Yup. This was a really strong year. Marriage story was the best to me, but I'm not upset because it was such a stacked year.

It was a worthy one, and given it's probably the final notable performance of his life it would have been nice, but it was Brad's year.
He's old and wasn't going to win any of them. He was retired since 2000, only occasionally doing little things if he wanted to, this was his first major role in twenty years, he's living his private life now.

I think the best non Disney animated movie I've seen in the last few years aside from Spider-Verse was Kubo and the Two Strings, and that didn't win.
A waste as this year actually was a race, several different films won across the Globes, Annies, BAFTAs, etc and they nominated the top films. But they just went with the safe choice.
I agree it was robbed that year, but there is a bit of a shift in the academy if this year's awards are anything to go by.
Parasite has no chance. There has never been a foreign film that has won best picture and Parasite won't be the first.
Same here. No doubt a good movie but can't understand how so many people and awards rate it as amazing.

Yeah, I thoroughly enjoyed it but it's a little overrated as the best movie of the year.
I can't say I agree with that, I've seen 8/9 of the nominees and other movies like Lighthouse and Uncut Gems and although they were really good I gotta say I think the nominations were the right choices. Knives Out deserved a nomination I think though.
