Question: A while back you had a Blind Item about a original series regular exiting a show this season. Can we get any clues about that? Perhaps the exact network? Or have things changed about it? —Liz
Ausiello:
Three months after I hit publish on that particularly Blind Item the circumstances surrounding Spoiler's departure changed dramatically. Basically, Spoiler is now leaving next season. The catch? The show's going bye-bye with him.

Only thing I can think of is Blacklist.

I haven't watched it yet but why wasn't it great for you?
Almost all the jokes fell flat to me except for one or two. The outdoor audience laughter didn't help the episode. Some of the actors I recognize and I've seen them in other shows and pull off comedy well but their performance was lacking this episode. I don't know if I am being hard on them because the writing didn't start well or if the direction they were given was just no good.

The main positives for me are: I like some of the cast as actors in general, the set is really nice, and they did a decent job of setting up the premise and story (as expected of a pilot).

All of a sudden I just remembered what it makes me think of... This show is like an outdoor Sullivan & Son.

Hawaii 5-0 or Blacklist,

5-0 would be a hard show to continue without McGarrett,
O'Loughlin has talked about leaving "next season" for like 4 seasons now.
Scott Caan already gets off like 50% of the episodes.
Next season is Season 10

I can see it, new cast can't carry it while Chi McBride can only do so much by himself.

So it wasn't necessarily the main actor, it could be anyone who's a series regular? Lol this could have been pretty much anything. Blind items suck.

Does Arrow count as drama?

What was the big deal about the outdoor audience? Was it really any different than an indoor audience? Also, as far the show in general goes, maybe it was just pilot jitters. Again, I haven't seen it yet, but typically the first episode in a show (especially sitcoms/comedies) aren't the best.

Also, here are Thursday night's ratings. Abby's yikes'ed the premiere. At least it attracted more total viewers than A.P. Bio. Lol:

Sorry, I only specified outdoor audience because I remember them explicitly saying it was an outdoor audience. I didn't mean for it to sound like they were any different/worse than a regular audience. I don't think the show really needs a live audience and laughter cutting into the episode. It definitely could be first episode jitters because its not like these guys are bad actors. The writing could find its footing later. I just didn't like most of the comedy/delivery that they had so far. I really like 3 of the cast members so I kind of want to give it more of a chance at least for them.

EDIT: Did anyone else watch it and feel similarly to me? Or maybe I'm just being too harsh about the show

Ah gotcha. Okay. Also, sorry if my question about the audience came off as harsh. I read about the show having an outdoor audience too and was like "so what?" I also re-read my post and saw that I may have questioned it aggressively but didn't intend to.

Its okay. No worries, I understand. :) Its good that you mentioned it cause I didn't even really think about the fact that I was specifying a detail about the audience and how it isn't even necessary because the audience functions the same. Aside from the audience, as I mentioned before, the set is nice. I like the way it is set up, its appearance, and that it is outdoors.

...

Also, I miss Brooklyn Nine-Nine

Out of curiosity, was watching Abby's like watching a stage play in the park? I only ask because the big difference would be the wind. Lol.

Also, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is still on the air. It even got renewed for a seventh season.

I sure hope NBC's comedy lineup is doing better on Hulu cuz yikes @ those numbers. Maybe FOX was right to abandon their millennial-skewing comedies and lander to boomers instead.

To its credit, it didn't feel like that at all. I didn't even consider that until you mentioned it but the episode was completely fine in that regard. Wish we had some idea of how they took handle that.

Nice! I remember the renewal news but after its absence this week I thought B99 as either on a mid-season break or that there was a season finale I missed. Good to know its not done airing.

When I first read this I immediately thought of Amell and Arrow. But after double-checking when Amell signed for season 8, it happened in Sept. 2018, which was before Ausiello's Blind Item article (October).

I don't think it is Blacklist. As it's already been renewed, it probably would have been announced at the time that next season would have been the final one.

