I'd never ruin a surprise, fam!

I personally thought it was much much better than week 1. Great all around show.
I know, right?
So AEW is pretty much the first wrestling thing I've gotten fully invested in, so I don't know how good Dynamite #2 ranks in the scheme of things... is it pretty good? One of the better nights of wrestling for the last... decade? 20 years?
Because I fucking loved it, and this was only their second show!

It's no New Japan but for an American promotion, it's better than WWE's been in 15-20 years. So AEW is pretty much the first wrestling thing I've gotten fully invested in, so I don't know how good Dynamite #2 ranks in the scheme of things... is it pretty good? I'm actually happy this was a thing, instead of the squash I was expecting (and am so used to). I'm sure we all knew the outcome of the match but surprised at how it went. That was a really great show. Totally flew by and didn't feel like 2 hours at all. Made sense, didn't feel like there was filler or anything else. Fantastic wrestling TV. If they keep this up they should be huge.
Any pacing issues I had last week were totally gone here. Everything felt pretty fucking great.
Spears might have gotten too much offense on Moxley but whatever.

great show, all action no filler, Darby needs to skateboard to ring for all his entrances. I'm not sold on Brit Baker, she is very, very green.

Is Baker vs Riho for next week confirmed? I presume that's where they're going but haven't seen that announced yet.
Yup, it's confirmed for next week. There was an image of it in the corner at one point during the show.Is Baker vs Riho for next week confirmed? I presume that's where they're going but haven't seen that announced yet. I could see them bringing in Shoko since she's pinned Riho, and doing Baker/Priestley the following week in Pittsburgh as a #1 contender's match.
It's happening, friend. It's happening. Wrestling is starting to make me feel again when watching it. NXT couldn't do it, but this promotion is making me pop huge.
I don't like Bea Priestley. She's only appeared 3 times and she's already concussed Britt, caused shit backstage and now this with Britt.
From what I hear she has previous of being a real bitch too.
She had some beef with Sadie Gibbs backstage at All Out stemming from an incident that happened with Will Ospreay in Japan some time ago.She looks so damn good out there, though. :( And I agree with you on her needing to be more careful. Haven't read anything about her attitude backstage.
We talked about it in the other thread. She got into a backstage scuffle with Sadie Gibbs at All Out. Some of the folks who have followed joshi stuff for longer have mentioned her being prone to inuring other talent in the ring. She looks so damn good out there, though. :( And I agree with you on her needing to be more careful. Haven't read anything about her attitude backstage.
Last I heard, Sadie's the one who caused shit backstage, presumably because of a combination of the Ospreay stuff and the botched spot in the Casino Royale.I don't like Bea Priestley. She's only appeared 3 times and she's already concussed Britt, caused shit backstage and now this with Britt.

I wish Allie was in the Britt Baker position right now. Am I missing something or is she just far better?
Edit: Re Bea comment above. I'm not a Joshi fan but I'm more than wary of her from her appearances in AEW alone. I'm yet to see any wrestlers get injured seriously yet Britt has copped both a black eye and serious concussion both from the same person. She's almost a liability.
Mmmm... lets not go there. This is mostly because it's the same individual in these stories. And it's not like "Oh! They came down on their arm wrong" or something.I do think there's some hypocrisy when it comes to injuries to men and women though.
Maybe i'm mis-remembering, either way she has had 3 incidents in as many appearances.Last I heard, Sadie's the one who caused shit backstage, presumably because of a combination of the Ospreay stuff and the botched spot in the Casino Royale.
Bea has a physical style that she should probably reign in against someone as green as Britt but I think she's fine. It's not like she's Sexy Star or Yoshiko, I can't remember hearing of any women she's deliberately injured. I do think there's some hypocrisy when it comes to injuries to men and women though.
Private Party only have one incident.A black eye in wrestling? Oh no! Nick Jackson got a bloody nose last night, no one's calling private party unsafe workers.
The whole situation with Dragon Lee is interesting.
He's been pulled out of the NJPW tag league due to CMLL requesting it and may not get to go back to NJPW anytime soon.
Meltzer made it sound like CMLL doesn't want ROH to sign him either.
Theoretically, this leaves him with WWE and AEW as potential options.......and AEW would be insane to not pursue him imo.
Tony Khan was at BOLA and saw Dragon Lee reportedly have some amazing matches all weekend, so I'd imagine he's aware of it.
Didn't the Rollins thing only ever get attention because some old pro brought it up? IIIRC it was Bret Hart but I can't remember clearly. Haven't seen anyone bring it up recently even though Bray was reported to not be cleared after their match HiaC.Maybe i'm mis-remembering, either way she has had 3 incidents in as many appearances.
Maybe it's just a rough start for her but if it's going to be standard then she's not worth the trouble.
What hypocrisy? You don't remember the Seth Rollins stuff?
Private Party only have one incident.
It got attention as a result of Sting's back calling it quits and having to retire. It had extra fuel added to the fire yeah but a lot of people were arguing over if he's safe/unsafe. It's died down now.Didn't the Rollins thing only ever get attention because some old pro brought it up? IIIRC it was Bret Hart but I can't remember clearly. I think that they will be smart and play the whole "Bea has it hard for Britt" angle where they will show the concussion and the black eye to make it seem like their story goes beyond wrestling and they really hate each other. Should make for a compelling one on one match at Full Gear, with Hikaru Shida coming from Japan at the end of the month and challenging RIHO for her championship belt at the same PPV.
Lets be real. Britt getting a shiner is likely a work considering we learned through the official AEW account. But if people are wary of her after her track record so far, so what? Has nothing to do with it being the women's division. If it was one of the guys having consistently weird shoot stuff happening in the ring and back stage of course we'd talk about it.
They're capitalising on it, as they should.I think that they will be smart and play the whole "Bea has it hard for Britt" angle where they will show the concussion and the black eye to make it seem like their story goes beyond wrestling and they really hate each other.
