Man, hours later I can't believe I'm actually looking forward to next week once more with something wrestling related.

I wish Allie was in the Britt Baker position right now. Am I missing something or is she just far better?

So AEW is pretty much the first wrestling thing I've gotten fully invested in, so I don't know how good Dynamite #2 ranks in the scheme of things... is it pretty good? One of the better nights of wrestling for the last... decade? 20 years?

Because I fucking loved it, and this was only their second show!

Wrestling fucking kicks ass
I know, right?

If you couple the quality of the show, including match quality, promos, production, pacing and crowd enthusiasm with how important it was to build on the success of the first show and keep the positive momentum going, it's right up there as one of the best episodes of TV wrestling in a long time.

Personally I thought the first half an hour was the best wrestling TV since CM Punk went viral with his promo on John Cena.

I mean there have been incredible shows and moments elsewhere, in Japan and even in WWE in recent years, but in terms of non-PPV TV stuff I thought it was a right up there as a landmark show.

That was a pretty amazing show. Watched on Fite because I didn't want to put up with the mediocre presentation from ITV. Honestly the 2 hours flew by and I enjoyed every second. Darby Allin is already a star and I've only seen him twice. The skateboard attack was genius. Also next Tuesday sounds crazy good for AEW Dark.

I was afraid Private Party was going to fly out of the arena with those SSPs.

Also you ever just sit down and realize that the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega hold executive positions and wrestle on a show broadcasted on a major cable network? Even two years ago this idea would have been insane.

It's no New Japan but for an American promotion, it's better than WWE's been in 15-20 years.

That was a really great show. Totally flew by and didn't feel like 2 hours at all. Made sense, didn't feel like there was filler or anything else. Fantastic wrestling TV. If they keep this up they should be huge.

Any pacing issues I had last week were totally gone here. Everything felt pretty fucking great.

Spears might have gotten too much offense on Moxley but whatever.

I'm actually happy this was a thing, instead of the squash I was expecting (and am so used to). I'm sure we all knew the outcome of the match but surprised at how it went.

Thanks for the perspective, fellow marks. Happy to get some context, and know that these warm tinglies I'm getting from tonight's show isn't just because it's the first wresting thing I've been following, but because it's genuinely fucking good wresting.

TK is nailing it right now.

Is Baker vs Riho for next week confirmed? I presume that's where they're going but haven't seen that announced yet. I could see them bringing in Shoko since she's pinned Riho, and doing Baker/Priestley the following week in Pittsburgh as a #1 contender's match.

It's happening, friend. It's happening. Wrestling is starting to make me feel again when watching it. NXT couldn't do it, but this promotion is making me pop huge.

Yup, it's confirmed for next week. There was an image of it in the corner at one point during the show.

And hey another thing they did better than last week, they set up next week pretty fucking perfectly. For the most part.

A Pro Wrestling show booked as an Pro Wrestling show, what a concept!
All whilst Vinny Mac is whining about WWE being "too pro wrestling" and lamenting that there isn't more cuckold storylines.

Private Party are great and deserve to go deeper in the tournament.
It wasn't much of a shock for me cause I was certain the Bucks were gonna do the job to get them over (building stars! what a concept!), anyone fearing they and The Elite wouldn't job going into AEW were foolish.
But back to Private Party, they killed it out there and it was a great moment for them.
Sadly this means Jurassic Express will likely lose, but I think they know they have a lot of rope to burn with JE and everyone will fall in love with them regardless.

Jericho's promo was FIRE.
Getting everyone in the Inner Circle over, working the crowd perfectly, killing the stupid fucking "We the people" chant (Thank you Jericho), shooting on WWE creative and building the feud with Cody.

It's a tragedy that PAC wasn't given the chance in that shithole company but he's continuing to show what a talent he is, just from a commentary spot it's obvious how big of a fuck-up it was to not push him. That's the past now though, he's a future AEW champion for sure and I'm sure his reign will be fantastic.

The MJF tease was perfect and they'll reap the rewards from it down the line, would have been easy to just pull the trigger pre-maturely but it'd be a much weaker angle as a result.
The whole ending scuffle was great and reminiscent of the Attitude Era in a good way.
The way they kept everything tied together booking and story wise between everyone involved was smart and elevated it, a certain other place could learn a thing or two about how to do show ending brawls right.

Skateboard spot was fucking dope, it's crazy shit but crazy shit that fucking works in wrestling.
Hope there's another one when Darby faces Jericho, but results in Jericho stealing it and breaking it in half for the HEAT.
I can see Darby coming away looking great even in losing, AEW is nailing that aspect well.

