The TV Gods were good to me when I slept:

Sarah Michelle Gellar To Star In 'Sometimes I Lie' Limited Series From Ellen DeGeneres & Warner Bros TV

CBS Orders 'Evil' Supernatural Drama Pilot From Robert & Michelle King

Just put it on CBSAA, we know how well the Kings' supernatural stories do on CBS proper (RIP BrainDead).
Is Ellen so far the 2nd most successful tv show host turned producer we've had, hasnt felt anything she's attached to has failed (unless Im missing something).

CBS shows seems interesting, hope theyu changed things up and the blue collar contractor is female. Cast the star from secret & lies as the psychologist please.

Schooled, the new Goldberg's spin-off about Lainey, Coach Mellor, and the school in the 90s was fun, but weird.

It'll be interesting to see if it can find it's own voice.

I was surprised a few weeks ago when it was shown that it will star Lainey. I guess that backdoor pilot on The Goldbergs wasn't what they wanted. Unless maybe they didn't want to reveal anything about Lainey's character on The Goldbergs in relation to this show.

Wednesday night's ratings. ABC was really steady last night (well, up until 9:30pm ET). Looks like Schooled did very well. The Masked Singer continues to impress:

Al Pacino Poised To Make TV Series Starring Debut In 'The Hunt'
Al Pacino is nearing a deal to make his episodic television debut. He's committing to a 10-episode season of Amazon's The Hunt, a vengeance-driven Nazi hunting series executive produced by Oscar-winning Get Out writer-director Jordan Peele. The project, produced by Peele's Monkeypaw Productions and Sonar Entertainment, was created by David Weil (Moonfall), who will write and executive produce. Nikki Toscano executive produces and co-showruns with Weil.

Pacino will star with Logan Lerman, who was previously cast. Pacino's deal should be done this week and he'll become the latest movie star to line up for a series. He has played real people in the telepics Paterno about the Penn State head football coach, Phil Spector about the music producer convicted of murder, the Jack Kevorkian biopic You Don't Know Jack, and portraying Roy Cohn in Angels In America. He won Emmys for the latter two performances.

The Hunt follows a diverse band of Nazi Hunters living in 1977 New York City. The Hunters, as they're known, have discovered that hundreds of high ranking Nazi officials are living among us and conspiring to create a Fourth Reich in the U.S. The eclectic team of Hunters will set out on a bloody quest to bring the Nazis to justice and thwart their new genocidal plans.

Lerman plays Jonah Heidelbaum, who, when his grandmother is slain by a mysterious intruder in their apartment, sets out to track the culprit — only to find himself swept up in the mysterious organization known as The Hunt, a group of justice-seeking individuals dedicated to rooting out the Nazi murderers living in the U.S. under assumed identities. Pacino will play the Nazi hunter who mentors him.

Based on an original idea, drawing from real-life events, The Hunt originated as a hot drama series spec, which was taken out to the premium marketplace by Sonar Entertainment last fall, garnering interest from multiple buyers. The company had been in discussion with another network when Amazon recently stepped up and secured the project. It received a straight-to-series 10-episode order in May.

Yeah I'm hooked on The Masked Singer. Pretty sure I got 90% of the cast figured out which ruins some of the fun but it will be cool to see if I'm right!

Netflix Orders 'Shadow And Bone' Series Based On Leigh Bardugo's Grishaverse Novels
Netflix has greenlighted Shadow and Bone, an eight-episode series based on Leigh Bardugo's bestselling Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows Grishaverse fantasy novels, from Eric Heisserer, writer of Netflix's smash hit feature Bird Box, and Shawn Levy, executive producer of the Internet network's mega hit series Stranger Things. The project falls under the Netflix overall deal for Levy's 21 Laps. Bardugo also serves as an executive producer on the show, produced by Netflix.

Created, written and executive produced by Heisserer, who also will showrun, Shadow and Bone brings together the stories and characters of both Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows, two overlapping series that take place in Bardugo's Grishaverse. In a world cleaved in two by a massive barrier of perpetual darkness, where unnatural creatures feast on human flesh, a young soldier uncovers a power that might finally unite her country. But as she struggles to hone her power, dangerous forces plot against her. Thugs, thieves, assassins and saints are at war now, and it will take more than magic to survive.

