I'm noticing recently these two guys get way too worked up about things like this. They hated Hikaru Shida losing to Statlander last week, claiming it made her look weak after building her up, and not recognizing that the only thing it did was elevate Statlander because it was portrayed as an upset by commentary.

I think they're both just scarred from watching too much WWE.
I dropped Post from my usual rotation because of this. I didn't notice their urge to fantasy book almost everything when it was just WWE because so much of what WWE does feels impractical. But sometimes you just got to react to what happened and not what could have happened.

This is the first time I've heard a complaint about POST, pretty wild to me!

Not sure about vomit, but I did see some fluid on the ground during that match and I wasn't sure what it was. I thought it was maybe a lot of spit.

POST haven't been great lately with the AEW casts, they've been very "if it's not done exactly like this then it's bad or why even do it" and it's starting to grate.

I've been dropping wrestling casts left and centre though.

I dropped Everything Elite because they were doing the same thing, one of the guys before Full Gear had that awesome Cody promo as one of this worst parts of the show, not because of the promo but because of the stipulation he announced for the match and I was just nah I'm out.

AEW ain't perfect, and it almost certainly will never be, there's always gonna be things to criticise them for, hiring Hager, not enough promos, too many squash matches, the Librarians, technical issues, whatever Brandi is involved, there's no need to overthink or get hyperbolic over this.

Speaking of....

The Bucks beat PnP to get a tag title shot.

Private Party beat PnP a few weeks ago and haven't been seen since.

Ideally an extra week was needed before Corpus to have Bucks vs PP for #1 contender.

Yeah, POST is kind of getting on my nerves, I'm thinking of dropping them. In my podcast, we discuss AEW as objectively as possible, but since WWE is giving us so much crap for so long, it's easy to sound biased towards AEW.

I'm new to the wrestling critic scene but nitpicky hyperbole seems pretty prevalent and that stuff rarely reflects my experience with the show so far, it's just a fun easy watch. That and the obsession with ratings and demos. Maybe it's just trying to balance opinions as to not seem biased against WWE (both sides), but as a result I usually end up checking Simon Miller and not much else.

Is it just me or Allie is way more fascinating in her evil bunny persona?
I was telling my friends that last night. The Bunny character suits her perfectly. BBB have an amazing look to them.
I mean, it would not have taken much for her to do something more interesting considering her character before was just textbook babyface. Seems like she's having fun with the new gimmick which makes sense as heels just generally have more fun.

Yep. Allie's always been good to me, but now at least she's part of quality TV instead of random matches thrown together. If she improves her offense a little, she'll be the total package. I mean, Britt Baker has the greatest Slingblade in all of professional wrestling, so everyone can improve with practice and Allie will too.

Yeah I gave WWE more time of my life than they deserved so for me I'm just at the point where AEW has to do something really bad for me to shit on it.

Even the Brandi stuff.....it's like it's just one character and it takes up like 2 minutes of the show, if that, usually.

It may not be good but it's not ending hell in a cell in a DQ levels of OMG WTF are they thinking bad either.

Absolutely and it would take quite a bit of them fucking up to turn me away. I haven't watched weekly WWE shows on a regular basis since 2005 and I haven't regularly watched their PPVs since the Greatest Royal Rumble (I cancelled my Network sub then but I've seen maybe a handful of their PPVs since then at my cousin's house). Even though they have a stacked roster I have no desire to watch their product. After 30 years I'm just so tired of the WWE and their style.

If Stat's series of backstage interviews end with Alex Marvez getting alien abducted I'll be a happy boy. Also, the booping is amazing. Never stop booping, girl.

And I dunno why y'all bother with any other wrasslin' podcasts besides OSW Review. (well, I've listened to a bit of New Gen Project and Attitude Era and got some laughs from those too)

Some folks like clearer, more news-style reporting by reporters as opposed to a humor podcast. For instance, I'll never understand why any human being subjects themselves to the trash that is the Lapsed Fan, but I guess people have weeks of nothing to do and nothing to learn.

Are there any decent podcasts that just deal with AEW? I guess there's not a ton of activity per week compared to WWE but I'm new to wrestling and only watch AEW.

I dunno, breh. If it wasn't for OSW I wouldn't have known that Sunny got into doing fart porn. That's pretty newsworthy.

Post Wrestling does a Review-A-Dynamite every week. That's what I listen to for my weekly reviews.

The hosts John Pollock and Wai Ting have been covering wrestling for a long time though and they are extremely critical. Don't go in expecting overwhelming positivity about AEW.

I honestly find their WWE reviews more entertaining since they constantly dunk on them in some pretty funny ways.

A couple considerations as I'm watching right now:
Big Swole oozes charisma, something that not many members of the women division do.
Hager has never been so good at the mic in his entire career

Weird to add a single guy to the group, what's he gonna do when virtually everyone else he can attack is in a faction and has people to call on to get revenge?

That's funny you guys are talking about POST wrestling, thinking about being done with them. They've just sucked the fun out of every single segment and it's made my following of the product worse for the trouble. They were really never like this about AEW til recently, maybe the start of the Survivor Series build, before then they praised both shows (Dynamite and NXT) and how refreshing Wednesdays were. It just sucks cause I've been following those guys well before AEW was an inkling.

I mean, I'm fine with their critique. They're level headed. I just think there's a point of over thinking certain things. IDK if I'm *done* with them. lol

The idea there is no story in losing is a misconception they're getting caught up in.

Why is it only AEW people done with POST? Are any of you folks backers, or just casual free listeners? I'd be surprised if backers....backed out

Not a backer, used to listen to their raw and sd recaps but cut em out as i don't have time for many podcasts anymore.

I'm not cutting them yet, some of their criticism has been fine and some of it has felt like quota filling, I want them to cut the latter.

Who are you talking about here?

Edit: Ah, Post Wrestling.

I still listen to them all the time, but don't always agree with their takes and get surprised by some of the things they don't catch, mention, or explore. But John and Wai are still two of the best and most entertaining in the game.

I actually like their critiques and often agree with them. So far I've only felt the Cody/QT vs BBB match thoughts were a bit off, and I feel they're too hand wringy over some of the losses. I mean, this is critique I know their own listeners likely give them because they read their fans thoughts on the show.

On-site fan report from last night (on the PW Torch podcast) said that Statlander vs. Bea was "an amazing match" on Dark. Just one person, and we do live in a time of hyperbole, but I'm looking forward to Dark even more now.

I feel the win-loss record hand wringing is one of my least favourite things to listen to and read about because once you take quality of opponents and quality of wins into account, it's very easy to see how a 1-0 wrestler could be ranked higher than a 3-1 wrestler, but people who don't pay attention to it get unjustifiably annoyed or snarky about it. I use the rankings as a general guideline to tell me who's getting pushed at any given time. I don't care how AEW does the math as long as it makes send to them internally and they can justify it...not that they need to.
