The current second season of NBC's series Midnight, Texas will be its last. The network has opted not to order a third season of the supernatural drama based on the books by author Charlaine Harris, which producing studio Universal Television is shopping to other outlets. NBC also will not be picking more episodes of multi-camera comedy Marlon, starring Marlon Wayans, which ran for two seasons in summer 2017 and summer 2018.
ABC has given a formal pilot order to New York Undercover, a contemporary reboot of Dick Wolf's 1990s series, from Wolf and Hand of God creator Ben Watkins. Anthony Hemingway (Underground, American Crime Story) has come on board to direct the pilot, produced by Wolf Films, Universal TV, where the company is based, and ABC Studios.
New York Undercover, which had a pilot production commitment, joins another ABC pilot that reboots a 1990s New York cop drama in present day, NYPD Blue. Also like NYPD Blue, which is bringing back original cast members Kim Delaney and Bill Brochtrup, the new New York Undercover too is expected to feature cast members from the original series reprising their roles.
sure.Written by Watkins based on a story by Wolf and him, New York Undercover picks up 20 years after the end of the original series that changed the face of TV cop dramas. It will follow detectives Nat Gilmore and Melissa Ortiz as they investigate the city's most dangerous criminals from Harlem to Battery Park. Some cast members from the original series are expected to reprise their roles.
We have not seen the last of the Tanner-Fuller family. A little over a month after the release of Fuller House's fourth season, the multi-camera comedy has been renewed for a fifth, which will be the Full House spinoff's last.
no.Ahead of Burke's debut TCA session as President of ABC Entertainment, the Disney-owned broadcaster played a clip of some of its biggest hits. The clip opened with a spot from the third season finale where Matthew Fox's Jack told Evangeline Lilly's Kate that they needed to go back to the island – one of the show's most memorable moments.
When asked by Deadline whether we should read anything into the choice of this clip, she joked, "you should".
She added, "I would like that very much; that's a reboot I would be interested in seeing."
Stop dicking around and give Lesli her long overdue Emmy.Netflix has given an eight-episode order to Pieces of Her, a series based on the 2018 book by best-selling crime author Karin Slaughter, from an all-female creative team of executive producers Lesli Linka Glatter (Homeland, Madmen), Charlotte Stoudt (Homeland, House of Cards) and Bruna Papandrea (Big Little Lies).
Written by Stoudt, who serves as showrunner, in Pieces of Her, when a Saturday afternoon trip to the mall with her mother suddenly explodes into violence, an adrift young woman's conception of her mother is forever changed. As figures from her mother's past start to resurface, she is forced to go on the run, and on that journey, she begins to piece together the truth of her mother's previous identity and uncovers secrets of her childhood.
ABC has opted not to proceed with a pilot order to its Marvel drama from Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg. The project, about female characters with superpowers, had a big pilot production commitment.
It is unclear whether the untitled hourlong drama from Heinberg, Marvel Television and ABC Studios, will be redeveloped.
In typical Marvel fashion, details about the drama were kept close to the vest, but it is believed to be based on lesser-known Marvel characters. There have been a number of fairly obscure female superhero team-ups that have appeared sporadically in Marvel comics over the years, including A-Force, Lady Liberators and Fearless Defenders.
It's official — ABC's flagship comedy series Modern Family will wrap its run after one more season. The Emmy-winning family comedy has been picked up for an eleventh and final season, the network announced at TCA. I hear it will consist of at least 18 episodes and could expand to 22 episodes.
Not surprising, and considering it has been downhill steadily since Daredevil season1 I'm not exactly gonna miss this mini-universe thing.Exactly a month after the launch of its second season on Netflix, Marvel's The Punisher has had to bite the bullet as has Jessica Jones.
As the only two series from the TV arm of the comic giant still left on the streamer, there will be no Season 3 of the Jon Bernthal led vigilante series, I've learned. The completed third season of the Krysten Ritter starring Jessica Jones will still appear on the streamer but will be put on ice for good after that.
This marks the end of the multi-series, big bucks and big ambitions relationship between Marvel and Netflix that started in 2013 with the announcement of four series and a The Defenders limited series.
Syfy has opted not to renew Nightflyers for a second season. A rep for the network confirmed to Deadline that Syfy would not be picking up additional episodes of the high-profile space horror drama based on the novella by George R.R. Martin.
Nighflyers [seriously Deadline, get some editors dammit], which went straight-to-series after Netflix came on board as co-producer/international distributor alongside UCP, had a multi-platform rollout in December, with all 10 episodes debuting across all Syfy platforms timed to the beginning of the linear telecast.
The series' linear ratings were pretty modest despite stunts that included telecasts with limited commercial interruption across all platforms and weekend marathons giving fans an additional opportunity to catch up on the series.
Schitt's Creek will be coming to an end after one more final season. The comedy's co-creators Daniel Levy and Eugene Levy just made the announcement on social media. Pop in the US and CBC in Canada have renewed the show for a sixth season to air in 2020. The comedy's final chapter is currently in pre-production and begins shooting in a few weeks.
Baskets is coming to an end at FX.
The now Disney-owned basic cable network announced Wednesday that the current fourth season of Zach Galifianakis-led comedy Baskets would be its last. The Aug. 22 season four finale will now double as a series finale.
Also, did Bojack get cancelled? I haven't watched sad horse show in a while. Did it go to shit?