It is funny watching Xena and see who turns up. I'm now watching For Him The Bell Tolls, and aside from Karl Urban it has Craig Parker (Glaber on Spartacus) and Craig Walsh (Solonius on Spartacus) as father/son.

remember this?
well someone listened to me:
1) Why not just make a show with multiple unreliable narrators? So many shows already have done a Rashōmon inspired episodes

NBC Orders Rashomon-Inspired 'Prism' & 'Bluff City Law' Legal Drama Pilots
Written by Daniel Barnz, who also directs, Prism is inspired by Rashomon, the 1950 Japanese period psychological thriller directed by Akira Kurosawa. Prism is described as a provocative exploration of a murder trial in which every episode is told through the perspective of a different key person involved. Each new version of the facts ratchets up the mystery and the suspense, calling into question everything we have seen so far and asking is the right person on trial? Driven by an ensemble of complicated characters, the show lets the audience ask if truth matters less than who can tell the most compelling story.
You could have just done this Amblin. And it would have been fine. But nooooooo.
Oh and I guess there was another show too in that piece of news:
Written by [Dean] Georgaris, Bluff City Law (wt) is a character-driven legal drama that follows the lawyers of an elite Memphis law firm that specializes in the most controversial landmark civil rights cases. Led by legendary lawyer Elijah Strait and his brilliant daughter, Sydney Keller, they take on the toughest David-and-Goliath cases while navigating their complicated relationship.

HBO Developing IVF Comedy 'Counterfeit' From Andrew Gettens, Lauren Mackenzie & Jessica Rhoades
HBO has put in development Counterfeit, a half-hour comedy from husband-and-wife writing duo Andrew Gettens and Lauren Mackenzie (Hit & Run) and Jessica Rhoades' (Sharp Objects) Pacesetter Productions, as part of Rhoades' first-look deal with the premium cable network.

Written by Gettens and Mackenzie, Counterfeit centers on a couple, desperate to have a child, who learn there's no way for them to conceive the old-fashioned way. And with no resources (and a loudly ticking biological clock) they start counterfeiting money to pay for IVF. Gettens & MacKenzie conceived of the idea for Counterfeit while going through their own struggles with IVF.

Deadwood
Lost
Veronica Mars
Grey's Anatomy
Friday Night Lights
Mad Men
Breaking Bad
The Good Wife

Didn't realize just using incognito could work (or thst I opened up so many articles already that I'm past my freebies...)

Atlanta and Adventure Time I question on the use of "drama". Other sites had Atlanta under comedy.

This is a damn good list:

New York Times: The 20 Best TV Dramas Since Sopranos

Bonus point for them recognising what the true classic of genre Television is and what isn't (even if it's in the "omissions" category).

Fantastic list, and definitely should be used as a primer for the past decade's TV - the shout-outs to Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies and Halt are especially satisfying to see.

My thoughts exactly.
Was this list written by my 70-year-old uncle
I get it. I'm not even going to try and defend the show, although I had less issues with it than others, but it was a formative series and changed the way a lot of people viewed television. I get the impression at least some of the list is more about how they were viewed at the time or changed television watching than there intrinsic value in this moment

Yeah, otherwise The West Wing shouldn't be on there. Post-Obama and with Trump in the White House, having someone write this:

People complain that it's a smug fantasy. But I love a fantasy where everyone is smart, no one wants a forever war and integrity exists. I love a fantasy where characters have such a strong sense of purpose it rubs off on you just from watching them. My fantasy is that people are trustworthy, and that when they let me down, they notice and they're sorry. Let's all fantasize about having ethics — wouldn't that be such a wild world? Keep your swords-and-magic epics. I've got the Bartlet administration to dream about.

is so anachronistic as to defy belief. I get that's why the series was loved during its initial run - Bush and 9/11 - but to praise a political drama for those reasons now is just odd, to put it mildly.

Yeah, although 24 would be missing in that case. Still, pretty good list overall.

Hope Brooklyn 99 still shows up on Hulu the next day like it used to, I think NBC shows usually do, right?

And I don't see anything wrong listing LOST on that drama list, especially a list 20 shows long.
I still love LOST and think of it as one of my favorite shows, even though I still hate the final season.

The shows that Louie influenced are a lot better than it and is not made by Louis CK so it being ignored is no biggie.

Louie is one of the most acclaimed shows of all time - critics r a v e d about it every season it was on the air. Atlanta may have eclipsed it in acclaim, but to pretend that Louie was some blip on the radar that can easily be tossed aside because it was never that good anyway is revisionism of the highest order.

It would be like throwing The Cosby Show aside like it wasn't a HUGE deal just because Bill Cosby turned out to be a piece of shit.

Nice to see Battlestar Galactica still making these lists. It will have been off the air for a decade as of this March.
