing a video game. This whole game is totally worth checking out. Especially if you like just bonkers anime stories (Sorta like the heights that Gurren Laggen hits.)

I made a LTTP thread on the old forum. The story goes completely off the rails but the music in this game is crazy good. It's a super epic and sweeping score. I remember quite a few songs. Namely, the wolf's song since it had Ennio Moriconne influences.

I never played through episode IV despite getting it on sale that rare time the DLC was on sale. But I saw my brother finish it. Imagine if The Hulk was a Buddhist god with 8 arms voiced by Liam O'Brien, crank it times 100 and you get Asura's Wrath. Buy this game people. It's a fun drunk game.

Costs more for the true ending than the actual game lmao, which is a shame because it's really amazing.

Heard a lot about it. Will definitely buy it.
I read that the dlc contains the true ending, is that on sale too?

Off topic but I find this trailer for a cancelled "xianxian" Chinese anime movie really "Asura like" (no suprise as Asura is under Chinese high fantasy influences. The creative loops. Just look at the first YT comment...)
I advise to up the volume as the music, like the rest, is über epic.

It's a great game about a father's love for his daughter and the lengths he's willing to go to just for her.

It's a shame the true ending is locked behind DLC, but it's so good. So, so good.

I've owned a physical copy of this for years and never played it, though I did play the demo and enjoyed that. I should really get around to it one day.

Or you can watch all the insane cutscenes/bossfights on youtube for free and save not only money but also time playing something more entertaining gameplay wise.

Fully agreed people should watch those cutscenes and bossfights though.

I've had this game forever, but every time i think about playing it, i'm reminded that the DLC is missing. And it never goes on sale. Ever.

Wanted to bump this for the historical low price the game is currently on sale for. You can get the Base Game and Ending DLC for under $6 which is a must-buy

Why is the DLC a must? I already own the base game.
You get the true ending. It's major part of the story. I bought the DLC when I bought the game years ago and thought I played everything. I replayed it earlier this year and realized there was so much more to the story I didn't see the first time I played.

The Chapter IV DLC is the True Ending of the game.

It's literally the ending of the game added in as DLC

Alright, buying. Haven't started the base so wasn't aware.

I just remembered I did an LTTP on this game a couple of years ago, if anyone needs extra convincing:
So, how many games have you played where your character gets so angry that his angry-ness blastwave alone reaches from the surface of the planet into low Earth orbit and destroys half a fleet of attacking space dreadnaughts? How many games have you played where you hammer a QTE to resist the laser blast of a planet-sized entity powered by 7,000,000,000,000 human souls harvested over a period of 12,000 years and then amplified even further for good measure? How many games have you ever played where you square up for a fistfight against LITERALLY GOD, and just when you think you might actually be able to punch him hard enough to win he pulls out a set of ELECTRIC NUNCHUCKS? And then it turns out that he wasn't even the final boss! HE WASN'T EVEN THE SECOND-TO-LAST BOSS!
I didn't know it had been added to XB1's backwards compatibility yet! You should buy this game, people.

I bought the game and episode IV DLC. I remember liking the look of it back in the day but just never got around to it for whatever reason. Played the first episode and it's bonkers! Looking forward to more :)

Finally finished it the other day after 7 years.

It's amazing hits how angry Asura is, he literally never stops. Even when you think he's about to calm down, out comes the rage. It's amazing

The title has wrath in it and I still feel this is underselling the game

The only game where I see a man being utterly consumed by rage and feeling absolutely sad and emotional over it. What happens at the midway point was so sad
