relatedly, something I only recently became aware of: you won't find any of the Harry Potter films on HBO Max, because NBCU has the TV rights to the entire franchise through 2025. Sure, some of Disney's content is tied up too - you won't find Black Panther, Infinity War, or Incredibles 2 on Disney+ at launch, because of their Netflix deal, but my understanding is that most or all of those deals will expire fairly early in Disney+'s lifespan.

Pretty sure the HP films were being aired on FX and Sci-Fi...

Yeesh. You know things are bad when Pandora is getting 0.1 ratings at the premiere and critics are saying "at least it's not the Outpost."

Aaaaand it's dragging down The 100 too.

If TV studios/networks aren't gonna put any effort into making new and original work and just splash paint on old works, I'm gonna do the same with my titles.

'The Man In The High Castle' Creator Frank Spotnitz Developing Epic Fantasy TV Series Based On Games Workshop's 'Warhammer 40,000' Universe
The Man In The High Castle creator Frank Spotnitz is developing a TV series based on Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 universe.

It marks the first big-budget live-action TV series based on the wargame empire's hugely popular board games, miniatures and novels.

Spotnitz's Big Light Productions is developing Eisenhorn, a sci-fi and fantasy series set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, where mankind teeters on the brink of annihilation.
There is no broadcaster or platform attached at the moment but the partners will be taking it out to market soon.

Showtime has given a series commitment to an untitled musical drama executive produced by multiple Grammy winner Alicia Keys and the Oscar, Tony and Grammy winning team of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen, The Greatest Showman). Pasek and Paul also will contribute music to the series, produced by Fox 21 Television Studios (Homeland, The Chi). Kyle Jarrow (SpongeBob SquarePants musical) will write the series and executive produce with Oscar-nominated producer Marc Platt (Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, The Band's Visit, La La Land), Emmy winner R.J. Cutler (Nashville, American High), and Emmy winner Adam Siegel (Grease: Live!)

The as-yet untitled series traverses generations to tell an emotionally complex family story that interweaves modern-day and 1959 Detroit, centering on a mystery uncovered by a young musician who moves back to her childhood home.

So much TV news this week.

She's Gotta Have It cancelled after 2 seasons by Netflix. As usual with literally every cancelled show, the studio will shop it elsewhere.

To think it could have been Trial & Error.

Meanwhile on grown-ish:
It was inevitable that Nomi would break up with her teacher, but it's for the best.

Thank God. That storyline was just creepy.

Ed Brubaker Inks Overall Deal With Legendary TV
Under the pact, the comic book and TV writer will adapt some of his beloved titles and develop originals for the studio.
Legendary Television has signed another top comic creator to an overall deal.

Ed Brubaker, who created the Winter Soldier arc of Captain America that has become integral to Marvel's feature films, has signed an overall deal with the indie studio.

Under the pact, Brubaker will adapt and collaborate with other TV creators to bring some of his most iconic creator-owned properties to television.

The deal marks the latest TV gig for Brubaker, who served as a supervising producer on HBO's Westworld and worked with Nicolas Winding Refn on Amazon's upcoming Too Old to Die Young series. He is best known for his comic crime sagas like Criminal, Incognito, Fatale, The Fade Out and Kill or Be Killed, which have sold millions of copies internationally. Brubaker has earned Eisner and Harvey Awards for best writer an impressive five times. While working for DC Comics, he revamped Catwoman.

I want Life in Pieces to get renewed.

40k show by the showrunner of Man in the High Castle is some good sounding shit, though!
