Any recommendations for a good hulkbuster that isn't Hot Toys (though I've been eyeing that too)?

Edit: I'd like something 1/12 or bigger and max around $500, though that's flexible

Can't go wrong with the Figuarts Infinity War Hulkbuster. It's not 1/12 scale but is still pretty large and has good reviews. Costs $400 on Amazon.
I also found another figure based on the Age of Ultron version by a company called Comicave that while isn't as good as a toy as the figuarts it's bigger and more detailed. Costs $520 on BBTS.

MAFEX Hulkbuster is also not good. I saw a youtube review of it by D-Amazing and wew it looks bad, engineering-wise. Figuarts looks the best.

Figuarts is way undersized, though, or at least the AoU one was.
Also, D-Amazing did a pretty bad job of reviewing the articulation. He doesn't seem to know that there's a piece of armor on the back of the ankle that lifts out of the way to help the foot articulation (like the one in front) He also completely missed that there's a ball joint on a peg at the shoulder that lets you pivot the arms forward and back like a butterfly joint without using that weird pop-out joint.

I'm venturing into the world of action figure collecting. First purchase is a NECA T-800 figure. The gatling gun is pretty limp. Any recommendations on how I can straighten it out?

Run hot water over it, bend it into the right shape and then run cold water over it while holding it in place. Repeat if necessary.
This process is not perfect.
An extreme solution would be to replace the barrels with brass tubing.

I shouldn't have found this thread, my wallet is weeping horribly

Ah shit, I didn't know they were doing Beatrix.
rXjwqC2.jpg

She's going to be in a two pack with Steiner isn't she? God damn.

Hilariously enough she is in a two pack with Freya, who don't like each other very much.

Also friendly reminder that the figma inkings finally go out next tuesday

Hi, a few weeks ago, I shared a concept of custom Alien Metal Diorama I was working on. But due to a hectic schedule, I hadn't time to finish it. But it's finally ready ! :) If you guys are curious, here is the final result :

And here's a photo of the diorama and me, so you can see the scale of the thing. Which is ridiculous heavy btw, since I used real metal sheets.

That's a fantastic diorama! I've been tinkering with the idea of setting up some dioramas to display along with my figures. I've just been using a few of the paper backdrops that come with Hot Toys figures. Might have to reconfigure a portion of my shelves to do something more than that.

Nice work, Alyssa !
Dioramas are cool as long as you only have a few figures. Anything more and I'd get chills at the amount of space needed to display everything.

I actually have quite a few Xenomorphs, but they are displayed behind glass, but the Alien Queen was too large to be placed there, so I needed a solution.

What is diorama? Sorry, still new to all this. Looks amazing btw.

Here is my humble collection so far.

This one is just throw together. I'm going to replace the Batman and amiibo stuff with 80s and 90s characters like a xenomorph, predator, Voltron, etc. to join Arnie.

I'm thinking of getting the Hot Toys Thanos Endgame figure that's like $400+. It would be my first Hot Toys figure and I figured (no pun intended) that I'd go big.

Anyone use a stair display? I noticed that the shelves on my display case are crazy tall and I can definitely fit more with a stair display.

Usually it refers to physical backdrops where the figures look like they belong to a scene instead of just standing in front of a plain shelf. Often it's custom stuff dedicated fans build but every now and then figure companies make them like what Neca did for the SDCC exclusive TMNT set.

Also, I use raisers in my shelf and they're good, help the stuff in the back stand out.

Watched a review of that one and the reviewer had nothing but good things to say though a couple of days later he posted this on his instagram

Might have just been unlucky though but might be worth noting.

Yikes! Though I wouldn't say too surprising. The build quality, engineering, and playablity of a lot of these smaller high end toy companies aren't as good as Bandai. One of my favorite (if not my favorite) toy lines is the EX Gokin line from Art Storm but their not the most fun toys to handle and a lot of times I worry if I might scrape or even break something.

Forgot to add, I got these recently (UK - In Demand and Kapow toys both managed to get some stock). Both arrived mint and I bought a couple of the cheaper DeflectorDC flat packed cases to protect them. Look stunning on their foil cardbacks!

Dang I was looking for TMNT stuff, but this looks amazing. I see it now for around $300. I wonder what I was originally selling for.
