Cover art is almost always designed to stand out on a shelf as opposed to actually looking good. It's incredible how many games/films with incredible art end up with truely terrible covers.

Honestly, tell me which version is better? Because I for the love of my life can not understand why they'd change it to whatever they're doing these days.

I picked up Rambo 4K this week. It's easily the least visually impressive of the four films, even though it's the newest. Hardly any HDR at all. The movie itself was pretty bad too. Worse than Rambo 3..

I have the original Best Buy steelbook for Big Hero 6 (which is very pretty), but that new one is gorgeous. Similarly, I already have a beautiful steelbook for Moana, but I love that movie so much I don't know if I can resist buying another. That Tangled one is definitely coming home with me though.

If anyone here has been hoarding Disney Movie Rewards points, there's a big sale right now with stuff being up to 70% off. It ends on the 9th, and then there will be a period between the 10th and 25th where you won't be able to redeem anything while they rework the program into the new Disney Movie Insiders program.

I just ordered Bambi Signature Edition, The Good Dinosaur Ultimate Collector's Edition, and Finding Dory Ultimate Collector's Edition.

Still got enough points left for another order or two. Thinking of ordering Lilo & Stitch 2-Movie Collection, but I don't like it being in a DVD case (it includes DVD + Blu-ray). Others I'm considering are Cinderella Diamond Edition, Jungle Book Diamond Edition, Tinker Bell, and the Tangled: The Series DVDs. Hmm...also kinda want that Tinker Bell "Tink Memento Box," though that's not really relevent to this thread, I just like it. Hah.

Awesome! Glad to have helped.

Managed to get a bunch more points from my family, and ordered Cinderella Diamond Edition and Jungle Book Diamond Edition. Still got a lot of points in my account, and a bunch more codes left to activate. But there's a 10 code a day limit, so I gotta wait a few more hours to activate the rest. Might order the three Cars movies later to help complete my Pixar collection.

Edit: Some of the codes didn't work. But I did manage to order the Cars trilogy.

What's everyone's preferred way of playing 4k videos? I just got a Samsung QLED and at the moment I'm limited to the apps on the tv. Vudu and YouTube seem nice and sharp. However the AppleTV, Fandango Now and Google Play don't seem as sharp and detailed and sometimes seem splotchy.

Picked up the Target exclusive version of Aladdin (1992) 4K, along with the standard 4K releases of Finding Nemo and Ratatouille.

I'll wait for the entire boxset, I bought the 50th anniversary set for €120, figure with some time the 4k ones will also lower in price nicely. I need From Russia, OHMSS, License to Kill, and Goldeneye in all of their glory. Especially Goldeneye which had a real funky blu-ray unlike any other of the films on the format.

Found a family video store and have been renting some 4k blurays. Avengers End Game looked fantastic, hulk especially looks excellent. I wish the final battle was longer. it felt like a montage then an actual setpiece, but it all looked very good.

Godzilla is a gorgeous movie from start to finish. not sure why it got bad reviews and a meh reception. it had a lot of action unlike the first movie. loved the cinematography. must watch just for the 4k hdr visuals imo.

Aladdin was kinda lame. lots of singing and not enough action. there were some cool hdr scenes and the movie is VERY colorful overall which is always a good showpiece for HDR, but i dont think the movie is fun enough to recommend. and i say this as a big Guy Ritchie fan. would recommend king arthur over this.

Mmmm... look at these things.

I love that the French are such nice people and include English subtitles on most of their domestic releases of restored classics, something the Germans should learn. "Das Weib des Pharao" is a rare exception.

Never heard of these, but these look really interesting, doesn't seem to be available through MediaMarkt or Amazon Germany though?

Picked up the 4k steel of Casino at BB earlier. It's actually $2 cheaper than the regular release so sub-$20 total with tax. Cant wait to watch. Always thought this was Scorsese's best looking movie.

Watched the Avengers: Endgame UHD yesterday.

Quite nice image quality despite being a 2k upscale. Also good effects and overall look. The effects could use some more pop though.
The movie itself was good and entertaining. But some characters felt heavily underused. Some decisions, especially in the final battle, were dumb and just there for the drama.
Infinity War was a lot better in my opinion.

I've been working my way through the MOC line from Eureka. Have about 20 of them, but unfortunately some are oop, which makes those pretty expensive now. They had Cleopatra, but for whatever reason not anymore and on eBay it fetches quite a few pounds :(

how does the 4K/HDR picture quality of Casino compare to other catalog titles like Blade Runner: Final Cut, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Apocalypse Now: Final Cut?

I had waited for the 4K Batman 4 movie steelbook set. Given my luck and reviews concerning people hunting all over for a set that wasn't mangled. Feels bad but canceled.

PQ is a bit on the soft side but that's inherent to the cinematography. It's a great release. Colors are absolutely stunning. The opening credits alone are eye candy.

Rewatching Angels & Demons and I'm unsure why they didn't include the extended cut on 4k, it's only a eight minutes difference only with the theatrical cut. So odd that they chose not to include those few minutes. I get it for The Davinci Code, that's almost half en hour longer, but this one? Such a shame, such good 4k remasters.

Bought 20 VHS tapes at Goodwill, 'cause why the hell not? NO REGRETS!!!

Also got a copy of Talladega Nights that appears to be from a PlayStation 3 bundle, and a Panasonic 3D Blu-ray demo disc there.

Haha, I got that Talladega Nights disc last year when I bought a launch model PS3. Too bad that a demo disc that is supposed to demonstrate the strengths of the format is a low bitrate MPEG2 encode with lossy Dolby Digital audio. I know the first year of Blu-ray Disc format was very messy, but there was a retail version with AVC/DTS-HD Master Audio available at the same time.

Finally got all of the free movies I ordered from Disney Movie Rewards. They've been coming in slowly for the past week or so.

Oh...dang. Strange. Still want to test it out, though. Only way I can right now is with PlayStation VR. Heh.

B&R 4k does look good I'll give it that.

Forgot that Shining 4k is coming out next week. Just preordered the steel at BB. Hopefully it ships by Wednesday and I'll have it this weekend.

But two, get one free on all movies at Target this week. The Signature Edition Blu-rays of 101 Dalmatians and Sleeping Beauty are out tomorrow as well, and with this deal, I'll have to see if I can get both...not sure what the extra movie would be.

Tempted to get Up on Blu-ray as the free movie, but there are rumors of a 4K edition in November. Up is the only Pixar movie I don't own in any form (I did watch it years ago, and it's great). I also want to upgrade A Bug's Life and Monsters, Inc., which I only have on DVD (and also now VHS in the former's case). My DVD of A Bug's Life is non-anamorphic (it was Pixar's first DVD release), and it looks awful. Monsters, Inc. looks better, but it's still a blurry old DVD.

New releases are excluded from the sale.
