I think the mask looks fine. Most of the outfits in comic book films really don't make sense even if there is some reasoning behind it. Why doesn't Hawk Eye wear a helmet like cap? Why is Black Widow wearing ass clinging spandex? Why does the Vision need a cape?

I get updating Hawkeye. Even though he's basically Purple Bow and Arrow Wolverine. Wolverine's mask is more iconic, or it wouldn't have made it to the present, at least in the comics.

Deadpool somehow knocking him unconscious and then dressing him up so "it can be like my comic books" would even be in-character.
