Fitts and OhSatan,

Main suggestions I'm seeing if you don't have the equipment for deadlifts is a barbell front squat on the Smith Machine, or single leg deadlifts with dumbbells.

Not sure which would be better for 5x5

They'll both hit differently and neither are ideal so switch it up. Problem with the dumbbells is that you're going to max out on them quickly — especially if you're going to planet fitness.

I'll be curious to hear the Spears shoot interview recounting the Cody feud one of these days. Wonder how he really feels about the way the result was booked.

I don't think Spears has anything to complain about. He spent years and years in the WWE system and the highest he made it was a low card act on the main roster. He immediately got booked in a higher profile feud in AEW then he's ever gotten and he remains at a higher position on the card than he was with WWE.

I still think, unless you think Spears is a main event level act, that AEW has used him appropriately. His role in the Cody feud was to help build up Cody to be a title contender, not to launch his own career.

That's a fair reading. I actually like him a lot more as a mid-card comedy heel. He's been showing more personality, which has made him more interesting to watch for me.

I mean, I am sure in Spears mind he is a lower-upper card guy. People have egos and I am sure he is no different.

The Janela pay-off coming on Dark is a bit of a kick in the nuts especially with a lot of the build-up happening on Dynamite.

I'm sure he expected to have another minor-feud by now with someone like Page or Darby.

He's now in this weird "I don't even have a tag team partner" story on Dark that doesn't even net-out a weekly segment.

To be clear, I'm not a massive fan of Spears and think he probably is being used correctly and see him as a career mid-carder. He's just the one guy on the roster that may want to be booked better than present.

As a general rule of thumb, I don't give Rovert the time of day.

Theres been instances where he's clearly making stuff up. If theres any credibility to a story, I'd rather hear it from someone who isn't possibly blowing it out of his ass.

I hope they give Spears a good heel tag team team partner. With a good partner and Tully as manager, I think they could have a nice run at the tag team titles. I think that's a good role for someone like him right now too. I wouldn't be mad if he held the belts with someone for a few months later in the year.

Someone like Cobb would probably fit the bill of a good partner for him if he was sticking around long term. An athletic bad ass type who can help to carry them offensively and make them look like a real threat, he keeps the matches interesting while Spears provides the dastardly heel work and some comedy mixed in.

Any truth to the story that there are tensions within the EVPs? Some of the AEW wrestlers were upset with working the Jericho cruise? It was Kenny's not Brandi's decision to kill the Nightmare Collective? Some wrestlers are upset with the Joshi wrestlers?

Whatculture is reporting this.
Totally true. You see, The Bucks and Kenny have been having problems, the Bucks are not happy that Kenny booked himself to be tag champs over them. They're all upset over Page's alcoholism. I have a source on the inside delivering me this scoop. Brandi is a MAJOR pain in the ass to work with, alway trying to book herself to win EVERYTHING. Thank goodness I hear Kenny Omega shut that shit down! Also, Britt Baker is secretly not happy with Riho not being around to defend the title while she's there week in and week out. I hear this is causing MAJOR drama. (No I didn't get any of this merely from watching episodes and being misognistic)
Well, that's it for the The Illiterati's Dirt Sheet report.
Be sure to like and subscribe!!!

YA Boy is OUT! Peace!

I'm sure as a professional he has higher hopes. I'm sure his goal remains to be world champion some day.

I'm just surprised at the common perspectives I see about his booking. When he was first released by WWE/signed by AEW, it seemed that the overwhelming take was that he was nothing and that he was only getting a job because he's Cody's friend. Then they put him in that feud with Cody and so many people seem to think he was wronged by taking the loss. Frankly, the fact that people are even talking about him beating their top baby face maybe says something about how good a job AEW did rehabilitating his value and that the rub he got from Cody worked.

I'm operating under the assumption that the tag team angle eventually leads to him finding a permanent partner and he becomes part of a legit tag team there. Which seems like a good role for him. He's a solid worker and has more personality than people give him credit for, but I think low-to-mid card heel or tag team is the top role he could reasonably hope for. You're not making him a higher priority than a Jericho or Pac or MJF. And if he's reasonable, I think he would get that. Again, he came out of WWE with very little value and seemingly has more street cred than he had a year ago at this time, so it's been a positive for his career overall.

Isnt rovert the guy that implied that Kylie Rae's AEW departure was because Jericho (or Tony Khan, i dont remember lol) was harassing her sexually?

Edit: You might not like it, but right now, only speaking for AEW inside information, the one that has the best connections is Meltzer. So if meltzer says some dirt sheet about AEW, it's more likely true.

So I haven't been to a wrestling event since WM 21 and I scored some tickets for Double or Nothing. I ended up with some seats in section 8, but had some questions about the floor seating as I had several opportunities to get some during the procurement process.

The only time I ever sat around the floor area was for a Raw at Staples Center back in the AE. I think we were on the risers. I think. It's been forever. While it was neat being much closer to the ring, the experience sucked because half the time you couldn't see shit thanks to people standing the entire time and holding signs and flags.

