Fucking Bernie, not outlining a Health Care overhaul in two tweets.

By not educating his followers on the basic processes for how those bills become laws, because most voters sure won't be doing that. There's a lot more he can do here then two vague tweets which misinform his followers on how congress works. As usual, it'll be the capitalists who do the hard work to get his vision closer to reality but get none of the credit.

Maybe, but Bernie is simply pointing the way - not giving them a road map for how to implement it. Without the latter his populism fails.

I'm wondering if he's only in again to keep pushing the field left.

He seemingly hasn't concerned himself with the nitty gritty for a long, as long as he's been a Senator, time.

Obviously, instead of posting tweets speaking to the frustration people have with the healthcare system, he should have been spamming the legislative episode of schoolhouse rock

She unofficially started during the launch of her books and media tour for them, TBH.
It has all worked seamlessly and really well together then. She even got some international coverage last week as a top 3 contender.

Character and a compelling story could take Kamala Harris to the White House in 2020

A year before the first presidential contest in Iowa, Kamala Harris is already shaping the race for the Democratic nomination.

Two recent polls put Harris in third place behind Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders, those undeclared septuagenarians. We know polls are dubious a year out. But in a prospective field of 20 candidates, her early prominence matters.

She's well nestled between these two wings in the party. Another poll earlier this week had her in 2nd place in a few places.
There's talk of both Biden and Sanders pulling the party to the right or left. She's in a great position to pull the party together.

Reminds of that Dylan song I Shall Be Free

"Now a man on the stand, he wants my vote
He's a-runnin' for office on a ballot note
He's out there preachin' in front of the steeple
Tellin' me he loves all kinds of people

He's eatin' bagels
He's eatin' pizza
He's eatin' chitlins"

Progressive legislation is a group effort, and the ass kicker in that category is Warren, not Bernie. The capitalist. If you want her pro-capitalist legislation to pass congress or other capitalist politician to have a bigger say in shaping bills like that rather than something Bernie's socialist influence with the lawl, that's fine with me. It seems odd to not prioritise the biggest part of making the things you want happen in congress but with Bernie it's ok.

Socialist legislation won't go as further you want unless you have politicians willing to get their hands dirty in congress to get things done and Bernie's track record on this is not stellar. Do you want champions like him or like AOC, who is doing that with bills like the Green new Deal?

I'm wondering if he's only in again to keep pushing the field left.

He seemingly hasn't concerned himself with the nitty gritty for a long, as long as he's been a Senator, time.

Bernie did that last time, when he thought he had a chance that went out the window so he thought he could get his precious, despite the fact his campaign was dead by March.

Obviously, instead of posting tweets speaking to the frustration people have with the healthcare system, he should have been spamming the legislative episode of schoolhouse rock

Since when is Bernie a candidate who can't tweet about his frustration and educate his followers on civics? He can tweet as much as he likes, nobody's stopping him. What's wrong with having him educate his followers, so they know how the system works? Frustration may be good for his donations but it's going to do squat with giving his followers the correct expectations getting bills he wants passed congress. He's not there to simply become an echo chamber for his true believers, he's there to pass the laws they want to fix the system.

She's not a scumbag. She made an honest mistake that was born out of love and pride in her family's stories. That may be bad enough. But if she's going to be written off, then folks should understand exactly what it is that they're writing off.

Yeah, I really dislike how she's being treated right now. It's not at all clear that she was using this Native American heritage to further herself and in any event I certainly don't think that represents who she is today. I still think she's a damned fine candidate and similar to Bernie, her politics are at odds with a lot of main stream press who represent the status quo because she speaks to the heart of some of the biggest injustices of wealth inequality that plenty of people would rather not talk about.

Posted this in PoliERA earlier, but I've subsequently remembered this thread existed:

Miami Herald: Can anyone be president in 2020? This South Florida mayor may run and find out.

Never before has the line between long-shot and quixotic been so blurred. And Wayne Messam, the little-known mayor of Miramar, may decide to test the tipping point.

