Essentially, Hiroyuki, the current owner of the site, is splitting up 4chan into two different websites. Apparently, the worst parts of the sites are advertising poison, so he's splintering off those bits.
One website will be 4channel. This will have all SFW content, and be comprised of the best parts of the site.
4chan will be the NSFW site, and contain such hellholes as /pol/, /r9k/, and /b/.
This seems like the beginning of a civil war between users. I've already noticed many 4chan users shitting on people from /pol/ and trying to evict them from infecting the rest of the site (and, sadly, failing over the years.)
Thoughts? 4chan has been around for about 15 years now, and this may be a turning point in cleaning out the infection of neo-nazis. I've been browsing the site myself for about 12 years, and I do remember when the vast majority of the userbase was edgy and counterculture, but it certainly wasn't flooded with Republicans and Stormfront posters, and often they would take the opposite position to whatever the GOP did. Remember, it was never cool to be a Bush supporter, but it's 'cool' now and 'counter culture' for many to be a neo-nazi Trump supporter.