Another great episode and another 2 hours that flew by... is mainstream wrestling actually good again? That can happen? in 2019?
Thank you AEW and Thank you Le Champion!

The pop for RIHO was enormous. Brought a tear to my eye. Also, I loved that Emi was in the ring with her because we were treated to some tried and true Joshi style and also regular women's wrestling with Bea just being fantastic (albeit a bit careless) heel. Britt one on one vs RIHO should be good next week. I think RIHO will get probably the better match anyone has gotten out of Britt yet.

I don't like Bea Priestley. She's only appeared 3 times and she's already concussed Britt, caused shit backstage and now this with Britt.
From what I hear she has previous of being a real bitch too.

She looks so damn good out there, though. :( And I agree with you on her needing to be more careful. Haven't read anything about her attitude backstage.

We talked about it in the other thread. She got into a backstage scuffle with Sadie Gibbs at All Out. Some of the folks who have followed joshi stuff for longer have mentioned her being prone to inuring other talent in the ring.

Not saying there isn't any legit criticism of Bea Priestly, but a lot of it comes from angry, over-invested western joshi fans who are upset when she beats their faves.

Is it just me, or is Guevara capable of selling just about any move? Everything that hits him just seems to have massive yet believable impact.

Just gotta love that snot nosed best, he's got talent for sure.

Edit: Re Bea comment above. I'm not a Joshi fan but I'm more than wary of her from her appearances in AEW alone. I'm yet to see any wrestlers get injured seriously yet Britt has copped both a black eye and serious concussion both from the same person. She's almost a liability.

Last I heard, Sadie's the one who caused shit backstage, presumably because of a combination of the Ospreay stuff and the botched spot in the Casino Royale.

Bea has a physical style that she should probably reign in against someone as green as Britt but I think she's fine. It's not like she's Sexy Star or Yoshiko, I can't remember hearing of any women she's deliberately injured. I do think there's some hypocrisy when it comes to injuries to men and women though.

Agreed. Unfortunately they saddled Allie with two horrendous matches at the free PPVs and it seemed to have killed her push.

Britt just isn't likeable as a face to me. She's not bad in the ring but her gimmick is some new generation WWF shit (and yes, I do know she is a real dentist) and she doesn't have the charisma.

A black eye in wrestling? Oh no! Nick Jackson got a bloody nose last night, no one's calling private party unsafe workers.

The whole situation with Dragon Lee is interesting.

He's been pulled out of the NJPW tag league due to CMLL requesting it and may not get to go back to NJPW anytime soon.

Meltzer made it sound like CMLL doesn't want ROH to sign him either.

Theoretically, this leaves him with WWE and AEW as potential options.......and AEW would be insane to not pursue him imo.

Tony Khan was at BOLA and saw Dragon Lee reportedly have some amazing matches all weekend, so I'd imagine he's aware of it.

Maybe i'm mis-remembering, either way she has had 3 incidents in as many appearances.
Maybe it's just a rough start for her but if it's going to be standard then she's not worth the trouble.

What hypocrisy? You don't remember the Seth Rollins stuff?

Didn't the Rollins thing only ever get attention because some old pro brought it up? IIIRC it was Bret Hart but I can't remember clearly. Haven't seen anyone bring it up recently even though Bray was reported to not be cleared after their match HiaC.

Would prefer it if he went to NJPW because there's better match-ups for him there, but if that's not possible having Dragon Lee in AEW would be great.

It got attention as a result of Sting's back calling it quits and having to retire. It had extra fuel added to the fire yeah but a lot of people were arguing over if he's safe/unsafe. It's died down now.

Lets be real. Britt getting a shiner is likely a work considering we learned through the official AEW account. But if people are wary of her after her track record so far, so what? Has nothing to do with it being the women's division. If it was one of the guys having consistently weird shoot stuff happening in the ring and back stage of course we'd talk about it.

I think that they will be smart and play the whole "Bea has it hard for Britt" angle where they will show the concussion and the black eye to make it seem like their story goes beyond wrestling and they really hate each other. Should make for a compelling one on one match at Full Gear, with Hikaru Shida coming from Japan at the end of the month and challenging RIHO for her championship belt at the same PPV.

But we've already seen that match at All Out and it was...fine. I wouldn't be opposed to them giving it another go, though.

They're capitalising on it, as they should.
I just hope they don't let too much slide if it becomes too common from one person.

Don't have cable but I heard the show was good.

AEW dark was excellent for being free on YouTube.
