First post! Been a member on the old forum since 2004. After all that happened i was really scared there would be no replacement.

But ResetEra really has exceeded my expectations, really amazing work everybody!

Do you guys feel that in the future members would get a quick activation? Cause I remember that the other place it could take up to 6 months... no idea why, "lazyness?" They waited to get some users banned to activate others?

I think quick activation will be very good in the long run to making this place even bigger

No. They already mentioned they wanted to try and eliminate any rotten apples from getting in and causing issues. This is why free email accounts aren't accepted (unless that changed) and why everyone has to be manually approved. Initially, yes that's a lot of accounts and it takes time. Yet, it's worth being vigilant.

This is the best bit really, seeing many legendary greyed out names make a return here. Will they fuck up here too? Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. Many of them are now several years older and wiser.
Yeah, I like seeing some oldies getting another chance. Personally, I think perma bans are too harsh in most cases. I get it if someone is contributing nothing of value, but I feel too many valuable posters got banished forever unfairly. Happy to see some people I haven't seen in years on here.

Really liking the transparency here so far. I think that will help discussion and forum behavior tremendously.

Hey friendos.

Thanks so much for making ResetEra a thriving community in a mere two days. With hundreds of threads in both gaming and off-topic, your passion for games and your pure enjoyment of discussion is clear for everyone to see. It’s honestly a privilege to build this all with you.

With that said, I wanted to take this chance to make something clear. Among completely new faces, a large number of us migrated here from elsewhere. Relationships built up, hostilities sometimes built up, reputations may or may not have been made with other members, developers, or otherwise. There’s history with many.

However, this is ResetEra.

We’re not bringing baggage with us. Everyone gets a fresh start and should be treated with respect, courtesy, and fairness. If someone is conducting themselves within the confines of the TOS, having hurt no one, do not treat them differently for perceived history from outside this forum. Engage each other as you normally would. We have a chance to form a community that’s comfortable for everybody.
I must say, Reset Era is a lot friendlier (at the moment) than a certain other forum.

To all admins and everyone else who made this possible: thank you, thank you, thank you.

I'll say that back in the old place, I felt overwhelmed by the way Juniors were being treated. I felt put off answering and creating threads, reason enough for me not to do so most of the time. Here? Something feels inclusive and right.

Here's to an outstanding community of Eras!

They will probably use a blacklist and manually look it over every few days. Maybe even do a daily check and accept those that look okay. You can't really guess much from email and username, therefore the activation never should have been so difficult. After a while you should simply know all the "save" emails from around the world. At the old site I never got in for some reason even though I used my university email, it even said university in it and you can easily google it.

Yes, it should be a clean slate. People change and should get a second chance. If they still behave badly they can get banned or "timed out" with smaller pans to reflect on themself.

I didn't really have any grudges, but in general there was a lot of animosity, hostility, and "bad vibes," I guess, that had built up over the last year and a half on various political topics. I look forward to leaving that behind and starting fresh.

Hopefully we can all get back in full swing to the good-faith, reasoned and civil discourse that caused me to stick with this community for so many years, and leave all the former battle lines and factional animus behind. I'm pretty optimistic so far. Felling lots of positivity and a genuine re-appreciation for the community/desire to start new.

That's a good idea, OP. Let's try not to be huge dicks to each other.

The community is thriving already, we don't need to open the floodgates. I think a measured approach, with waves of new members and regular... pruning of bad posters.

Also, the staff here appear to be volunteers - busy adults with paid jobs and families who are taking time to work on the site. Calling them 'lazy' doesn't make sense, and also literally goes against the message behind the OP of this very thread.

A noble sentiment to be sure.

One that would have more weight if members of this site weren’t antagonizing other sites frequently and in plain sight...

There are some people I've had issues with, some on multiple accounts (I had 3 over the years), but I'm happy to put all that in the past. I'm sure we've all changed.

No prior beefs here, thankfully. I'm here for fun not drama. Although if the drama involved Beyblades I wouldn't mind.

I on the other hand have several beefs and I will be putting a plan into action against several people who've wronged me in the past.

I say we make this into a full-scale Gamecube forum. It's the most popular purple forum in history and it deserves a system to represent it.