For those of you who have been to AEW shows and sat on the floor, how was it? Was it tough to see a lot of the time? I feel like unless you're ringside the floor is probably horrible viewing depending on how many rows back you are. I'd love to be close to the action, but it's tough to justify, especially when you can't even pick your seats.

I was on the floor for the first double or nothing near where the stage was and due to my height (5'7") it was a little hard to see things not going on in the ring when people were standing. I did find myself looking at the screen from time to time because of this. A cool thing being where I was is it was easier to get out and I got to see moxley leave at the end so it made it worth the seats.

Spears himself has said he is just fine with his booking.

I imagine a lot of the talent are going to be very happy regardless of position on the card, current television time, overall booking, etc.

They've been given a lot, too much given that Tony has had to step in and be more hands-on, creative control and freedom to do as they please.
They wouldn't get that kind of freedom in the WWE and they no longer HAVE to work the indie circuit grind to keep it, it's not one or the other, they can have both.

Also helps that AEW is willing to let them work elsewhere too.

Wait really you are not a lapsed fan from the good all years? 80s of course

Damn the power of AEW creating new fans ;_; they did it @all!

Haha, nope, I was aware of the major players from friends who liked it and video games, but never watched it and wrote it off as silly/fake/etc. Being heavily into standup comedy and gaming as I got older I was exposed to a lot of people I respected who were still really into it and became curious what the fuss was about. WWE seemed overwhelming to try to jump into blind (not to mention no one really had anything good to say about it), so when Dynamite started I figured it was as good of a time as any.

From that first episode, I've seen every Dynamite, Dark, and Be the Elite, I bought the PPV, browsing this thread daily, and culminating with buying tickets to Philly. It's really crazy, especially to me, but I'm loving it. Probably helped that my knowledge of wrestling moves stops with the last Aki game, I couldn't believe what I was seeing these guys do. Anyway, I'm stoked, just wanted to say that!

SoCal
Got tix for Double or Nothing which will be our first AEW event, since they haven't announced any SoCal dates yet. This is the most excited I've been about wrestling since forever, so I'm really looking forward to it!

To anyone new going to Double or Nothing I will recommend this: Get in line early unless you want to be waiting outside like I did and miss almost half the buy in. Hopefully they are smarter this time and have multiple places to get in line with because the only one last time was in the casino entrance and that was a mess.

fuckin A, cheers mate!

Kenny Omega's NJPW championship is when I got back into wrestling, following a hiatus after the WWE attitude era. Since that was short lived and AEW came right after, it was easy for me to simply follow Kenny and crew.

At work, I was briefly trusted with some stage presentations (like 2), usually as the MC and some mild comedy attempts are natural to me. Talking a crowd of... 150 people maybe. It became immediately apparent to me that the acting part of pro wrestling translated to what I was doing. Exaggerated movements, characterization... you know the straight man/funny man concept? I was funny man and realized on stage you have to talk with your hands, stomp like a damn cartoon character etc to help get the message across. All of that shit is present in pro wrestling and it makes me chuckle that I honestly learned that and applied it at work

I forgot to mention this here, but: I listened to Cody's interview with Dave Meltzer two days ago. Interestingly enough, he talked about how New Japan always treated him "like gold" because he was an ex-WWE guy. He then talked about how the Buck's and Kenny were "in the trenches" then he trailed off and pivoted.

It really seems like Cody's feelings about his experience with New Japan is much more positive all around than the Buck's or Kenny, and I wonder if that wasn't because he was straight up respected more. Certainly it's no coincidence they've had NO problems calling Jericho and even Jon Moxley to be on their programs, yet Kenny had it written into his contract and he's heard nothing from them.

TBH, Kenny wasn't really doing anything in the first few months of the year last year that would've stopped him from doing some work there.

Oh, I'm a new fan too. Wanted to get into wrestling a few years ago but was daunted jumping into the deep end of pre-existing storylines of WWE and NJPW. Thankfully the clean slate came in the form of AEW.

I'm not quite 40 yet though... that's in a few months.

There's also Nyla vs Shanna already pre-baked and ready to go if they wish to fire that feud back up again at some point.

They're my fave tag team in AEW, which says a lot given how stacked the division is.
I hope they turn on Jericho and the IC at some point, the pop would be huge.

These were two of my favorite moments in AEW so far, OC has been killing it

In SoCal and I've been seeing a lot of the plain logo AEW shirts. So safe to say SoCal is all in with all elite. And really announce a SoCal date already.

So Matt Hardy is going to be back on RAW this week after seemingly being written off television last episode. Apparently it was a bit of a draw and the E isn't quite ready to let go of him yet.

Noticed that Uno & Grayson aren't in the tag battle royale but Silver & Reynolds are, wonder if that's gonna come into play and they'll be a bonus team.

Maybe have Bucks survive to the end then have Uno & Grayson eliminate them, then they can hold off on Bucks vs Omega/Page until Double or Nothing.

Would also be nice to have a guest team included, maybe R&R express so they can fight with Ortiz and Santana.

I'm sorry but I don't want R&R express to ever be in a match in AEW. Being able to do Canadian destroyers at their age is cool and all but they should not ever have a real match
