You pick a Traveler and start his/her story but you can switch them in a Tavern.

Basically you can complete all 8 journeys in a single file it seems.

Ehh we don't know if that map and actual game map is correctly scaled together. Because if it is it isn't that big.

Not sure if you can get them in any order you want, but they've confirmed you get everyone in your party and can experience all of the story elements for each character in a single play through.