In a scenario that some political consultants have called "far-fetched" and "absurd," Messam — the mostly ceremonial mayor of a west Broward city of 140,000 and owner of a construction firm — has been pondering a run for president. The Miami Herald confirmed that he sought out meetings and advice during the recent U.S. Conference of Mayors in Washington after, an adviser says, he received encouragement from unnamed politicians, consultants and activists.

That he would even dip a toe in presidential waters has drawn guffaws and incredulity from some political consultants and operatives in Florida. One Democrat quipped that Messam, a 44-year-old former wide receiver for the champion 1993 Florida State Seminoles football team, "has a better chance of being a slot receiver for the Miami Dolphins than he does of being president."

"Look at Pete Buttigieg: He's in South Bend and in a state that's not going to make waves in the primary or the general … But look at the kind of coverage and demand that Pete is getting," said Phillip Thompson, a former Florida Democratic Party deputy director who served as Andrew Gillum's first campaign manager on his run for governor and counts Messam as a close friend. "That should tell you something about where the Democratic party base is."

Buttigieg, the mayor of a city of barely more than 100,000 people, received a full day of coverage from cable news networks and plenty of ink from news outlets when he announced that he was launching an exploratory committee this month. But he's also been building a national profile since 2017, when he ran for chairman of the Democratic National Committee. And his candidacy — he's an openly gay Afghan war veteran who'd be the first millennial president — makes for a compelling story.

Messam's supporters say his story also has a chance to resonate with Democratic voters. A self-made businessman who grew up in the tiny Lake Okeechobee town of South Bay as the son of a Jamaican sugar cane worker, Messam became Miramar's first black mayor. He is a husband, father, and the immediate past president of the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials, and presides over one of the country's fastest growing communities. Miramar, where Messam is a shoo-in to win reelection as mayor next month, is home to several major federal operations, including an FBI field office and an Immigration and Customs Enforcement office.

Are we going to end up having more Mayors running for the nomination than Governors? The only Governor I could potentially see running would be Inslee.

You joke, but people are this stupid. There's a reason the right wing media tried to blame the Democrats on everything despite the GOP controlling all three branches of government.

And let's face it, if Sanders wins and is unable to implement radical change 2 weeks into office, the idiotic left will cry that he's corporate shill or some other nonsense. They did with Obama, they'll do it again.

It's not concern trolling when all that I said was constructive criticism about Bernie and your reaction to my posts about his tweets. Instead, this makes it appear you don't care about Bernie educating his followers, which is quite an opinion. It is useless, alright, and it's sad to see anti-intellectualism being adopted by the left. You're just not interested in having a deeper conversation about Bernie's tactics or his flaws, you've failed to learn from the last national election why he lost. A pity, I thought you were smarter than that and actually wanted to make the change in politics you talk so much about but that's all it is. Talk.

No, it's concern trolling because you expect him to educate everyone on how bills are passed in a few tweets in response to two tweets about Medicare For All. Is he supposed to link to the wikipedia page or youtube video on how bills are passed every time he talks about it? Is he supposed to be managing expectations when he's not even declared yet let alone won the nomination? This is not constructive criticism at all, it's concern trolling and you do it with everything Bernie or AOC does under the guise of "educating" others. It's tiresome.

It's not a problem limited to Sanders, this can happen with any candidate unless no one really has any faith in them, which is another problem. Are any of the other potential and declared candidates educating people on how bills are passed? Is Klobuchar educating people on how her tax advantaged savings account is going to pass? Or Kamala's LIFT Act? Nope!

What's Kamala's legislative plan to abolish private insurance or her tax credit proposal? Somehow I don't remember these objections coming up then. It's almost as if they're being put forth in bad faith.

I'm not sure why it's so strange to run for the Senate too. It's kinda silly to risk everything to run for president.
In 1960 LBJ ran both for the Senate and as JFK's VP, he won both so someone else replaced him as senator.

He's gonna have a hard time overcoming his history with schools.

Stop calling it school choice and call it what it is, school privatization.

Jesus Christ why the fuck do some white people feel that they need to have blackface "explained" to them by a black person, like damn it's your own history and culture read up on it!!

Cory Booker has decided he wants to not scare white people. So he will do and say things that comfort them, like "it's okay if you were racist 30 years ago."