My guess is Hawaii Five-0. Where O'Loughlin has been saying for awhile he wants to end it, there was another question in "Ask Auisello" dealing with 5-0 in regards to Scott Caan:

Question: I'd love to know if you have something on Scott Caan/Danny Williams' future on Hawaii Five-0. The fans are coming up with a lot of theories about him leaving (he filmed less episodes than usual, and Danny's reconciliation with Rachel makes them fear the couple will move back to Jersey). I'd love to know if I have to start to panic too! —Lisa
Ausiello: I had TVLine's honorary Five-0 team member,Matt Mitovich, delve into this, and here's what he brought back from series boss Peter M. Lenkov: "In our last two episodes of the season, we are going to see that Danny has been hiding the progression of his and Rachel's tenuous relationship from McGarrett. Scott and Claire [van Der Boom] have such a terrific chemistry, it would be criminal not to explore what happens next with them."

Lenkov didn't answer directly, but with the subtle response of "Danny needing to explore his relationship more with Rachel" could very well lead to Lisa's fear.

The student has surpassed the master.

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/l...enewed-record-setting-21st-season-nbc-1198112

Law & Order: SVU will make TV history in 2019-20.

NBC has renewed the drama for a record-setting 21st season, making the show the longest-running live-action primetime series in American TV history. The series will surpass the record of 20 seasons currently held by its parent show, Law & Order (1990-2010) and CBS' Gunsmoke(1955-75). (The Simpsons remains the all-time leader for any primetime show in both seasons at 30, with two more to come, and episodes, currently at 657.)

Star and executive producer Mariska Hargitay will also extend her run as Lt. Olivia Benson, the longest-running female character in a live-action primetime series. Hargitay has earned eight Emmy nominations for her role, winning the award for drama lead actress in 2006.

Depends how long Ellen Pompeo wants to keep doing Grey's Anatomy. She's already signed on for S16 so it's completely possible it may go long enough to get there also.

Too bad Supernatural is ending next year, would have liked to see Padalecki and Ackles try for it as well.

I fully expect Grey's to continue on for a very long time. In a way it's very interesting in that we can see an ER doctor's entire career at this point. I kinda like that.

Yes. And I thought of it as well. But wouldn't be announce it then?

I think this is more just a case of it being so blatantly on the nose that he didn't feel a need to point out he was right. Amell explained the situation as being almost exactly what Ausiello reported - he gave them notice well in advance so that he could keep the rest of the cast/crew employed even after he left, then TPTB decided to just end the show rather than carrying it on without him and it kind of shocked him.

But as I indicated above, the announcement of Amell's contract extension for season 8 was in September of 2018. Ausiello's Blind Item article was in October, so unless Amell changed his mind right after resigning another season contract, the Blind Item article is not Amell. I am still leaning towards Caan of H5-0.

And as for ending the show with Amell leaving, I think that was the right call. Amell is a good person and didn't want people to lose jobs, but shows almost never do well when the main character is replaced 'and the show goes in a different direction'. And I don't think it would have done well with Arrow.

I think the idea was that he always signed on with the intent of S8 being his last year. And he probably THOUGHT the show would still get a full season without him. But then when Crisis wound up being the crossover they ended up just deciding to end it in the middle of the season instead of at the end of the season. Amell's video made it seem like he was kind of stunned by the fact the show was ending earlier than he expected it to.

I still don't know how to feel about that. Ackles look relieved and Padalecki looked crushed in that announcement video. I mean I don't blame Jensen. You got a family at home it's about time to spend more time with them. Move the hell out of Vancouver or wherever CW shows tape and go somewhere warm.

EPIX has cancelled Berlin Station after 3 seasons.
As the only person who watched this:

Fuck. What will I now fill out my life with? Socialising? Self improvement? Watch something that's genuinely good and not just watch it because spies? Fuck that noise. And to the person who cancelled this thoroughly middling show:

Im really curious about the last episode of Grey's Anatomy, dropped it around S10 or 11
but all the previews for the last episode despite looking mundane all had extreme content warnings attached which i've never seen in commercials before .

My god, Grey's Anatomy adjusted up. It's unstoppable at this point.
Grey's Anatomy is the TV equivalent of comfort food for me. It's nice to know that I have those characters to look forward every week and the show never had a sharp drop on quality, I actually think the current season is quite good.
It also makes me happy that Ellen Pompeo is now the highest paid actress on TV.
She was underpaid for so long when she was the core of the show since the beginning (although Karev and Amilia are my favourite characters).

Theme of the episode was sexual assault and rape. Patient-of-the-week was a rape victim and one of the main characters found out she was a product of rape.
