Aerial image provides one of the best looks into Super Nintendo World that we've seen since it was announced - And it looks GLORIOUS

Epic Universe

Things to note:
  • Some sort of 'Factory' at the bottom level. It remains to be seen if this is a gift shop or something else.
  • Entrance to the upcoming Donkey Kong mini-land is a concrete archway near the parking lot
  • Yoshi's Adventure is definitely the name of the Yoshi omnimover attraction. We knew this from the leaked model, but it's nice to get confirmation.
  • Stage at the bottom of the land
  • Pokeys and those weird bird enemies from Super Mario 3D World are in,
  • Some sort of open section near the entrance to what will be the DK section
Super Nintendo World will open at Universal Studios Japan first (pictured here) at an unspecified time in 2020/2021 due to COVID. It will then open at Universal Studios Hollywood (2021/2022), Universal's Epic Universe (2024) and Universal Studios Singapore (unknown).

If I can I’ll go and hit it up later this year. I’d love in the future if they remodel it a bit for Halloween with Boos and such. Halloween is usually the most popular season at USJ because of the event staff and everything.

Updates have been slow since the park closed but it looks like work has been progressing well

Weren't there plans to create one of these in Orlando, too? Or did those get scrapped?

That looks very compact. I’m sure they want your entire vision taken up by something Mario related but that looks claustrophobic.

Also the angle could be hiding more walking space and the view makes it look like a miniature.

Yeah but Tokyo was always planned to be first since they wanted it ready for the olympics
Orlando opens in 2023 iirc
Yes and no. It was originally supposed to go to Universal Studios Florida, but then Universal decided to delay it and build it with the new Orlando park instead.
Assuming there's a vaccine for COVID by then, I'll happily visit the additions to Orlando! The newest water park was pretty awesome (though if price is an issue, Tampa has a much more affordable water park). The in-laws are only 90-120 min away from Orlando, so it's pretty convenient!

Please be open for my October trip. I know construction hasn't stopped with the virus, thankfully.

Orlando opens in 2023 iirc
It would open up with the new land, Epic Universe. But Uni basically halted construction until the economy improves so who knows when it'll be open at this point.

Epic Universe is opening in 2024, so there will almost undoubtedly be a vaccine before then.

Unless there's a vaccine, I would not visit this land under any circumstances. Everything is made to be touched and the land is pretty small.

Doesn't seem that small to me? I was at Universal Orlando last summer and that seems comparable in size to most of different themed sections there.

It looks almost exclusively like Mario land. Is there no Zelda/Kirby/Metroid/Pokemon/F-Zero/Star Fox/Pikmin/Splatoon/Animal Crossing stuff in this?
It's weird. Pikmin is rumored to be in and Zelda/Pokemon are set to come later at different parks. They wanted to make an immersive land, and you can't do that with a bunch of random unrelated IP's next to each other

Yes Nintendo World was originally planned to replace Kids Zone at Islands of Adventure in Orlando when it was announced back in 2015. Since then it has been moved to the brand new park, Epic Universe, that Universal is building just south of IoA. That was planned to be opened in 2023 with initial construction starting last year but Covid has delayed opening now to 2024. From everything we have heard it will be an anchor for the new land with lots of expansion planned for the future. I follow Alicia on youtube since she is by far the most trusted Universal theme park insider. Here is her newest summary on the planned park.

Seems about more or less the size of Galaxy's Edge main area but with a bit more verticality.

Looks great either way.

I think you mean to say Universal Studios. Islands is Adventure doesn’t have Kidzone. It does have Lost Continent however which had rumors about becoming a Zelda land.

I know my sister lives in Orlando and soon my folks will be, too. Perhaps a good excuse to visit, then?

Going to have to go on a day when the semester starts so there aren't so many people in the park. In the mornings, too.

Mother of God, it really is glorious. Universal has knocked their theming out of the park this past decade, rivaling the best of Disney’s stuff.

Yeah it seems a lot of people were expecting a whole theme Park.
It's a themed Land from a theme Park.
This always happens. Idiots lost their shit when they found out that Disney’s “Star Wars theme park” had ZOMG only two rides!!1

Most of the action happens inside show buildings anyway.

Funnily, the reaction I’ve seen from the theme park community to these photos is much more positive than the reaction here.
